cleared out of lanes and the distraction not looking like a problem. here is the peninsula, palo alto, 101 is clear between the city and south bay. 6:01. we start with breaking news, a major development overnight regarding adult film actress stormy daniels legal case against president donald trump. could the president have to testify under oath? early this morning daniels' attorney released this court filing and the text of it, it seeks to depose president trump and his lawyer michael cohen. daniels' attorney filed this motion yesterday in california's central district court. the attorney likely wants to ask the president and his attorney cohen about that so called hush money that daniels received right before election day in 2016. it was $130,000. the president denies having an affair with daniels which she says began in 2006. continuing coverage for you this morning, traffic moving again at oakland international airport after this right here, an suv jumped a curb at terminal

one last night. four people were injured. a lot of people missed their flights because that right there, they couldn't get to those terminals. "today in the bay's" bob redell is live at the airport this morning to explain what happened and, bob, do we know about that driver? >> well, that driver was arrested. good morning, marcus. the alameda county sheriff's office has emphasized that what happened here last night at oakland international airport was not an act of terrorism, rather an accident that ended with that driver in handcuffs and being taken to jail. take a look at this scene, this happened around 6:00 last night. the 15-year-old driver of that maroon suv collided with another vehicle in front of terminal one here at oakland international. four people were hurt including two pedestrians who were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, two other people refused treatment including one who was hit by flying luggage. the sheriff's office has not released the name of that driver yet but did arrest this person for felony reckless driving that

resulted in an injury and for driving without a license. >> his foot at some point got stuck on the accelerator and that he was not very familiar with operating a motor vehicle. >> reporter: no flights were canceled, but we know of some passengers who missed their flights because the main road into the airport was shut down for a couple of hours last night. as you can see on this video from nbc bay area sky ranger, a number of passengers hopped out of their rides and hooved it into the terminals with their will you go ganl. you might also notice the tremendous presence by law enforcement at first deputies did not know what kind of situation they were dealing with, which explains the initial swift and overwhelming response. again, the sheriff's office says this was not a terrorist attack, rather an accident. reports live here at oakland international, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> good thing that there were only minor injuries in this situation. thank you so much, bob, for the update. 603 now. mourners today will attend a

wake for the sacramento man shot and killed by police. officers say they thought stephon clark was holding a gun in his hand which was, in fact, only a cellphone. that was the scene outside a city council meeting in sacramento where protests got very heated. not only outside but also inside. council members hoped to hold an open discussion with the public on that shooting, but it was postponed when protesters took over. the brother of stephon clark was there calling for justice. >> stop. stop. stop. stop, y'all. stop. please. my brother just got shot. >> i'm dedicated to making sure that we gather all the facts, conduct a thorough investigation and promise we will continue to be transparent throughout the process. >> now, you just heard that was the police chief promising a thorough investigation. we know state leaders are also taking their own look, but that does not replace the local investigation. happening today, san francisco firefighting strategies will be the focus of

a planned fire commission meeting. this comes following recent controversy over how crews responded to a fire in north beach. supervisor aaron peskin initially criticized how firefighters attacked the flames and did so at the scene of that fire. he has since apologized. happening today we are one step closer to the new transbay terminal in san francisco, these are the renderings here. ac transit leaders want to hear from you, from commuters, before they roll out that new transbay tomorrow project. >> "today in the bay's" pete suratos is live in san francisco to explain how that project could impact your commute. good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, marcus and kris. it could impact the commute if you are an ac transit rider that's what those two meetings will take place later today to talk about how they might make some changes, the board of directors, to some of the frequency times for some routes in the east bay. there will be two meetings later today where riders can weigh in.

