right now with what to expect. we look outside in fremont it's a cold start, only 40 degrees. that morning drive through the east bay will be in the mid-30s in parts of the east bay and that will gradually warm up. by noon you head outside and it will be 57 degrees and a very nice day. as we look all around the bay area, reaching into the mid to upper 60s but not as bright and sunny as you probably like. we'll talk about the incoming storm in a few minutes. mike, you've been tracking a few issues out there on the roads. and i'll update a few issues. over here the broad view of the bay shows you a very nice drive, no major problems coming over the santa cruz, the sage bay does move smoothly. we're watching the crash 101 and we'll check on that in the next report. i wanted to show you these two crashes that showed up over here approaching the tri-valley wire actually heading away where from it. they're both eastbound. one crash is in the lane so be careful coming uhha 238 but a light bound commute in that northbound direction.

over here the posey tube is down to one lane. we're going to get a report coming up, but 2019 let you know that one lane is closed right now the out of alameda into downtown oakland at 10:00 both lanes will close. westbound 80, central avenue your middle slain blocked by one vehicle. that's causing slowing coming down from richmond out of san pablo. but overall travel time under a half hour approaching the backup at the bay bridge. back to you. happening today, the community is coming together to remember the three women killed in the yountville veterans home shooting. it's been just over two weeks since the veterans -- veteran and former participant if that pathway home mental health program went into the building and took the employees hostage. today in the bay pete suratos is live there and what can we expect today for this remembrance of life? >>reporter: good morning, to you, markus. it will be a celebration of the life of these three victims who

were killed here at the veterans home. it's going to take place, that memorial's going it take place lind me here at the lincoln theater in yountville. you can expect it to be a very emotional care moan as that takes place. those three victims that we are talking about are clinical director jennifer gray golick, kristine lobar, and jennifer gonzales who was a clinical psychologist at the pathway home when all this took place. all thee of them were killed on march 9th when a veteran and former participant in the pathway homes mental health program entered that building and took them host able. he kill those women before turning the gun on him receive. as for details on tonight's memorial service, it's being called a celebration of life. this was being dubbed by the organizers that's going to take place behind me at the napa valley performing arts center at the lincoln theater here at the veteran homes campus. that service is set to zbin at

daughter we all said, wow, what was that. >> it is unclear at this point whether this explosion is linked to the other bombings. there have been four explosions total in austin this month. two people were killed, another person seriously hurt, and now two young men are in the hospital. yesterday the austin chief of police increased the reward money to $115,000. continuing coverage four now on that matt massive fire that erupted in san francisco this weekend. they are reporting this morning that supervisor aaron pes kin is criticizing the fire chief saying that firefighters were video to pour water on the blaze. he also says he was unable to reach the chief when that fire explode. so far the chief has not responded to that criticism. it left about ten businesses damage and eight people without a place to stay. good news here, no one was hurt. now business owners are trying to figure out their next steps. >> everything is lost. everything. it's three to four feet water in

the basement. i tried to get in to our main computer. >> four years ago i dealt with the same situation and this is four year later again i'm dealing with the same -- maybe worse situation. >> the cause of that fire is still under investigation. happening today, classes are expected to resume at martinez junior high school after a violent threat kept students at home on friday. that threat was skrauled on a bathroom wall. school leaders also odded that the threat was found not to be credible. also happening today were we expect some east bay teachers to protest in the streets. alameda unified school board is set to hold a meeting tonight talk about next year's budget. union members say they want teacher's salaries to be a top priority. the teachers say they will rally and march to the meet willing at island high school which starts at 6:00 this morning. an oakland dmv is expected

to reopen after being closed for more than a mondeaux to flood damming. theed flooing happened after the copper wire was stole present building's heating and ac system. the office on 85th avenue is set to reopen at 8:00 this morning. investigators say that someone stole just $50 worth of copper wire last month and that sparked that water leek that flooded the entire office. damages were estimated in the 10s of thousands of dollars. so far no arrests. live to capitol hill this morning, washington is still reeling from the firing of fbi director andrew mccabe. this morning there are a lot of questions about what that firing could mean for the russia investigation. >> today in the bay's tracie potts is live in washington this morning to explain. good mrng, tracie. >> reporter: good morning. the deputy director mccabe says that the whole story has not been told here. he gave a detailed account of what he thinks say politicized firing and turned over his notes to the fbi of conversations with

