>> i will say this, hillary clinton lied many times to the fbi. nothing happened to her. it was the most incredible thing anyone's ever seen. she lied many times. nothing happened to her. flynn lied and it's like they ruined his life. very unfair. >> reporter: his comments come after the president furiously backtracking from this recent tweet. i had to fire general flynn because he lied to the vice president and the fbi. the attorney saying he dictated those words insisting the president did not know flynn lied to the fbi. why's it matter? because that tweet deepens suspicions of obstruction of justice. the president implying he knew flynn lied before james comey says trump asked him to drop the case which the president denied. republican lindsey graham delivers this warning.

this morning an old controversy now back in the spotlight. former tv host billy bush taking aim at the president overnight over that now infamous "access hollywood" tape. >> grab them by the -- >> reporter: bush wrig in an op ed for the "the new york times," yes, donald trump you said that. it comes after a report in the "the new york times" last week that in recent days president trump has continued to see doubt about his appearance on the "access hollywood" tape telling people close to him, including a republican senator the tape may have been fake and that he wants to investigate the recording. >> i said it, i was wrong and i apologize. >> reporter: an issue the president apologized for right after the tape was released. bush now noting that the president is indulging in some revisionist history adding that seven other guys heard the conversation and every single one of us assumed we were listen to a accuracy stand-up act. he was performing, surely he thought. none of this was real.

we now know better. bush who was fired from nbc news following the tape's release goes on to say he believes several of the women who have accused the president of harassment saying the behavior trump describes on the "access hollywood" tape is similar to their accusations writing about one accuser, her story makes the whole better use some tick tacks and just start kissing them real. i believe her. the president has denied any accusations and has recently addressed the movement of women coming forward and sharing their own stories of harassment. >> i think it's a very special time because a lot of things are coming out and i think that's good for our society and i think it's very, very good for women. >> reporter: for his part, bush says today is about a reckoning and a real wakening and calls last year an odyssey one which he hopes to never face again. >> and we're joined now by former two trump campaign insiders, corey lewandowski served as campaign manager and

this today i don't think if all these high profile folks in the last month human had a problem. this is behind the president and we want to move forward. >> perhaps it was but if he is corey, talking to people in his inside circle and suggesting maybe that tape's fake if that's true why would he do that? you know him better than anybody. >> i know him very well. >> do you believe he's doubting it? >> i've spoken to him thousands of times in my life, i've never heard him say that so where these sources where the fake news wants to report this, what we've seen time and time again is people want to make up a story that isn't true. we saw it this week with an abc news report. they want to make up the story about the administration or the president that isn't true. it becomes the news of the day and everyone is forced to -- which is not true. >> they set a narrative that is negative for the president. brian ross did it and it was obviously wrong and so -- >> the president said, yes i said those awful words and he

still believes yes i said though awful words is what you're saying? >> let trump be trump in our book, we detail the billy bush weekend and everyone can read it for themselves. >> michael flynn now pled guilty, got something of a sweetheart deal from prosecutors, a fairly light charge, obviously he's cooperating with them and has something to say and something of value to these federal prosecutors. do you think the president should be worried corey that michael flynn is about to turn on him? >> i don't think so. let me tell you why. michael flynn came after i left so he wasn't an early support. and what we know is as it relates to the national security component and specifically that entire component was segregated out and the president and the kban side had nothing to do with the national component. if mike flynn was not honest to

the fbi and that's what he pled guilt that is a crime that mike is responsible for not the president. >> and, by the way, if things had happened during the transition that's what the government is supposed to be doing. the incoming administration and on december 2nd, the state department specifically said and it's on video tape, the state department said that we understand that the incoming trump administration is dealing with national security leaders in other countries as well as -- >> why would flynn lie about it? it's a head scratcher. >> you know what i know, if you're being questioned about the fbi just be truthful. he's accused of lying to an federal official and he and he alone is responsible for that. >> has the fbi tried to interview you? >> i'll talk to anybody. >> have they asked? >> i've not talked to anybody. i'm an open book and i'm happy to talk to them about anything i saw. >> let me ask you about the president's tweet over the weekend.

he said i fired flynn because he lied to the vice president and he lied to the fbi. this is different than what he claimed before and it's potentially legally significant because if he said i fired flynn because he lied to the fbi and then, according to comey's testimony, later said to comey, you ought to go easy on flynn. i'm paraphrasing. that would be prop mattic, would it not? and the president in his tweet says that's why he fired michael flynn. >> mike flynn was fired from my world view because he lied to the vice president and to the white house. >> the brez just tweeted, i understand the confluence of those two things together but i think -- and i wasn't there. we're not in the white house so we don't exactly know. that is simply the president hears that he was lied to the fbi and he puts those together. simple as that. >> very clear on "meet the press," no russians ever attempted to contact you during the campaign? >> correct. >> and you did not speak to any russians? >> to my knowledge, chris cuomo, maybe.

