infrastructure, immigration, talk about trade, and also national security going forward. francis? >> edward lawrence, thank you. while the president is sure to tout wall street's success and recent economic gains, is the russia investigation that could overshadow the evening with the prospect of mr. trump's testimony in robert mueller's probe expected to hang over the evening. as the administration fights back reports that the president sought to fire mr. mueller in june. >> i'm not aware of the president intimating he wanted to fire robert mueller. keep in mind a couple things. robert mueller is still the special counsel, don mcgahn is still head of white house counsel office, taxpayers have spent millions of dollars on investigations not proving any collusion thus far with russia. >> it all comes as some lawmakers urge republican leadership to take up legislation protecting mueller from being fired. but there seems to be some disagreement within the gop about whether that's necessary. >> i've got legislation

protecting mr. mueller and i'll be glad to pass it tomorrow. >> it would certainly wouldn't hurt to put that extra safe guard in place given the latest stories. >> i don't think there's a need for legislation to protect mueller. >> if there's an issue that arises we will take it up. there is not an issue why create one when there isn't a place for it. >> the white house made sure to point out that mueller remains at his job as special counsel and has no intention of removing him. u.s. soldiers may be revealing sensitive and dangerous information jogging with those fitness devices. "the washington post" reports an interactive map published by strada shows the fitness activity of 27 million users of devices like fitbit. in highly populated areas the information appears as large blazes of light on the map but in remote areas there are clearer lines of activity which can be dangerous in war zones and around military bases. the spokesperson of u.s. central command tells the post the military is looking into the implications of the map.

the u.s. from the davos forum in switzerland. wynn has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to both democrats and republicans over the years, predominantly funding gop lawmakers' campaign coffers. now a handful of republicans are announcing they are giving back the donations with congresswoman karen handel and house speaker paul ryan saying they are sending wynn's donations to charities. no word on the other gop lawmakers who have received donations from wynn. president trump is taking credit for a decline in the african-american unemployment rate again. this time by taking aim at rapper and music mogul jay-z. in an interview with cnn, jay-z was asked how he feels about president trump's alleged vulgar comments about african countries. jay-z responded by saying trump's words were disappointing and hurtful. >> it really is hurtful, more so, like everyone feels anger, but after the anger is really hurtful because like you are looking down at a whole population of people and you're so misinformed because these places have beautiful people and have beautiful everything. and it's just -- like this is

66-year-old woman known as a serial stowaway arrested again after being spotted at chicago's o'hare international airport this weekend. marilyn hartman has a year's long history of sneaking on to airplanes. officials say hartman was taken into custody after police responded to a disturbance call where a woman was refusing to leave the airport. hartman was charged with misdemeanor trespassing on state land and violating the condition of her bail bond. she was previously arrested last week after stowing away on a flight to londs where she was arrested and returned to chicago. hartman has spent a year in jail after repeated attempts to sneak on airplanes at chicago airports. a shaken community in small town pennsylvania after four people were gunned down in the early morning hours at a car wash. police say the gunman, timothy smith, killed the victims, all in their 20s, in two separate car shootings sunday. a fifth person survived with minor injuries. police say smith also suffered a gunshot wound to the head, possibly self-inflicted. this morning he is the on life support as authorities try to piece together a motive.

nbc has more. >> reporter: the shootings happened at a small car wash in melcroft, pennsylvania, 55 miles southeast of pittsburgh. >> this is a pretty quiet place usually. >> reporter: 28-year-old timothy smith, armed with a semiautomatic rifle and two other guns, was waiting for the first two victims what they arrived just before 3:00 a.m. >> 27-year-old william scott porterfield and his companion 25-year-old chelsea lou klein, arrived in a silver dodge stratus and exited the vehicle for unknown reasons and proceeded to the side of the car wash where they were shot and killed. >> reporter: three more people arrived in a pickup truck. two were killed. >> the driver, 23-year-old courtney sue snyder, and the left front passenger, 21-year-old seth william cline, were shot and killed in the vehicle as it was in the stopped position. >> reporter: police say a woman
