breaking news right now in nepal. that )s where a passenger plane has crashed and burst into flames. this happened at the international airport in kathmandu. new video this morning from the scene shows a frantic situation. it )s obvious the plane broke up on landing. so far there are no confirmed deaths. but a tourist-office minister says 25 passengers

were rescued. this is a "u-s bangla" airlines jet arriving from bangladesh. 71 people were onboard. witnesses say the plane swerved on landing and that fire crews quickly put out the fire. now to the story we )ve been following closely since it started breaking friday morning-- over the weekend -- we found out more about the (3 women killed in a hostage situation at the )veterans home of california ) in yountville. they are - christine loeber, doctor jennifer golick, and jennifer gonzalez - who was newly married and expecting a child. all new this morning: the gunman )s brother is talking about what he says led )albert wong ) to kill the thre women, then take his own life.. the brother of the former army infantryman tells the press-democrat: wong ) had told family that he was angry with the staff -- and wanted to get back at them. the paper says wong was mad after being asked to leave the )pathway ) program. the staff reportedly discovered

underwater and only the pilot managed to get free. so far the cause is under investigation. but the pilot give a mayday call and witnesses knew the aircraft was in trouble. the helicopter belongs to a sightseeing company that )s popular with tourists. the passengers apparently could not free themselves while they were still strapped in, upside down in the water. happening today.. talking gun reform. warriors heads coach steve kerr will talk with bay area students about gun issues. he )s teaming up with congressman "ro khanna" for the forum. the event will be held at newark memorial high-- approximately (2-thousand peope from about (7 local schools are expected to take part. kerr and khanna came up with the idea-- after the two met following a warriors game in

washington, d.c. kerr has talked about gun reform for years now.. his father was assassinated while serving as the president of the american university in beirut when kerr was 18 years old. gun sales have been growing in recent years in california. new this morning: we are taking a closer look at sales in the bay area. according to the state justice department: most guns are sold by dealers - and a small number of dealerships account for the majority of sales. gun purchases have been increasing in every county in california. we )ve put the data on your screen - showing bay area gun sales between 2001- and 2015. santa clara county has the most sales - at over 360- thousand. san francisco has the least - with just over 18-thousand. former oakland raider and san francisco 49er aldon smith is due in court today .. to answer to domestic violence charges. smith turned himself in last week .. after police say he beat his girlfriend in san francisco. following that arrest .. the oakland raiders released him.

smith is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment. the hearing is scheduled for 1-30 this afternoon. developing this morning -- 4 oakland police officers are being interviewed. after they shot and killed a man who police officials says was armed. the incident unfolded last night .. outside a home on 40th street near market. this is a few blocks west of the macarthur bart station. police and swat teams were called in .. after reports of a man with a gun. the chairman of the oakland police commission actually went to the scene last night. he explains how police say the whole incident began. police have not released the name of the suspect. opd is planning to release more details later this morning. new this morning... neighbors say a small pet has been killed in the same area

where a mountain lion was recently spotted. neighbors last week reported that sighting on pescadero creek road. san mateo county authorities say last night -- a neighbor there heard a yelp after letting their small pet outside. the animal has not been seen since. there )s no proof this was a mountain lion attack. but the county did send out an alert following that report. closure in oakland

we learning new details this morning about a dangerous sideshow in the east bay over the weekend. our cameras captured the scene in oakland at 36-th avenue and international boulevard around four yesterday afternoon. police busted the crowd and detained a few people-- all minors. sideshows have been an ongoing problem for several bay area cities-- leading to several crackdowns.

an equipment failure - that put frozen eggs and embryos in jeopardy. over the weekend - the )pacific fertility center ) in san francisco said it started contacting impacted patients. the facility tells the )associated press ) that the clinic has tested a few thawed eggs - and found that they (are still viable. at last check - they had not tested any embryos.

this follows an unrelated - but similar incident - at a cleveland clinic. the clinic says a malfunction there impacts at least 21-hundred frozen eggs and embryos. victims say they )re planning to sue - over a malfunction that led to frozen embryos thawing. we are now hearing from victims. one woman says - she will now never be able to have a biological child. here )s her advice to others - who have lost embryos. the )today show ) has the full interview with this victim -- coming up at 7. happening today - members of a bart police review board meet to discuss a deadly police shooting in january. it happened near the west oakland bart station on january 3rd. body camera video shows the officer responding to

gunfire .. and a violent confrontation on the sidewalk. police say the man shot and killed was reaching for a gun on the ground when the officer fired. today )s meeting will be held by a citizens ) review board. it )s scheduled for 4 p-m. happening today... crews begin work on renovating a south bay cal train station. the "sunnyvale station rehabilitation project" will relocate a pedestrian crossing. that move will allow for more train cars to load and unload. most of the work will be done during the daytime hours. it )s expected to wrap some time this fall.

untested rape kits in california. they say they )ll discuss proposals to try and fix that problem. today - lawmakers will also screen a new documentary focused on the nationwide backlog. more details now: there are over (13-thousand untested kits in california. that )s according to a group tht advocates legislation to address the issue. if you don )t know - a )rape k) contains evidence, critical in sexual assault and rape cases. today california attorney general xavier becerra will discuss what to expect when president trump visits california tomorrow. president trump will be in the golden state for the first time since becoming president. he )ll land in san diego tomorrw morning. mr. trump is checking out border wall prototypes. and the president will hold a fundraiser in beverly hills. president trump has a contentious relationship with california. last week, the justice department sued the state over its lack of enforcement of immigration laws. and mister trump has criticized judges for blocking his

vianey, live it up, folks, dry roads for now. over here san jose we had a burst of traffic which is actually just starting to ease up now. short lived, about 15 minutes, what you would expect, though, right here 101 at the 680 interchange, right there, we see a little slowing. there is a fender-bender reported around 237 off 880. sounds like everything is off to the shoulder. i will track that. 880 and 29th, sounds like that one might be in lanes. i see slowing there, unrelated to the earlier power lines down but it is the same area we had the slowing earlier. also the backup over at the bay bridge as the metering lights are on. travel times 880 and the eastbound -- or westbound 80, the east shore freeway both show a slower drive but just starting to kick in right now. things are relatively smooth getting over toward the bay

leave the scene of the accident. two people walked up to that car shouting and banging on the window. other drivers tried to block that car but the driver mansion to drive around the corner. he gets blocked again and then other people seen trying to pry open the car doors, even taking pictures of the license plate. at one point a man uses a mallet to smash the windows of that car, the driver eventually got away but that driver was later arrested. new this morning two bay area women are behind bars accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of brass from a shopping center. police in full some say the women started a victoria's secret and store $11,000 worth of merchandise. police arrested 22-year-old blanca quintero from richmond and anna day welch from pittsburg. the store clerk called police and gave a description of the women, their car and some of the merchandise. police found a car and a description and made the arrest.