>> do you have reason to believe that the russians were trying to get in touch with members of the campaign? >> i think what the e-mail chains now show is that russia wanted to get in touch with both campaigns and what they wanted to do is have a relationship a different relationship with either the trump administration or the clinton administration than what they had in the obama administration and what this administration, the trump administration said, hey, there's an opportunity to work with russia if we can partner together to rid isis in syria, that is a good thing for people. >> if the russians were contacting members of your trump campaign, which according to federal prosecutors they were and offering to peddle dirt on hillary clinton would that have been appropriate? >> absolutely not. what i would have done is i would've gone to me is gone to the general counsel and said i don't know anything about about this you investigate it. when i served as a campaign manager, never to my knowledge did the russians try to bring me information that would have been potential damaging to the clinton campaign and never accepted it. >> there's so much to talk to both of you about that you have

wreepts you get in the store are going to get even longer but this is a big deal. this is the first health care triple threat that you've seep. you've got the physical pharmacies. you know that you got the care mark benefit platform. that's the side of cvs that negotiations between drug companies, pharmacies and insurance companies drug prices and that matters. and then the third wing is going to be aetna. why did they need to do this? because there's huge pressure to lower drug prices and the bigger they get the more opportunity they have to do that and you cannot underestimate the threat of amazon. amazon is threatening to get into the pharmacy business delivering drugs. as soon as amazon is knocking on your door you better do something because they are powerful. >> if i'm mary smith and walking into a cvs after all of this happens, what will i see? what will be different for me? >> this could be a big positive for you, when cvs gets bigger that means they have the ability to negotiate cheaper prices. you want that. maybe you're going to see them

>> reporter: good morning. 17-year-old caitlin is waking up here in florida with her family. her 27-year-old soccer coach, who was on the run with her, is now in jail, in syracuse, new york. he will be arraigned on charges. and the same judge will handle his extradition back to florida. this morning, caitlin is back home in florida, found after a week-long manhunt. more than a thousand miles away near syracuse, new york. her parents breathing a sigh of relief, after their long-awaited reunion. caitlin, clinging to her father, but not saying anything at a news conference. >> we're thrilled to death to be together again. >> reporter: ryan rodriguez, the 27-year-old soccer coach, is now

behind bars. charged as a fugitive from justice, and with interference of child custody, both felonies. security cameras caught the two as they made their way up the east coast. at a gas station in north carolina. at a pawnshop in north carolina. but court documents suggest that caitlin was reluctant. investigators saying she texted a friend before taking off. according to court documents, that friend telling authorities, she hooked up with ryan and he worked his way into her life. rodriguez wanted them to leave the one. she didn't know how to get out of it. and if she did, he would mess up her life. caitlin went missing last sunday. her bedroom window left open. her phone wiped between. >> none of this fits with the young daughter that you know. >> it does not. >> reporter: investigators found there had been talk around the

his mind, always spinning like the rotor blades on the helicopter he flies. >> my dream is flying. it always has been. >> reporter: but he's a most unlikely chopper pilot. mark is a paraplegic. losing the use of his legs in a motorcycle racing crash in 2007. take me back to the day it went wrong. >> i was coming around the corner. and i went for the brake. and the brake level had fractured and fallen off. i had no brake. i slid the bike and i went through a gravel trap. i knew straight away what i had done. i was lying there in the gravel, looking up at the clouds. i don't speak to god very much. but i said, please give me eight seconds back. i'll totally fix that. >> reporter: mark did extensive rehabilitation at the shepherd center in atlanta. it was from his hospital bed that he proposed to his future wife, samantha. >> she said, i don't want to leave. if you don't want to leave now, i don't want you to leave in the future.

caltrans has good morning. it's 8:26. i'm marcus washington. cal has now managed to reopen all but one lane of the bay bridge toll plaza where that deadly truck crash occurred early sunday morning. this is video one hour ago showing traffic flowing through all buy lane 14. that lane will be closed for some time after the truck plowed into it, destroying it and killing the toll worker taker inside. authorities plan to charge the truck driver, who they say sped up and crashed into the toll booth, splitting it in two. the truck driver is in serious condition at the hospital. he is expected to face dui and manslaughter charges. now for a look at what's going on in traffic at the toll, let's go to mike innoette. >> aside from the tragedy that happened to the toll taker, we