county are trying to get ahead of the next storm system before it arrives. now they posted the free ook evacuation advisory for people who live near major wildfire burn yrps. the concern here a repeat of the devastating mudslide in montecito back in skbrant the next storm is due to arrive in southern california tomorrow and it may linger through thursday. right now at 6:09 we are tracking that storm not only for southern california but the bay area. we can see the center of this storm still spinning and it's drawing in some deep subtropical moisture. first pineapple express we've seen in a while. but the clouds are targeting southern california and that's where the heaviest rain will be, although we will also be on the outer fringes of this and get on some heavy rain. this will start out by tomorrow morning, continue through wednesday, and then we'll see some of the heaviest rain continue as we go throughout thursday as well as friday. still some lingering showers. and this will also bring heavy snow maker or be a heavy snow

a cirque du soleil performer died in a tragic accident. this is cole phone video the moments just after that catastrophic fall. it happened on saturday night during a show in tampa. the 38-year-old cac alaska cre bat was on the double chings when one of his hands slipped and he fell about 20 feet to his death. a local tampa tv reporter attended that show. >> all night it was a bunch of oohs and ahs and then when the performer fell and hit the floor you heard a loud gasp in there and then it was just quiet. >> kirk due soleil says that that performer that died toured with the company for 15 years. the last two shows in tamp april scheduled for yesterday were canceled. new this morning, delta air lines is looking into a mix-up that left two puppies, right there, temporarily stranded. now both have now arrived safely at their new homes in idaho. the breeder sent those dogs on the same plane sad from virginia to minneapolis but bad weather

computer. >> implant it on people. >> get the app. >> no? >> no? >> i went too far. >> too much. we are track something rain so if you do have the app this morning you can look at it on your smartphone and see where the rain is and i'll show what you it looks like and what we're expecting. here's a live look outside in san francisco as you get ready to head out the door. you've been starting to see more clouds move in within the past couple of hours and you can come on over and take a look at your microclimate as the seven-day forecast comes up at the bottom of the screen. we're starting in the south bay where today in san jose we're up to 68 degrees, it's going to be a beautiful afternoon. today no worries about rain, we'll start out with some sunshine but we will start to see some clouds moving in. we'll be up to 64 degrees in ukiah. and then as we go into the next couple of days expecting more rain but i wanted to show where you we in terms of our rainfall totals and how it measures up for the water year.

santa rosa we've gotten over 17 inches of rain but we're still mission 12 inches of rain. and mountain view you can see we've had over six inch there's but we still lacking about five inches. we are running at about 50% to 60% of normal. what's interesting is that we've had almost double the amount of rain or more than double in livermore, but most of the bay area getting at least our normal amounts and then some. and there's more rain on the way as we start out our hour-by-hour forecast we start to see the clouds moving in tomorrow. showers start to move in by late morning into early afternoon with some scatters activity and then it becomes more widespread he was go into tomorrow evening with some gusty winds. and that continues for the rest of the week, so a lost rain on the way. and the potential of getting at least 1 inch of rain for all of the bay area. there could be some spots getting over 3 inches of rain so i'll be tracking all of that starting out tomorrow morning as you tune in. as we head over to mike, we've

san francisco man whose movie subscription was abruptly canceled. nbc bay area responds to a san francisco man whose movies description was abruptly canceled. >> when he got fed up with all the drama, he called us for help. chris chmura sprang into action. chris. >> daniel said he and his wife bought into movie pass, the subscription service that lets you watch as many movies as you want in theaters for just $105 a year. they said they loved movie pass. but then daniel got a notice that his membership was canceled effective immediately for violating the terms of service. now it's odd here is that his wife's membership wasn't canceled, even though they said they had been to the exact same

it's typical out of san martine up to about maybe up to dunn and then it's cleared by the time get to cochran. that's tk typical as you head by morgan hill. over toward the bay bridge we're still under 35 minutes, that's great. the earlier crash did clear west 80 around central. you're she from highway 4 down to the bay bridge and the backup to the toll plaza. nimitz moves freelg you've got more congestion pu intercontinental ballistic missile i'm handing it back to you, chris. >> right now a traffic mess in the east bay, crews have been repairing a sinkhole that opened up at the end of the posey tube. >> today in the bay is live in thereto explain how this could impact the traffic in this commute this morning. good morning. >> reporter: yeah, markus and kris, it has been a traffic nightmare trying to get to almade oo to oakland since saturday. it's all due to a sinkhole on the posey tube. you can see traffic lined up here as cars are reduced to a single lane of traffic.

