facebook bought ads in multd luis palomino u.s. and british newspapers saying the social media platform doesn't deserve to hold personal information if it can't protect it. and despite this apology effort, facebook is facing a new scrutiny amid a new report from website art technica claiming they collected phone numbers and text messages from androids. this is an opt-in feature to give users a better experience. opting out is spacex ceo elon musk. musk has deleted the facebook pages for both his companies saying it wasn't a political statement, but he just doesn't like facebook. >> back in washington it looks as though the president may not be done with shaking up his administration. news outlets are eyeing va secretary david shulkin, i should say, as the next person out of the administration. the associated press writes, quote, donald trump is planning to oust embattled veterans affair secretary david shulkin amid an extraordinary rebellion at the agency and demanding government investigations into

his alleged spending abuse. shulkin teeters on the edge of removal after a tumultuous few weeks for the trump administration, following the resignations of his secretary of state, national security advisor, chief economic advisor and own lawyer. for more we go to nbc's tracee pots. good morning and what other changes can we expect? >> reporter: well, the president's own lawyers may be moving again. it looks like the two that he picked to join his team will not be joining his team. take a look. that means that only these two are not joining the team, meaning that only jay sekulow would be left as "the new york times" said at a critical juncture as a largely one-man operation defending the president in this russia investigation. meanwhile, david shulkin, the va secretary, may be on shaky ground as well according to a close confidant of president trump. >> he did say that he's expecting to make one or two

in afghanistan but was later convicted of drug crimes has been deported. 39-year-old miguel perez, jr., had been living in the u.s. since he was 11, but was never granted citizenship. he had been sentenced to 15 years in prison for drug crimes. his lawyer tells nbc news he was dumped in one of the most dangerous areas of the mexican border and no money and only his prison uniform. he vows to fight his dais and continue his citizenship denial. >> 36 people were killed in a siberian town when a fire slept through a shopping mall according to russian news agencies. the fire blazed for 12 hours at the winter cherry mall. it started on the fourth floor, consuming over 17,000 square feet of the mall. government funded news service r.t. reported that 11 children were among the dead and 40 more were among the missing. russian law officials confirmed a criminal investigation has been opened. >> this morning democrats' chances to take back the house got one seat easier after

republican ryan costello of pennsylvania told nbc's kasie hunt he was not running for lee election, opting to drop out citing the political environment. the congressman calling the move a, quote, deeply personal decision. said the very angry environment within politics and alleged hate from the left forced his hand. however, it was just days ago the supreme court paved the way for a new congressional map in pennsylvania that made the congressman's own district more democratic than before. >> apple has proposed 13 new emojis to represent people with disabilities. in collaboration with organizations like cerebral palsy foundation and the national association of the deaf, apple said it plans to offer greater representation in the emoji universe. the emojis could include characters like a guide dog, people using canes and wheelchairs or hearing aids and prosthetic limbs. they are calling it an initial starting point so here we are, every time we see the launch of new emojis, good to see this group represented.