as kris just mentioned the transbay transit center set to open at some point this year, ac transit will launch their services soon there. there are now double-decker buses, we will some pictures of the double-decker buses if you remember those were in the pilot phase in 2015 but those will be used to accommodate more passengers with ac transit who serves more than 170,000 folks daily. as far as today's meetings goes, it's going to focus on proposed line changes for ac transit when it comes to folks in the east bay with a number of lines, in fact, we will show you a few of those lines, some of those areas you've got line f in berkeley, look to go increase the frequency of bus lines around the uc berkeley campus, then over in richmond when it comes to line l and line la. they want to improve travel times in that san pablo dam corridor, also line e in san leandro and oakland, they want to eliminate the reverse commute trip times because of low ridership in the area. now, let's get to those meeting

times for folks that want to weigh in. there is one taking place at 12:00 p.m. here in san francisco at golden gate university at 536 mission street. later tonight at 6:00 p.m. if you are in oakland it also at the ac transit general offices at 1600 franklin street in oakland. so at those times the public will get a chance to weigh in and they are expecting to make a final decision in april and those changes could happen as early as august of this year. we're live in san francisco, pete suratos for "today in the bay." you know what this he say, put up or shut up. got to have your say. it is 6:07. angry teachers plan to attend fremont unified's board meeting tonight to call for a new contract agreement. they have been talking about this for more than a year now and the union says both sides are at a stalemate. union leaders say current wages are inadequate here in silicon valley. also at tonight's meeting board members will discuss a controversial proposed sex ed program. some parents say that the series of classes that are scheduled to

begin next month are not appropriate but the district says those classes are essential. new this morning we are getting the first look at the long awaited plans to revamp the old vallco mall in cupertino. the developer is bypassing city leaders submitting the proposal under a new law that requires cities to approve certain projects that include housing. we looked up the details of that plan overnight. the proposed vallco town center includes more than 2400 housing units which half of those meet the affordable mark. the plan also calls to keep an ice rink there as well as a bowling alley, bring back the movie theater and adding office space. >> kind of like the old one. happening tonight, former first lady michelle obama will be at oracle arena. move over steph clark -- >> curry. >> curry. she's taking part in a conversation that starts at 8:00. mrs. obama is expected to talk about her time in the white house. she will also talk about inspiring young people and girls to seek higher education.

it's going to be much warmer than yesterday and the seven-day forecast is up at the bottom of the screen. our warmest days we will be heading into those by the end of the week. we are up to 77 degrees today in gilroy, east bay up to 78 degrees in antioch, vallejo at 77 and fremont we are looking at 76 degrees there. 75 in san mateo and palo alto at 76 degrees and 66 at the outer sunset. north bay 80 in novato and 83 in santa rosa. it's a good da i to head out for a jog but it will be cool in san francisco through at least 9:00. that may be the best time to go. then it warms up into the mid 60s by early afternoon. now, whatever i'm allergic to hasn't bloomed yet, i'm good for now, but trees and grasses are really high, i've been hearing people sneezing and sniffling if whatever you are allergic to is blooming at this point. take your allergy medication before you go hiking. in the north bay we will have perfect weather at noon and it

san francisco man whose credit nbc bay area responds to a san francisco man whose credit card points just disappeared. >> vanished, $3,000 worth. consumer investigating chris chmura explains what we did about it and what you should watch for on your bills. >> john russo had an american express gold card for about is a years. he said he earned reward points for every dollar he spent and racked up a balance of 400,000 of them, but when he went to use those points in february, american express said his balance was suddenly zero. john says american express told him his points vanished because he had downgraded his gold card to a green card instead. he said he had no idea that would happen. so he contacted our team. american express declined to comment specifically on john's case but in general it said if you have an american express card with membership rewards and

problem in fremont. >> a new one because we had one existing already for the nimitz. looking and your map shows you not really any problems for your commute direction, a smoother flow, slower through pleasanton and hayward for 880 down in out of san leandro. we are talking about this stretch of roadway, the new one is a crash north 680 or durham, we are looking at heading countercommute, a crash may be blocking one lane, again, counter commute and even the commute direction southbound looking good. northbound 880 north auto mall metal debris in your right lanes. a little break coming out of the altamonte, lighter drive through the tri-valley and over toward the bay bridge. here is the san mateo bridge, we have a lower drive now on the flat section as you can see but no problems. back to you. 6:32 right now. emotions continue to run very high and very hot in sacramento after police shot and killed an unarmed black man.