you can see from sky ranger from up above that line. start agent 10 clock a.m. both lanes will be closed ant entire tunnel will be shut down so crews can get to work. the traffic has been impact the since saturday. this is video of how business yt roads were over the weekend. some people sat in traffic for up to 45 minutes. ac transit advising drivers to plan for even longer delays, especially during the peak commute hours. this is all due to a sinkhole caused by damaged storm pipe. ac transit is also suggest fug commute two and from san francisco to take the ferry instead. and some good news, a service plan has been put in place to keep buses running. sfep buslines will be affected by the detour, those are on your screen. you can see they're lines 19, 20, 51a, 851, 96, w, and the o-line. these are buss that go from alimmediate add to oakland. this repair work is likely to go through midnight today.

they say they have got the project but it could take until the end of the week until it's all fixed. be prepared for long commutes. reporting live in alameda. well, today students will return to close at florida international university just days after a new pedestrian bridge crumbled killing six people. today, the first lawsuit is also expected to be filed in that tragic bridge collapse. the person filing that lawsuit was injured when the pedestrian bridge which was under construction fell to the ground last thursday. in the meantime, the president of fiu is asking people around the country to join them in a moment of silence today. that will happen at 1:47 eastern time, the minute the bridge collapsed. developing this morning, the chp is asking for help of other drivers who may have seen what they now believe say road rage shooting that seriously injured a 5-year-old girl. this happened at around 9:00 on saturday night on eastbound

interstate 80 near willow avenue. chp says that there were four people in that car. that girl sufrd major injuries. a woman in her 60s was also suffered minor injuries. chp shut down sections of freeway for more than four hours to investigate. we spoke with one person who says she cannot believe ha happened. >> there shouldn't be no road rage like that. i mean, especially for a little girl. >> now so far there has been no update on the girl's condition and right now the chp is not releasing information about clues or possible suspects. new this morning, a warning at stanford university, this after five reported car break-ins this weekend. university police say that there were vehicles parked near the museum area, specifically on lasupe street, roth way and low nooet meeta drive. place say whoever is responsible for this broke into those windows. they say that the thief or thieves took laptops and

backpacks. we're learning more about the intense search for a richmond man missing in the sierra. he has been mission since wednesday after a day of skiing. six feet of snow fell since thomas mularkey was last seen on wednesday. search efforts have been impaired because of that same snow, heavy snow and avalanche dangers. his niece tells us that weather conditions improved and teams were able to search by air and on foot but came up empty. mularkey is an avid skier and his family believes that he has the skills to survive in the snow. they believe he may have built a snow cave. the crews were focusing their search near large trees where he would have done that and his family is still holding on to hope that he will be found safe. it's 6:36. happening today santa clara police say they want to talk about the perception some people have on the department. now police say that this move comes after a citywide survey and focus group. citizens policing workshop is set for 7:00 p.m. is at central park library.

a new warning from state health officials for the bay area. people are being told not to eat mussels, clams, or scallops that are krek creationally harvested out of bay in alameda and contra costa counties because the shellfish have dangerous levels of poisonous toxins that can become deadly. there are other similar warnings that effect for others counties. but this morning does not apply to shellfish that are commercially sold because the ones that you buy from a vendor are tested for toxins. happening today in san francisco, work finally began to opportunity old muni car barn into a youth performing arts center. we're talking about the historic geneva car barn and powerhouse. this is right across from balboa bart and muni station. the ground breaking ceremony takes place later this morning. it will take $14 million to renovate the place. the building opened in 1901 but was closed after it was badly damaged in the 1989 earthquake.

