francisco 55. we are tracking so the showers, i was talking about that storm system that was expected to push on through and this is out of a cold front. we are expecting the chance to see a couple pop up showers. don't be surprised if you start seeing showers popping up along the coastline and into san jose and possibly half-moon bay area. if you notice off to the right-hand side of your screen, though, we are also tracking some snow and not just for the sierra, we are talking about lower elevation areas in our future cast and this storm system lingers and sticks around through monday. even into monday at about 6:30 what you see right here is the possibility of seeing some snow flurries as low as the santa cruz mountains and even along highway 17. as you all very well know it already gets messy along highway 17 so now throw some snow flurries in there and windy conditions, we are talking about the chance of seeing pretty dangerous road conditions into the start of your commute on monday. let's talk about the wind gusts. as we fast forward the timeline

between 9:00 p.m. we are talking about gusts between 15, 20, 20 plus with higher gusts expected along the higher elevation areas. so what do i mean by a drop in temperatures, well, we will go from 30s to 40s and as we get into today it will turn much windier. as we head into monday expect that winter chill. we are talking about temperatures 20 to 30 degrees cooler from today's highs, which is incredible. take a look at this. tuesday by 7:00 a.m. we drop down all the way into those 30s so that is going to trig after freeze watch. that's going to take in effect by tonight, by 10:00 we are talking about freezing temperatures that will remain in effect until 9:00 a.m. which means it's time to shelter those plants, bringing your pets inside because not only is it going to be very cold, it's going to be windy. so imagine that windchill as it kicks up, we are only going to reach some mid 20s in some spots. santa rosa, san rafael, morgan

hill expect for the freeze watch to be in place through tomorrow. for the next seven days we are expecting that cold front to sweep in and we are in the 50s but look at monday's daytime highs, 48 degrees for san francisco, so definitely a noticeable drop and we're going to keep the chance of seeing some snow in the mountain tops, in fact, i'm pretty sure we're going to see that this cold front is going to bring pretty cold weather. inlands spots same conditions as well. windy for today, 20 to 40 mile per hour gust. as far as showers go it's more possible in the coastline and low snow possible towards monday. looking ahead right now we're monitoring an additional system that is expected to make its way in as early as thursday but for now get ready because it's going to get windy and cold out there tonight. still ahead on "today in the bay," when his hard drive crashed he thought the worst outcome was losing his files,

and we )ll see a big swing in te weather. monday - i )m watching what )s (next after a blast of weekend cold. how long the cooldown lasts... and when warmer temperatures return. see you monday for )today in te last friday, special counsel robert mueller indicted 13 russians and three russian last friday special counsel robert mueller indicted 13 russians and three russian companies for interfering with the 2016 u.s. presidential election. the 37-page indictment reads like a spy novel, it reveals an
7:47 am
effort to tilt the election outcome for donald trump. larry gerston joins us live this morning with more details. larry, let's start with how serious these accusations are. >> it is serious. it's quite the document, i encourage everybody to read it. >> you read it three times. >> read it thoroughly. at the heart of this document the indictment charges russians with attempting to help donald trump win by staging rallies on trump's behalf and rallies against hillary clinton. by running ads during the primary season harmful to marco to clear the republican field forxihí trump. by running ads on the internet after the trump nomination favorable to donald trump and harmful to hillary clinton. donald wants to defeat terrorism, hillary wants to support it. how about, we can't trust hillary to take care of our veterans. how about this one, vote republican, vote trump and support the second amendment. and also by inciting groups to vote against hillary with provocative rallies, one
7:48 am
example, support hillary, save american muslims. and how about by focusing particular attention to purple states like florida, ohio and virginia with at authored for those states. this indictment claims that the russians were spending more than a million dollars a month in their quest to tilt the election. it was a sophisticated operation. >> and a hugely financial operation as well with that much money being pumped into the u.s. election. do these indictments, though, actually prove the russians were able to throw the election? certainly they put the resources behind it, but was it enough and is it what made the difference? >> no, in fact, many of the clinton people that would love to make the claim but that would be oversimplifying a complex set of factors down to one, the russian connection. many elements impacted the 2016 election such as clinton's miss management of the server issue. her costly fight with bernie
7:49 am
standards, her poor use of resources and how about the comey investigation. it is clear that the russians hoped to tilt the outcome and that's something we have to remember. >> one question a lot of people have is these indictments seem symbolic somewhat because these are russians and russian companies. so what power does the u.s. have over them really in terms of consequences? are they really going to face any consequences or do you think this is setting the stage for something bigger? >> look, as far as these 13 companies go, these 13 people, they are not going to ever come here, but as far as the president is concerned, president trump would love to absolutely love tongs, love to think this whole thing is over. shortly after the announcement the president tweeted that the indictments show no collusion. how many times have we heard those words, no collusion between the russians and the trump campaign. deputy attorney general rod rosenstein also noted yesterday that no americans are cited in the indictment offering the
7:50 am
possibility, note possibility of no collusion. so as far as trump is concerned there's nothing more to do. the russians are there, we're here, it's over. >> as we know the president is not in control of this investigation and some of the allegations in the indictment date back to 2014 which was before he announced his capped daisy, which is why that tweet with the no collusion, right? >> yes. >> but you anticipate there will be more. >> there will be more. and here is why. look, for the president to say this proves no collusion, it's a totally premature statement. nowhere in that document does special counsel mueller indicate that his work is done and, in fact, it well may be that mueller is yet to address the russia/trump campaign connection given what we know it seems likely, in fact, that there is much more to come, more indictments to come. >> and so we wait. >> yeah, we wait. that's exactly what we do. we wait. we know that michael flynn and
7:51 am
george pap dop lis are sharing all they know given their plea bargains. rick gates may well enter a plea gargen giving mueller even more insight into the flow of money perhaps from russians into the trump campaign. the point is this, the point is there is a long way to go. they hope the trump folks know we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that the russians tried to throw this election and the mueller folks are far from completing what they have to do. >> larry, what about this, the repeated threats from the president regarding robert mueller and rod rosenstein? i mean, the fact that he could fire them. >> yeah, but here is the interesting thing. mueller, in fact, bought some time with these indictments because they have added so much weighty material to the investigation. as far as rosenstein goes, he also bought himself some time when he announced the other day that very carefully crafted
7:52 am
announcements that there is really no sign of americans participating as far as the indictment goes, but put those things together and it makes it more difficult for trump to fire these guys because they have really kind of protected themselves. >> this will be interesting to watch. stay with us, we will be right back with a last look at weather right after this break.
