workweek, yeah, looks like the rest of the bay area is probably going to get a good soaking as we head in towards the next workweek. you are going to notice kind of a wild mix of temperatures. napa is at 39, san jose at 51, but besides that we are seeing some fog so please slow it down. parents, i want to get you started on the school day forecast if you're getting the kids prepared right now. we will be fairly comfortable. by 1:00 at about 57 degrees, we will keep the clouds in the sky, not really tracking rain. we might see light drizzle along the coast, but all in all we won't see that rain move in until later. so keep that in mind as we head into today, upper 60s for the most part. the roadways as we often see on a friday very light right now. the fog will be a factor for areas creeping toward hayward along the east bay. the peninsula and south bay a mild build. fremont, i want to take our camera over here, 880, this area

6:04 am
34-year-old male suspect who has been detained. the motive behind this homicide is unclear. we do know according to walnut creek police that the suspect and victim did know -- they knew each other, but they are not walnut creek res didn't. police aren't looking for any suspects at this time, but if you have any information to help with this case, contact walnut creek police. we're live in walnut creek, pete suratos for "today in the bay." thank you so much for the update. the white house working out details of something that has never happened before, a face-to-face meeting between an american president and the leader of north korea. authority korean leader kim jong-un has agreed to stop missile tests for now and move towards getting rid of his nuclear program. it comes after south korea's national security adviser add nounsed that un would meet with president trump. in a tweet president trump called it great progress but insisted sanctions will remain. republicans on capitol hill say it's a sign the maximum pressure campaign is working. a nbc news historian explains

continuing with the changes for the visibility in the north bay. now, changes on the peninsula, it's clear, you see the low clouds in the distance there, but there was an issue, a disable vehicle reported on southbound 101 with these headlines down past willow. you see uninterrupted traffic at willow so it may be in the area but i don't see a problem here on the live cameras and also on our speed sensors. through the peninsula no problems as you travel 101 south in toward palo alto. we will track that. there is low visibility in oakland and the problem here you can't go on to san pablo between 32nd and 34th. we continue to follow that scene. i will show you the latest from that scene and get you a peek at the bay bridge where the backup is, fog in the north bay. back to you. coming up next on "today in the bay," four people are behind bars in connection with a massive credit card skimming operation in the bay area. the countries the suspects may have targeted. plus big job numbers this morning and a really lucky break for supporters of net

"the new york times" says netflix is working on a deal with barack and michelle obama for some kind of new television store. i was talking about that date march 9th. it's an important date. it was on march 9th, 2009 the stock market hit its lowest point following the economic collapse and every day after that has been a slow march upwards. so today marks nine years of a bull market and that is a long bull market. you saw people typing on computers here, we are talking about twitter this morning. more changes are coming to san francisco's twitter. the ceo says every day users are going to get blue check marks if
6:16 am
they can prove without a doubt who they are. that should cut down on fake accounts run by russians. twitter has tried this in the past. it started giving the blue check marks to all kinds of people including racists and white supremacists because twitter had established they were who they said they were but people interpreted this blue check mark as symbolizing some legitimacy or an dorsment so twitter took away the blue check mark from a lot of people. how this will be different this time around we don't know. big news in the battle for net neutrality. you remember the fcc noted to get rid of a number of rules that protect net neutrality and a bunch of groups sued to get those rules back. well, a judicial panel says it's going to combine all of those lawsuits and put those lawsuits in front of an appellate court. they chose it at random, imagine a roulette wheel. it landed on number 9. exactly. number 9, our appellate court is the most liberal court of the

6:20 am
saturday morning, we've got a system, but the majority of those rain showers will move in saturday night into early sunday morning. and the next seven days we will get several chances of seeing rain around here. now, do remember sunday we have the daylight saving time, we will lose an hour of sleep. monday we might catch scattered showers early on. on tuesday we see another system move in. on wednesday this one is looking like the more powerful storm system with windy conditions thanks to a jet stream. rain is expected to develop into saturday. mike? we are looking out and talking about the weather conditions. foggy for the north bay and the east bay hills. we are not so worried about the south bay right now. peninsula looks great. i haven't seen any more developments regarding that issue around willow. so south 101 looks like it's clear toward palo alto. this is not yet cleared. the freeway through the maze they are open but san pablo avenue between 32nd and 34th.

morning with a look at this new data for us. good morning, kris. >> reporter: hi there, laura. 41 californians who died of the flu had gotten a flu vaccine. this is concerning for all kinds of folks who got the flu vaccine and thought that they were protected against this particularly deadly strain of the influenza virus. this is a preliminary number, it is data for about a fifth of the deaths statewide, but still a cause for concern for people who think they are protected. earlier in this flu season the california public health department warned that this year's flu vaccine might not be as effective as in years past. as of last month the centers for disease control estimated that the vaccine was, in fact, only 36% effective. california will put out updated data on flu deaths in two hours, but as of last friday there were 214 flu deaths in california among people younger than 65. off those 97 people had
6:33 am
vaccination regards available. the people who died 58% were not vaccinated, but 42% were and that is the 41 people that we mentioned before. now, even in cases where the flu vaccine is not fully effective, it does help to make that flu last a shorter period and it makes it a lot less severe. so health professionals still advise that you get a flu shot. even though this late in the season we have a couple weeks and there is still widespread flu activity here in california. by the way, here in the bay area 43 people have died from the flu, we don't know how many of them were vaccinated, but when we get those updated numbers from the california department of health we will make sure that we let you know. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> good reminder to wash your hands. >> always. opd is reaching out. so far unsuccessfully. this is to the owners of an oakland coffee shop refusing to serve police in uniform.

the big question in florida today, will the governor sign new gun measures into law that include raising the age limit to buy a gun to 21 and arming certain faculty members. the governor said he does not support arming school faculty. he will meet with families impacted by the florida school shooting today to get their take on the bill. for the first time we are hearing the new 911 calls from that horrific day in parkland, florida. most of those calls were from parents who were talking to their children on cell phones as they hid from that shooter in the high school. here is one of those calls. >> hello, 991, ma'am, go ahead. >> my son is in stoneman douglas high school. he said he heard noises and pops and he thinks there is a shooting going on at the school. >> okay. we do have police on scene at the school. police is on scene there. >> is it secure? >> the fear and the pain in that mother's voice. you can hear that right there. now, in one of those calls the parent tells her child to play