the city council was supposed to have a public meeting to talk about the issue last night, but this is what happened instead. >> inside the chambers dozens of people voiced their outrage over the police shooting death of stephon clark. one person was arrested outside the meeting. that meeting was eventually shut down. "today" show's joe fryer is in sacramento. new this morning he spoke with clark's mother ahead of what could be another day of protests. >> reporter: good morning, marcus and kris. another emotional evening here in sacramento. last night the city council held a special meeting that was dedicated to discussing the shooting death of stephon clark. hundreds of people attended filling the city hall, nearly 300 people we're told signed up to speak, but on a couple of occasions things were so tense the mayor actually called for a recess. in fact, the meeting was supposed to last six hours and it ended up lasting only three and a half hours.

outside some protesters then went to the sacramento kings arena and blocked the entrance. that's the second time that's happened in the past week preventing many fans from getting inside the game. clark was shot and killed last week by two officers who said they thought he was carrying a gun, but in fact it was only a cellphone. we spoke yesterday with clark's grandmother. take a listen to what she had to say. >> and why would you empty 20 bullets on an unarmed man? why would you do that? >> do you want to see charges in this case? >> yes. yes. >> reporter: now, the county's district attorney will ultimately decide if the two officers should be charged in this case, but now california's department of justice is joining the investigation. it is not taking over the investigation, but will conduct an independent review. mean while, clark's family is preparing for his funeral which will take place tomorrow. marcus and kris. >> thank you. you can catch his full report

coming up on the "today" show at 7:00 right after "today in the bay." it is 6:34. happening today students at a south bay high school will head back to class after they were evacuated in dramatic fashion because of a threatening robocall. this was the scene at cupertino high school yesterday afternoon. >> "today in the bay's" roz plater is live at the school this morning with what we know about that threatening call and, roz, do we know where that call came from? >> reporter: well, investigators have some leads on it because this is something they say they are familiar with, but of course they are hoping to get back to normal here today as classes resume after that dramatic as you said emergency evacuation during their lunch hour yesterday and parents and students told us that this was both frightening and frustrating. i have to show you some of that video, it shows the chaos of the students fleeing from the school after they got that robocall threat about 1:00 in the afternoon. now, the students were told to get off campus as quickly as they could. some ran to nearby businesses to

shelter until their parents could pick them up. >> it was a little bit scary because you weren't expecting something like this to happen in the middle of the da i. >> i saw a bunch of cops. i was furious, i was like this has got to stop. >> reporter: now, deputies searched the campus but found no credible threat and gave the all clear about an hour and a half later. as it turns out deputies told us the robocall came from a number that has been traced to similar threats at schools across the country. now, this is the second time now in just a few weeks for folks here at cupertino high school, last month there was a bomb threat that made them have an emergency evacuation as well. for now we are live in cupertino, i'm roz plater for "today in the bay." >> with the atmosphere right now this is something you don't play with so i'm sure that those kids were very scared and still will be scared coming back. >> thank you very much, roz. it is 6:36 right now. happening today closing arguments are expected to begin

in the trial for the widow of the pulse nightclub shooter. bay area native noor salman is accused of aiding and abetting her husband omar mateen on your screen. he was behind the terror attack at the orlando pulse nightclub in june of 2016. the defense rested yesterday and prosecutors did not call any rebuttal witnesses. prosecutors argue that salman knew her husband was buying rounds of ammunition and that she also knew about his plan to open fire inside the pulse nightclub. mateen killed 49 people in that attack. happening today, the family of a man shot and killed by police last month will demand body camera video of that incident to be released. february 13th vallejo police shot and killed ronell foster. investigators say that he was riding his bike in an unsafe manner and took off when stopped. he died during an altercation with sners and police called it self defense. civil rights attorney john burris is taking on this case and plans to hold a news conference this afternoon. some oakland teachers say

