4:46 am
was about it. we are not in the clear, we still got pretty unstable air and we are following a cold air mass that's going to bring low snow elevations and also the chance of seeing isolated hail. i will talk about that. first look at how it is outside. 47 degrees, south bay 47, san francisco about 45 degrees right now, north bay 34. here is a look at our doppler radar. this is that same storm system, all this green is our precipitation that you see. look at it now, this is how the radar currently looks. we have a couple spotty showers lingering offshore but the majority of that rain is now trekking off to the east and the southeast as well which means, yes, this is that same exact storm system that is expected to bring a good amount of rain totals and rainfall towards los angeles. if you are heading down towards los angeles, if you have family in los angeles, this is what we're expected. look at the amount of rainfall, santa barbara, bakersfield they are expecting a sweep of moderate to heavy downpours and also strong gusty conditions which is why they're looking
4:47 am
ought for all of those burn zones. now, with this cold air mass we are also expect to go see even more snow on top of the snow that's already falling in the sierra. this is an estimate taken through saturday, this is through tomorrow, and look at this, 45 inches at twin bridges, 49 inches in kirkwood, south lake tahoe over 30 inches and 41 inches in kingvale. we are definitely expecting for this to also drop down some of our temperatures locally as well. let's take a look at storm totals so far. napa got over two inches of rain from the past 24 hours of the storm system. orinda over two inches, san francisco nearly an inch, redwood city also nearly an inch. this hour by hour outlook. so let's talk about when we can expect to see the next chance of rain. if you notice the timeline up here we are not really expecting much but we might get some light scattered showers near the south bay, you can see these small pockets of rain, but if i fast forward this timeline right after your lunch hour we could see another round of showers moving through pushing down from
4:48 am
the north to the south, again, so the north bay will have a better chance of seeing some of those showers early on into the afternoon, then if i take this through the evening we get another round of moderate to heavy downpours and if that cold air mass gets cold enough we could see the chance of seeing some hail. long range outlook right now we do have a chance of some thunderstorms to start off our weekend into saturday and also some low snow levels because of that same cold air mass. as we take this timeline through sunday we do catch another break from the rain and it looks like clearing skies and a drying trend into early next week before we see the arrival of an additional system making its way in. as far as your daytime highs we will be in the low to mid 50s, in oakland a high of 56, san jose a high of 57 and for the next seven days a quick look at what you can expect, we have showers moving in with possible hail even as we head into early saturday. let's get a check of the roads with mike. calmer conditions as we've talked about, calmer than yesterday. a nice drive right now. green sensors. we did get reports of a new