you may feel some rumbling under your feet in the south bay. that's because testing for high speed rail is happening. several roads are going to be shut down around san jose. they will be doing geological shake tests. they're going use some big equipment to create ground shaking that high speed rail trains could create as they zip on through. that information will then help to design the tracks that will eventually be laid there. the tests will go on all week. all right. more than just a test, looking at this chopper view, had is the repair work, they're not testing it they have to repair the road work. these are folks heading from alameda to oakland. the wester tube goes one way, the posey tube the other that's a nice shot showing you the live traffic. let's go to the map and show you where that's located. the east shore freeway behind me, the walnut interchange in

concord. they're all moving way well. the nimitz moves smoothly across the scene. but right now, alameda to oakland, that's the tube restricted to one lane right now and will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to midnight today. you're going use to the south and i'll mark what circles the parkway bridge and frutd veil bridge. there's also a couple of roads just south of there but that will take you well out of your way so you'll want to know about these bridges. from 10:00 to midnight. the rest of the bay moves nicely, no major problems for the south bay. we'll talk a longer commute coming up next. >> all right. we were talking about the weather for the weekend. we're going to have a lot of rain to get through before we get to the weekend and it's still going to be raining on your saturday. as you start to make plans on this monday morning for the

presidential election. a british-based data company is under fire accused of taking data from some 50 million facebook profiles to influence the 2016 presidential election. a whistleblower claims cambridge analytica paid users to take a survey then cam period their personal datt which included users friends and contacts. steve ban nan had ties to that project and wanted to use that data according to whistleblower. the whistleblower appears this morning on the today show. he says he left the company before the presidential election. >> what i do know is that cambridge analytic ka was meeting with cory lieu within douse sky in trift and offering the services that i'm talking about right now. >> according to some reports facebook knew about that data collection for two years but didn't stop it. facebook suspend business with cambridge analytica even though spokesperson there is refuting the claim. you can see that segment coming up at 7:30 on the today show

some much heavier rainfall compared to what we've seen recently. and it returns tomorrow, it will be a windy and warmer storm, that means it starts out as rain for the see era and then changes over to snow for the bay area. our five-day rainfall totals will be at 1 to 3isms, some of the heaviest rain will be over southern california and the sierra could get another 3 to 4 feet of snow. and we are looking at that rain arriving as early as late tomorrow morning continuing off and on as we go throughout the week. more details on that coming up. heading over to mike, you've been tracking what's happening out there and i was looking at some slow goes already. >> i did see a tow truck actually over here between the two areas on the roadway by two merges on to the freeway. that tow truck cleared and i saw three other sets of flashing lights head north of this shot, 101 at the 280 interchange there on the mop. that's typically where we see

here on today in the bay. >> yountville this morning community members will gather to remember the life and work of the three women shot and killed at the veterans home there. they're jennifer goe lick, kristine lobar and jennifer gonzalez all three worked to change the lives of veterans battling post traumatic stress disorder. celebration of life is at napa valley performing arts center in lincoln center. the service starts at 6:00, doors open at 4:30 and it's expected to be very well attended. we will air that claition celebration of life on cozi tv. >> a live look where the sinkhole on the posey tube is creating a big problem for drivers. it first appeared on saturday that's when a ruptured storm pipe created a sinkhole. the crews keeping one lane of the tube open until 10:00 this morning when the work resumes.

at that point both lanes will be closed until around midnight. work may take up to one week to complete. another explosion in austin, texas, injured two people. there has bane strieen a string explosions in the past couple weeks. the latest was yesterday. police say the device was placed next to a roadway and may have been triggered by a trip wire, although all of that is still under investigation. there have been a total of four explosions in austin this month. two people were killed. business owners in san francisco's north beach district are trying to figure out the next steps after a massive building fire broke out over the weekend. that fire started saturday night and damaged about ten businesses. eight people who lived there there are also without a home, but no one was hurt. this morning the sf gate reports that supervisor aaron pes kin is criticizing the fire chief saying the firefighters were slow to pour water on to the fire. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. classes resume at martinez

junior high school this morning where school was canceled on friday because of a violent threat found scrawled on a bathroom wall. school leaders say the threatened upped being not credible. east bay teachers are planning to protest today. the alameda school board will hold an emergency meeting tonight to talk about next year's budget. union members say they want teacher's salaries to be a top priority so they'll rally and march to the meeting. it starts at 6:00 at island high and that starts at 6:00 at island high school in alameda. happening today, good news in oakland. the dmv that's been closed for more than a month because of flood damage is expected to finally reopen. the coliseum dmv office flooded after someone stole about $50 worth of copper wire from the building's heating and ac system. that little theft caused a big water leak which flooded the entire office. no one has been arrested so far. well, the weather today
