bay, the east bay 49 and san francisco, it's closer to the water at about 50 degrees right now. we can expect to see a couple changes ahead. we are in thursday so a lot of people are planning for the weekend. we have a couple changes but before we get to that i know mike is following a major crash in the north bay. >> that's right. we are looking at the travel around the bay and we have an easy drive as far as the sensors are concerned. your live camera shot over by the coliseum a lot of traffic heading south on the nimitz but no issues. construction just cleared north of the coliseum. farther north in sonoma we do have a deadly crash, that major crash westbound highway 116 is going to be blocked between van ness and east van ness, between this corner. you can use the surface sheets to get around, a person was ejected from the car after the crash so that will be an investigation. the major pre ways do move slowly, guys. breaking news, former "today" show anchor matt lauer just issued a response after he

was hired wednesday for allegations of inappropriate sexual misconduct. claims made by an nbc employee. >> bob redell joins us from our newsroom, he has been monitoring the "today" show which is now on air in the east coast. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. matt lauer sent this statement to his colleagues just over 30 minutes ago, which was read by his former co-host, savannah guthrie, at the beginning of this morning's edition of the "today" show. >> our top story is once again about our former colleague, matt lauer. >> and, in fact, we just moments ago received a statement from matt and let me read it to you. there are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain i have caused others by words and actions. to the people i have hurt, i am truly sorry. as i am writing this, i relegal iz the depth of the damage and disappointment i have left behind at home and at nbc. some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and

ashamed. i regret that my shame is now shared by the people i cherish dearly. repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and i'm committed to beginning that effort. it is now my full-time job. the last two days have forced me to take a very hard look at my own troubling flaws. it's been humbling. i am blessed to be surrounded by people i love. i thank them for their patience and grace. that's a statement from matt that just came in within the last minute or two. >> reporter: in another development nbc news is reporting that two more accusers have come forward since news broke of lauer's termination. the misconduct alleged in the original complaint began at the 2014 olympic games in sochi and continues after. the lawyer for the accuser had this to say in part and i'm quoting, i'm awed by the courage my client showed to be the first to raise a complaint and to do so without making any demands other than asking the company to do the right thing. last night variety magazine published a report laying out a

pattern of alleged sexual misconduct by lauer, including exposing himself to an employee in his office and inviting women employed by nbc late at night to his hotel room while covering the olympics. three unnamed women tell variety they were sexually harassed, their account variety says corroborated by friends or colleagues. the magazine also reports that several women say they made complaints to executives at nbc which were ignored. variety magazine based its reporting on a two month investigation with dozens of interviews with current and former staff. now, nbc news issued a response saying, i'm quoting here, we can say unequivocally that prior to monday night current nbc news management was never made aware of any complaints about matt lauer's conduct. laura. >> thaw very much, bob. of course, we will continue to follow our -- this coverage on matt lauer, you can read nbc's full statement on our website along with the statement from the lawyer of the woman who

came forward that bob had read a portion of this morning. it's all at nbcbayarea.com. today jury deliberations continue in the kate steinle murder case in san francisco. there was very little activity around the courtroom on wednesday, jurors are trying to determine if josé ines garcia zarate intended to shoot kate steinle two years ago or if it was an accident. a team of reporters staffed at the courthouse every single day. we will break into our programming when that verdict comes down. happening today, the sacramento man accused of driving drunk and causing a deadly crash over the thanksgiving holiday weekend is due dao you in courted to. investigators say fred lowe caused a five-car crash on interstate 80 in san pablo saturday night. four people were killed, six others injuries. a cal baseball player survived but lost multiple family members. another passenger involved crash in livermore last week that person has died.

ale ale alexa garcia had been in a medical coma -- last week lauren davis was driving drunk when she was driving her suv. according to court documents the driver had two prior dui arrests which later were reduced to reckless driving. 4:36 right now. one of the inmates who escaped from a palo alto courthouse will go before a judge in san jose today. police call john bivins last week at a san leandro hotel. he and another inmate had been on the run since a coordinated escape earlier this month. the men were from east palo alto and originally arrested for robbing a store. a new connection for walkers and riders in east palo alto. the highway 101 overpass starts at clark avenue and east bay shore and will end at newel

good morning, i'm landon dowdy. here are today's top business headlines. wall street could be set for another mixed trading session today, the dow closed on a record high, the nasdaq, though, had its worst day in three months on a sell i don't have of tech stocks like facebook, apple and amazon. look for economic data today on unemployment, income and spending and manufacturing. the dow rose 103 points to 23,940, the nasdaq fell 87 to 6,824. best buy is kicking off its 20 days of door busters promotion tomorrow, the retailer will guarantee the deal of the day will be the lowest price it charges for that particular item. it will range from 4k tvs to smart phones and laptops. you can get hints of what's coming by checking a calendar revealing a silhouette of the product on a designated day you can grab that discount as long as the item is in stock.