trump be trump." we spoke to them earlier. now, they're here to talk about the book. good to see you again. this is, like, the true insider's account of this campaign. and the two of you, being right in the middle of it, one of the things i had to laugh about was the fast food. okay? the president was surviving on for all of the campaign. tell me about this. >> you know, savannah, the president and then-candidate trump, always wanted to be doing the next thing. he's so busy. he's always in motion. we never sat down for a meal. we would fly around his gorgeous 757, $100 million aircraft, and we would be living on mcdonald's. >> you said there were four food groups. mcdonald's, kentucky fried chicken, pizza and diet coke. >> i made a lot of food runs. you have to make sure you're on time for the president. >> this book is -- it's honest. in a lot of ways about the president, the ups and downs that all of you had on the

campaign. and you talk at one point about his famous temper and being on the business end of it. and being on that side of it. that mode he switches into when things aren't going his way can feel like an all-out assault. it would break most men and women into little pieces. you experienced that. >> he is a great boss, first and foremost. he's a tremendous boss to work for. but he expects and demands perfection from his staff. it's what he should do. when corey and i were on the campaign and the rest of the team, which was fairly small, we tried our best for perfection for him. whether it was the rallies or the campaign itself. we did the best we could. and some days we failed. it was okay for him to tell us that. it was hard. >> that's hard to be on that. to be on the receiving end of someone really angry with you. >> i want to say, he's misunderstood. and one of the reasons we wrote

this book was, i wanted to tell people and we talk about what a nice guy he is. what a warm said he has. and i met him first, steve winn introduced me to him. steve winn from las vegas pip was raising money for children's hospital because one of my kids needed many surgeries. donald trump, without knowing me, had nothing to do with politics. this was back in 2010, helped me raise money for children's hospital. and he's an incredibly generous, warm guy. >> you see that in the book. you see a lot of colorful anecdotes. a lot having to do with the former chair, paul manafort. corey, you were in there and paul manafort was in there. and the president was mad about something that manafort said. and you were on a helicopter at the time. tell the story. >> we were on the trump helicopter coming back from delaware. and paul made the decision that he wasn't going to have donald trump on the sunday shows.

for someone to make a decision without running that by candidate trump because he is the best communicator, i relied that message to the candidate. we were flying over the city coming back. and he said, lower the helicopter, i want to make a phone call. it was an amazing thing because when people want to change trump -- this is why the book is so important. let trump be trump. that was my motto on the campaign. that's where he's been successful, in everything he's done from real estate, to television shows, to running for office. when people want to change him, it doesn't work. that's what paul was trying to do do. saying, you can't be on television. mr. trump, you're the greatest communicator. he wanted to make sure paul understood that he can go on tv anytime he wanted. >> he lowered the aircraft to make that call. do you think the president has changed in office? >> i think all presidents grow in office. i don't think he's changed. i don't think anybody is

changing him. just like anyone in the first year in the job, understands the enormity and the importance and the seriousness in which you have to take that job. and i have seen him, i think, adapt, to that job. and it's a great thing to watch him grow in that job. it's a wonderful thing. >> i remember when he and melania, the whole family, were on the plaza. we did a town hall at the height of the campaign. and i remember, he was asked about his tweeting and that kind of stuff. and he said, you wait. i'll be so presidential, you guys are going to be bored. what do you think? how is that working out? >> what we talk about in the book is the authentic nature of the president. he's so genuine. i think the american people love it. what he saw on the campaign trail were all these fake politicians. these guys say one thing in private and a different thing in public. donald trump is the same all the time. and him tapping into that notion that you can be authentic and

condimen condiments, salad dressings. put those in the garage with the cooler and fill the space with your drinks, snacksing and things for the party. >> and everybody has a place you can slide a cooler. >> put it outside. >> when you have people over, the table doesn't look so snazzy. often, you're pulling out folding tables and just trying to make space. >> we have a great project. we're sharing the nifty video on today.com. we reformed a plastic folding table into a farmhouse table for $50. >> this is a folding table? >> this is a $50 and a plastic table underneath. >> can someone not so good at crafts do it? >> we glued it to the top. and we had the hardware store cut everything for us.

bottom of that pan, right? >> just olive oil. just a tablespoon and a half. >> we roast that about an hour. take it out, uncover it. and add our pancetta. you can add bacon. >> thousarow it on top. >> we're going to roast that 30 more minutes. bacon crisps up beautifully. and all we do is drizzle some of the pan juices on the top. look at that lovely juice. the au jus. >> how does it taste, guys? >> haveaven. you made this, i'm shocked. >> this is impossible. >> slicing the spaghetti squash can be hard. olive oil. >> drizzle. >> drizzle. and then, some salt and pepper. we're going to roast that for about 45 minutes. >> the hardest part of this was cutting it open. >> yep. and now, what do we do? >> this is so fun. once it came out, look at this. you use your fork and it looks like spaghetti.
