and right now as we approach 4:34 we are feeling some really cold temperatures this morning in the north bay and that's where we've also had some patchy dense fog so watching out for the potential of patchy frost as well. in oakland it's 45 degrees and 48 degrees in san jose, san francisco now at 50 degrees, as you get ready to head out the door throughout the morning that morning commute in the south bay will be chilly, but mostly clear. we've seen some of that patchy fog drifting around but i think it will stay mostly clear in the south bay. as we go through the rest of the morning we will be reaching into the mid 50s by lunchtime. here is a look at all of our high temperatures today, up to 57 degrees in livermore, san francisco 54 there and in oakland 57 degrees. now, we will talk about the incoming storm and how much rain it will bring, that's coming up in a few minutes. mike has better news for drivers heading into san francisco. >> that's right, kari. it wasn't a tremendous amount of bad news, there was a disabled vehicle over on the san

francisco side as folks were getting off that upper deck 4th street is where that stall was reported. chp did clear that from the report in the last 90 seconds. beautiful lighting in the background. it looks like we're ready for a great commute across the bay. look at the map and that's the same thing you will see here. looking at a smooth drive. we will clear that incident here over on the city side and no problems coming across the carquinez or benicia bridges. as we get a wider view of the bay, a nice clear drive. no green highlighted around the bay so those roadways much drier and easier to drive in. despite the fog in the north bay that you saw on the map, we don't have any delays for that north bay. be careful because it is colder and there's patchy fog in the north bay, there may be a thin sheet of ice, it's still clear, looks like asphalt, they call it black ice up there. none reported this morning but there is the chance of that. no problems on the rails, folks moving just fine, over 20 trains running for bart, no delays out of the central valley, either, that's great news for that

it tells people to stay away from the coas tweet that just came in from the san francisco department of emergency management telling people to still stay away from the coastline. this after a massive 7.9 earthquake hit off the coast of alaska overnight. it had triggered a tsunami watch for the entire california coastline but that has now been canceled, just canceled within the last 15, 20 minutes or so. we're closely watching that right now but they're advising people stay away from the shoreline areas, marinas, harbors, may have dangerous, strong and unpredictable currents throughout the day. we will keep you posted. they're saying keep away from the coastline for at least 12 hours starting now. good morning, i'm landon dowdy live from cnbc world headquarters. wall street could add to yesterday's gains, the markets closed at record highs after the senate voted to end the

in the bay area it has been called off within the last 20 minutes or so. san francisco's department of emergency management is telling people, however, to stay away from the coast line for at least 12 hours. we could see some strong waves out there as a result of this earthquake that happened off the coast of alaska. we're monitoring, we are not hearing any damage so far to report, but people there in kodiak have been evacuated to higher ground, many people evacuated to gymnasiums in that area and whatnot. continuing to monitor that. right now you've been monitoring the fog. >> yeah, the fog and we are also going to be watching a storm that will be coming in for tomorrow as we get a live look outside in san jose right now, it's mainly clear start to the morning, also some chilly temperatures and here is what to expect with our morning start at 47 degrees, our high today will be up to 59 and for the morning it will be mostly clear in the south bay, but as we go into the afternoon we're keeping that sunshine a very pleasant day ahead. by tomorrow that rain will return in the afternoon.

here is a look at our high temperatures for today, up to 57 degrees in livermore and concord as well as 57 in oakland and palo alto. santa rosa 55 degrees. starting out this morning with those chilly temperatures, you do want to make sure you're prepared for the day as it will be a chilly start. so a hat and a coat good options today. then for the rest of the day sunglasses and you also don't have to worry about rain or stepping in any puddles today. so a good one for the heels. tomorrow we will be back to rain boots once that rain starts to move in. here is the storm system i'm tracking right now, we can see the clouds, here is the sensor of the low pressure and here is the cold front and clouds extending out ahead of that. we are starting to see the rain moving into seattle as well as portland and this will be dipping to the south as we go into tomorrow. so as it makes its progress here, we're tracking out the timing of when it will arrive in the north bay. as we get a look at today into early tomorrow we will start to see the cloud cover increasing. by 1:30 tomorrow afternoon it's

moving through the north bay and approaching san francisco and oakland. so early afternoon for tomorrow is when we will start to see that rain moving in. it makes its southward progress into the south bay by the evening commute for tomorrow and then it will still have scattered showers staying with us through thursday. off and on rain expected until early on friday morning. looking at the possibility of getting at least a half inch of rain for much of the bay area. there may be spots getting an inch of rain or more, especially as you head through the east bay and farther to the north. while we get rain the sierra has the potential to get a couple of feet of snow in some of the higher elevations. at lake level we may get up to 15 inches of snow and this is going to be a fairly strong storm producing some gusty winds for the sierra. for us we will have that round of rain moving in, scattered showers continuing into thursday and then by friday it's all clear. it will be cool, though, behind this system and then it gradually warms up as we go into the weekend with sunshine in the forecast through at least early

next week. as we head over to mike, you've been tracking a couple early morning issues that have since cleared up, right? >> things have cleared up nicely for the morning commute. looking at all green sensors throughout the bay but none of the green highlighting that was the rain on the roadways for the last couple days. maybe some more coming as kari is tracking about. we will track the changes but so far an easy drive south bay in towards san francisco, throughout the east bay and north bay. the only thing we're watching is the fog drifting around that's the orangish yellow highlighting up there, that's where it may be tougher to see in spots like novato and north of there. no i think maar issues your drive times over toward the bay bridge. great stuff before 5:00. as we're looking at your transit systems as well, no delays for these rails. live look san mateo bridge, an easy drive across, you can even see the high-rise which is better than we can see yesterday. the farther south in fremont we are looking past the truck scales, head lights headed south towards the silicon valley and

no major issues throughout san jose or the rest of cupertino, mountain view, santa clara and the like. a suspect is facing two counts of murder for the deaths of two little girls from antioch, 23-year-old noe saucedo was in the martinez courtroom yesterday. the victims died after saucedo allegedly slammed a stolen pickup truck into the truck they were in. saucedo did not plea anything, he does not have a lawyer at this time. the family of those girls are making the decision no parent ever wants to. they took their two-year-old daughter off life support. it happened yesterday. in her death camila cardoza will save lives of others. her organs were donated. camilla's four-year-old sister died shortly after that crash on the weekend. the suspect's family in the courtroom yesterday saying that their son has a drug problem and would never intentionally hurt anyone. they are also learning that their distant relatives to the victims. >> the grandpa of the girls is

my dad's cousin. i know my brother would have never dreamt of hurting these little girls or a family in general, unfortunately these are the consequences of his actions. >> now, the mother of the two little girls was also seriously injured in that crash but is expected to survive. it has been a while since we have heard from bill cosby after his sexual abuse case ended in a mistrial. last night he performed in philadelphia. nbc's cameras caught up with him after the show. >> it was absolutely a lot, a lot of fun. a lot of fun. >> cosby obviously enjoying his night of performing. he told some jokes to a small group at a jazz club for about an hour. cosby also performed with a band playing the drums. cosby isn't off the hook from sexual abuse accusations, he will be retried in april. sonoma county could extend its ban on vacation rentals such as airbnb. that ban was put in place after the fires in october to make those homes available for those