san francisco at 49 degrees, east bay 39. our microclimate highs similar to what we've soon the past week and we are on tap to be in a temperature trend in the 60s, a little warmer in san jose for today, a high of 66 is kmekted in san jose, 65 cupertino. milpitas 63. we do have that system of high pressure that's what's been keeping us nice and dry all week long, walnut creek 66 degrees, oakland 62, peninsula upper 50s and 60s. so no major changes in terms of those temperatures, they seasonal, very fallike, marina 62 degrees, embarcadero 62 degrees, for the north bay as soon as it struggles through the 30s it will eventually jump into the 60s for santa rosa at 64 degrees. i want to show you future cast because when we are talking about that rain remember i was telling you that they had been conflicting and they were long rain models and the system was looking like it was going to stay to the north. if you notice saturday at about

6:00 a.m. all we get right now or that white cast is the cloud cover. that system sits off to the pacific but if i fast forward into the early morning hours and eventually into the afternoon most noticeably you can tell that the system is kind of far up north. yes, the north bay, santa rosa and napa, maybe even parts of the golden gate bridge might still get light showers, but look at that, snow it looks like we are on tap to get a pretty good amount of snow with this system. for now not seeing a lot of rain chance in there. that rain will stay off to the north and by sunday it clears out nicely. here goes that snow, if you have plans to head up to lake tahoe the road conditions should be okay but if we do see the wind pick up remember to check the road conditions. as those slight north bay showers give us a chance we see the clouds sick around all weekend. it will be a clouty weekend ahead with a nice drop in the temperatures. we will go from 60 degrees from

this past week. if you notice on saturday we start dropping into highs in the 50s. we will top out at about 50 degrees. we could see breezy to windy conditions, less rain chance than the original models showed early on this week and on sunday we took out those rain chances entirely and we will be seeing some dry conditions ahead so as soon as we get over that little hump of cloudiness this weekend we are on tap for more dry conditions. let's go ahead and get a check of traffic with mike. >> there's very little slowing around the bay, that's why we're seeing speed sensors read mostly green all over. a little bit of orange and fog up in the north bay, but as vianey has been telling you not a major problem for the drivers. the speed sensors are showing slowing west and eastbound 34 coming through livermore, isabelle might be affected as well. there are usually crews in that area, that's why i will say that these sensors are anything other than green. we will track that to make sure

there's nothing going on. over here approaching the bay bridge a smooth drive, only 14 minutes from highway 4 to the bay bridge berkeley curve, folks are at least going the speed limit. we will also look at the north bay. the travel times are looking really good but i did mention that road weather index, the orange in the san rafael area north toward novato. the live camera doesn't show any problem, no glow to the lights, it's a smooth easy drive at least for the turfs at tara linda. 449 right now. crews are working to clear thousand of homes destroyed in the north bay fires while survivors suffer a second shock when it's time to rebuild. >> vicki nguyen was learned that what residents aren't paying for now may cost now and more time and more money. >> homeowners were told the government cleanup would be billed to their insurance and they wouldn't have to pay for it, but signing up means they also have to allow crews to take out their foundations. the state says they're toxic and

cover from the fires in a small clearing but his friend found him with burns covering more than half his body. he died sunday at the davis medical center. his death brings the total deaths to 44 people. alaska airlines is taking action after mark zuckerberg's sister says that she was harassed on the flight. overnight the company sent us a statement saying in part we have launched a full investigation and have revoked the accused passenger's travel privileges pending the joe ut come of that investigation. as a company we are zero tolerance for any type of sexual misconduct that creates an unsafe environment for our guests and crew members. the company says that it has contacted randy zuckerberg who first posted a letter about the incident on facebook, she writes in part that a man was sitting next to her, began making inappropriate and sexual remarks. zuckerberg says that she asked flight attendants to help but they brushed it aside and told her to go to the back of the plane if she feels uncomfortable. a los angeles mayor and current candidate for governor
