be keeping the chance of showers through the afternoon and into tomorrow morning. i'll talk about that in a bit. let's head over to mike. >> we'll check the roadways first that live camera. that's the richmond-san raphael bridge. light volume of rain on the roadway. you can see it. some mild puddling. slick roadways that is what we'll watch for. those conditions will be there on and off the roadway. last night a couple of reports in san francisco, on-ramp in the lower deck and oakland a couple of patches, big puddles reported. we'll track that. happening today a big announcement on president trump's tariff plan will be postponed. we learned from overnight it appears the president is taking a step back to tax steel and aluminum. >> tracie potts is in washington

to explain why. >> reporter: a senior administration official tells nbc president trump is not expected to announce tariffs on steel and aluminum today as planned because he hasn't made a decision. he needs more time. >> the president indicated that if we can work something out with canada and mexico we will be exempted. >> reporter: gary cohn quit over the issue and markets dropped. more than 100 republicans urged the president to reconsider his plan for 25% tax on steel imports and 10% on aluminum. u.s. allies threatened to retaliate. >> we have to take measures to protect the european jobs. >> reporter: lawmakers are concerned that would spark a trade war and hurt american workers. >> we think the president can strengthen his hand against unfairly trade policies by tailoring this to allow fair trade practices.

>> reporter: they want him to focus on china. >> they are our number one trade problem not canada, not europe. >> reporter: planned meeting with steelworkers and executives nowhere on the president's schedule today. tracie potts, nbc news, washington. at 4:33, happening today at lunch time hundreds of students in san jose expected to protest against members of the school board. we've been following this story for months. 400 students and their parents expected to walk out from schools in the allen rock school district. parents have been engaged in an ongoing battle with certain school board members accusing them of miss handling funds. one parent we talked to says the board lacks transparency. >> we want to show our kids they have a voice, they can fight for their education. in a good way. they are very powerful. >> today in beltway chris sanchez will join us at 5:30 with what the school

superintendent has to say about today's planned walk out. new details and new reward in the case of a woman shot to death in the south bay. $10,000 is being offered who killed emily courchesne. she lived in danville but was house sitting at her uncle's home in byron when someone shot her. deputies say that case has now gone cold. her mother is desperate for answers right now. >> i just want the person who did it off the streets. >> anyone with information is being asked to contact the contra costa county officers. we brought you coverage of the shooting. protesters an evidence and outraged by the shooting sounding off taking their message of condemnation straight to police officers. >> no. let me talk to the kid before we shoot. why do they have to do that? >> protesters gathered outside the mission police station last night.

this comes after officers shot and killed an armed robbery suspect who police say was hiding in the trunk of a car on tuesday tonight. they identified the victim as a 19-year-old. they obtained video of shooting from the witness. i need to warn you, you may find it disturbing. [ gunshot ] >> two other suspects in the car complied and got out but delgado hid in the trunk. according to police a gun was recovered in that trunk. >> the fight for gun control comes to visa headquarters in foster city today. this is happening at 11:00 this morning on metro center boulevard. advocates for gun control will rally and also deliver more than 100,000 signatures to the credit card company. they are demanding that the company stop processing payments from retailers that sell weapons. coming up next, so many

welcome back. the time now 4:44. take a live look at san rafael. a few people on the road right there. headlights are popping up here and there. >> pretty mild. happening now calendars may say march but feeling more like mid-january. on the east coast, we learned more than a million people are without power. for the second time in a week cities are getting battered by that nor'easter. 50 million people are impacted. expected to once again have a ripple effect at bay area airports. the storm yesterday cancelled 30 flights at sfo and 500 flights have been cancelled at airports in new york, new jersey and boston. our little bit of rain here that's passing through.

>> a little bit of rain. yesterday when i said not widespread, not going to wash out. that's what we're seeing. temperatures still fairly mild. overall temperatures remain -- look at that, 49 image san jose. i want to get to you the radar. i want to show you what's going on. this is a white out look. let me zoom in so you can see the rain closely. you can see how light this rain is and how much it's moving out. right now san francisco, if i take this in even closer so i can pinpoint some locations, showers passing throu ining thr pleasantton and san jose. we don't see that much moisture. we'll see majority of this rain move out within the next half hour to an hour or so. not a big concern. but we do have a couple of showers that may pop up in the