they will protest at several schools including joaquin miller, montara middle school, is a coyia and also oakland tech. the teachers join is calling for more paid planning time, higher al reese and smaller class sizes. happening today much needed safety improvements began on vasco road in contra costa county. crews will replace those orange posts that divide lanes with rumble strips on the ground. that way when the driver veers off of the road those strips can alert them quickly. and i think notification the quicker the better when you are potentially driving off the road of course. looking over here on the roads you can see more traffic this is at the toll plaza westbound 80 -- 580 heading over towards the san leandrafael side of the richmond-san rafael bridge. most of those are traveled past west 580 at harvard, there is a crash involving a big rig, on the showered. don't see a lot of slowing. don't see a lot of slowing

around that area except for the bay bridge and east shore freeway which is pretty traditional. we have some stop sign like activity because the signal is out in vallejo west highway 37 and highway 29, that's getting over toward the backup at mare island. that will complicate things. 1,200 folks affected by a smaller power outage in the area. the rest of the bay moves slowly. still tracking fremont for the crash on 680. weatherwise today -- >> we have some beautiful weather, not only the next couple days but that continues into your weekend. so as you make plans it is looking gorgeous. 64 degrees along the coast, the bay will be at 70 degrees and up to 75 degrees for the inland valleys. a little cooler than what we will have today and also on sunday. i know it's easter, maybe you have an easter egg hunt planned. it's going to be sunny, low 70s. all you will need will be sunglasses. if you are planning to head to

now normally we are at 67 degrees so we are going well above and beyond that. some spots may set a new record today. we will talk about that, what to whaer and also that seven-day forecast coming up in less than five minutes. here are your south bay travel times, northbound 101 at the top of your screen boggs down as you approach capital expressw expressway, general slowing for all your routes through silicon valley coming out of the origin which in the most part is san jose. looking at the east bay not so bad, we will stort things out on the bigger map coming up. the fire department drone happening today, menlo park firefighters say that they will officially unveil a new piece of technology. overnight the department released pictures they say they've been training and testing that drone. the department says that it uses a special camera to see through smoke. in testing the department says that the drone easily located more than 100 victims in complete darkness and through the smoky haze.

warm weather just in time for spring break and also easter. let's talk about our high temperatures today where we're headed and some records that may be set. i think we could set some records in santa rosa and napa where our high temperatures today will reach into the low 80s based on my forecast. 83 degrees the record today, 82 degrees in napa, 81 is that old record is 78 degrees. these other areas interest concord, oakland, san jose to mountain view will be very close, but i think we will have to really watch those north bay numbers. as you head out the door for school maybe these are the last couple days of school before spring break or also having good friday off. it's going to be in the low 50s heading out the door, but by the time you walk home from school, it's going to be in the mid 60s. so just absolutely perfect. let's get dressed this morning as you look out the window you see that sunshine, it is still cool, but i think it's a good day for the shorts and sandals. we will be breaking those out as it feels more like spring. if you've been sneezing, here is

regarding stormy daniels' legal case against president trump. early this morning daniels' attorney released the text of a court filing which seeks to depose president trump and his lawyer michael cohen. daniels' attorney filed that motion yesterday in california's central district court. the attorney likely wants to ask about so-called hush money that daniels received before the election day in 2016. the president denies having an affair with daniels, which she says happened in 2006. looking live at oakland international airport this morning, much quieter than it was last night after a terrifying moment when an suv jumped the curb at terminal one. that crash hurt four people. the good news here, alameda county sheriff's office says this was not an act of terrorism. they say it was just some bad driving. officials tell us the driver was not familiar with that particular car. authorities did arrest him for driving without a license and also for felony reckless driving. stephon clark.
