welcome to xfinity sports sunday. i'm fallon smith alongside my pal, lorenzo nil. we're going to get to the 49ers in just a minute, but first, we're going to have to talk about the oakland raiders. oh, my goodness, they had a chance to take over first place in the afc west. instead, they get embarrassed in kansas city. how in the world do you not show up for a big game like this? >> this was a big loss for the oakland raiders. they had the tiger by the tail today. go into kansas city, a hostile environment, but you've got to find a way to win. a team that has lost six straight games. l.a. was able to take care of business today. you had a chance for a two-way tie. today the raiders couldn't get it done. >> they've had multiple chances this season. guess what? they haven't shown up. the raiders have not won at arrowhead since 2012 and that drought would continue after today. rough day for the silver and black's offense, especially right here because of amari

cooper. he reinjured his ankle. he would miss the rest of the game. and, well, maybe he shouldn't have come back so quickly. shouldn't have been blocking right there. >> there is a play right there. you've got to chop block, go ahead and cut. legs go got in the way. >> the next play, to add insult to injury. gets hit by chris jones. ball's up for grabs and terence mitchell ends up with it. >> what a disaster. crabtree tacking. it doesn't matter. you tackle the offensive guy. now you're playing defense. >> that would set up a chiefs field goal. split the defense and powers in for the 13-yard touchdown and just like that it's 26-0 kc. raiders trying to mount a comeback and they see beast mode marshawn lynch up the middle. what did you see there? >> man on man, everyone gets their block. marshawn lynch gets into the secondary. walks in the end zone. this is what you've got to do.
9:17 pm
setting up the defense there. great job there by marshawn lynch running the ball there. >> recovering an onside kick, carr hooks up -- a two point conversion to get within 11. but that is as close as they would get the game will all but end right here with a carr interception. yikes. and the raidsers, they would go on to lose 26-15. a huge blow to their playoff chances. now this is all on the offense. they were shut out for three quarters. they punted six times. had two turnovers in those three quarters and derek carr had just 56 passing yards in three quarters of play. after the game, carr took the blame. >> it sucks. it wasn't good enough. and you put it all on me. don't you blame one coach, one player, it's all my fault. preparation was good. but it was not good enough. not even close.
9:18 pm
>> our fox game changer, provides pdf solutions for all of your document needs. the raiders didn't have a solution for kareem hunt. he had not scored a touchdown since week three. he had one today against oakland. he carved up oakland's defense. also surpassing the 1,000 yard mark no the season. he is second in the league "new york post" -- most rushing yards. we expected this offense to be lights out and light up the scorecar scoreboard. is it safe to say this offense has been the most disappointing thing about the oakland raiders' season so far. >> when you look at the offense, we understand that offense entertains and defense wins championships. when you look at what happened today, two turnovers. led for the kansas city chiefs. jump ball at this point.
9:19 pm
michael grab tree's got to turn into a defend? make sure he tackles. this offense three or four weeks ago against kansas city, they put up 30. the first three quarters we got nothing out of them. this game was over before it started. they didn't show up for three quarters. you got nothing out of the offense. the defense have been playing better than the offense. believe it or not, this year the defense is playing better. >> who is to blame? >> it starts at the top. jack del rio will tell you that. he's been a head coach. he's been a defensive coordinator. it starts at the top. you've got del rio's got to understand that he has to hold accountable, he's the one who said -- made the defensive calls. he's the one who fired his assistant. you've got to look at the offense. every man to himself, carr included, offense has to step up. these men are underperforming.
9:20 pm
the highest offensive line in the national football league. carr said it's bad, we didn't get it done, to collectively this team right now is not a playoff team. even if they try to limp into the playoffs, if you see they're not going to be effective becausener is a disconnect somewhere. >> safe to say they don't deserve to be in the playoffs, even though they technically have a chance. >> we understand they have a chance. if you get in, you get in. here's the thing, you've got to look at the way this team is playing. they're inconsistent on offense, inconsistent at times on defense. you see pagano's done a good job at getting the defense to play better. giving up too many runs and too many big plays. offensively, this is the achilles heel for this team. got to do a better job of getting the offense lined up and getting some wins. >> they have a much more talented roster offensively. we've got to take a break.
9:21 pm

9:26 pm
what impressed you the most about his performance today? >> i like the young fell low and how he takes command of the huddle. he knows where he's going with the ball. you love what cal shanahan is doing with this team. you watch what he's doing, he goes through the progressions and found goodwin now. 106 yards. last week, 99 yards. a guy he's believing is his security blank. he found his tight end. the big boy, gronkowski. jimmy g. knows the tight end is the security blanket. he knows where to go with the ball. he's got the quick release. i like this guy. he's showing that is he is and could be, i'm not going to say yet, a franchise quarterback. >> still a small sample size. you're not going to label it that. isn't this just great for the 9 49ers' fans. they have something to look forward to. >> i'll tell you what how great