santa cruz mountains, a little bit later in through that at least the 7:00, 7:30 hour. over the santa cruz mountains shoe showers moving through. another thing we'll notice is that into the evening we might see a couple of rain spots pop up here and there and temperature trend through tonight is going to keep us cloudy in san jose. if you notice the temperatures will climb into the 60s by 10:00 a.m., eventually by 2:00 we'll still be in those upper 60s. once again important,ly hitting some 70s on the map. we're still following these warmer temperatures in the bay area. and the hour-by-hour outlook. if you notice by 6:00 a.m. we do still see a couple of showers popping up here and there near oakland and hayward spots and temperatures in the mid-60s and in through tomorrow and in through tomorrow night we're going to see the arrival of another band of showers that could spark up some rain. if i'm looking at this

hour-by-hour outlook the majority sticks out to north and by north i mean far north. north of the golden globate bri. we'll have another chance of seeing more rain on the way. let's talk about that next system. i talked about three systems, third system was set to arrive on monday. now been pushed back a bit. on saturday we'll see the arrival of the second storm system and that will bring in evening rain towards san francisco, early morning rain on saturday. this is not looking like a cold storm either, not a huge rain maker, less than a quarter of an inch. we could see spotty rain for moan. fast forward this timeline through wednesday looks like that could be the arrival of our third system. initially we said storm system to arrive on monday. that looked like it fell apart. now we're monitoring one heading our way for wednesday. inland spots, that storm situation arrives saturday. bringing scattered rain to san

jose area. we'll see showers carry on over towards sunday. so still seeing some light rain out there, mike, but i know how commuter get when it raines. >> can get tough to drive. people hit their brakes. there's slick roadways. you have to hit your brakes when you hit the cash lane at the toll bridge. these cash lanes, more folks at the toll plaza. haven't opened up the cash plains. no big surprises there. watch in the next 15 we'll see changes. approach moves just fine here. not a lot of wet roadways but you saw richmond center, bay bridge toll bridge. things are slower as you would imagine and maybe a little slick here, a little radar activity over high 84. no major flooding. oakland had spotty patches.

south bay down to south county no major problems. watch 17 wet over the summit and we'll be tracking any chp warnings. a question many people asking particularly parents could video games be a part of the problem when it comes to gun violence. today president trump will be meeting with leaders of the video game industry to get an answer to that question. they will be discussing whether video game violence may encourage mass shootings like the one three weeks ago in parkland, florida. nbc's liz mclaughlin has the research on this issue and what every parent should know. >> reporter: graphic images in a fantasy world. getting close to home after real life mass shootings. many including president trump suggesting a connection between the two. >> i'm hearing more and more people saying the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people's thoughts. >> reporter: researchers say there's no evidence that playing

violent video games leads to violent behavior. >> for every shooter who is playing a video game, there are hundreds of thousands of millions of kids out there who are playing these games who aren't doing that. >> reporter: the industry is transparent about this content. video games have rating systems. this one is m for mature, what that means it contains intense violence, blood and gore and has an age suggestion of 17 and up. many play before that. researchers say 90% of young boys played a violent video game by the time they reached high school. >> it's not fair to say there's no rationale in keeping your kids from playing violent games. >> reporter: there's still more to be learned about the effects of violent media, researchers say policymakers well need to look beyond makers in the complex issue of gun violence prevention.

liz mclaughlin, nbc news. from coach to gun control advocate, steve kerr will join a town hall meeting on gun violence. town hall will be with students next monday afternoon. koch kerr will join congressman rocan j. kerr is an outspoken advocate for gun control. his father was killed by gun men in lebanon in 1984. >> debate for sex education in the east bay. students are expected to be taught lessons in health, puberty and sexuality. but there's a petition to delay those lessons. those again it say the district approach will focus on sexuality and could lead to sexualizing of children. other parents say education is the best tool. >> whether we're teaching it at home or at school at some point these kids do need to learn these concepts and terms. >> district officials say the

curriculum follows state law and standards. they also point out that those signatures on the petition are from around the country and not necessarily the community. happening today all six democratic candidates vying to be the next mayor of san francisco will attend a forum. it's held by the san francisco democratic party. it's held tonight at 6:30 at the lgbt center on market street. if you want to attend get a ticket by making a donation but that's not required. organizers say no one will be turned away. people can submit questions to the democratic party to ask the candidates. coming up on "today in the bay," san jose art installation is leaving. the last time you'll be able to run through those sonic rings in downtown san jose. >> better get those heels on. first happening now concerns about an std cluster in milwaukee. health advocates told milwaukee newspaper 125 people including some high school students have
