with these cold temperatures. right now we're mostly in the 40s and low 50s as you get ready to head out. our highs today will only make it into the mid 50s so not really warming up much from where we are now. that seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen shows a lot more rain in the forecast. so getting dressed this morning you do need to make sure you're prepared with a rain jacket or the umbrella, something that will help keep you dry with those spotty showers popping up. there will be some breaks, though, in the rain. so if you do have some rain boots make sure you have something else that will be a lot more comfortable and jeans also a good option today as we will at times have gusty winds kicking up. here is a look at how that rain starts to dip to the south as we head into the east bay, the south bay and the peninsula through the 7:30 hour. we've got a couple more hours before that rain makes it into the south bay and then we will see it rolling farther to the south. also looks like we will see some snow on mt. hamilton today. as we go into the afternoon some scattered showers start to pop

up and that can produce heavy downpours, also some hail. then we take it through wednesday, wednesday night into thursday our next storm system moves in. this one looks to produce a lot more rain and a lot of heavy snow for parts of the sierra. even through friday, saturday, possibly sunday we could still see some rain moving into the bay area. so it is going to be a very wet week with a few breaks in between. so today a storm chance, tomorrow we're dry, rain returns late on wednesday and continues through thursday, friday as well as saturday and some cool temperatures all week long. looks like we could see some clearing by sunday and those cool temperatures will remain. so i will have more on how much rain and snow we'll get. mike, you're starting out with the crowd at the bay bridge. >> you know, we had a lot more actually a few minutes ago, but it was unusually heavy as laura

had said at that time of the morning -- at this time of the morning. we're looking at the crash lanes still backed up. the fast track lanes are streaming through, traffic is not held up by any metering lights but we did get a good early rush of traffic here. here is what i think is happening, i think a lot of folks may have had last week off or taking it easy last week coming back in because some schools had that winter break and so overall the bay's traffic was a lot lighter last week, now folks are trying to get an early start to get back in the office and catch up on the e-mail. behind me there is a crash 680 at stone valley southbound side and off to the shoulder. i told you i'd point it out if it was still there. no problems coming out of the tri-valley. wet roadways in spots for hayward and more coming down. we will call out in fremont out of union city south 880 there is a car stalled in the slow lane around alvarado niles. an easy ride on all these transit systems, guys.
