morning. i want to get you through the door for your commute. 40s the next couple of hours and reaches into the mid-60s, it's going to be a warm day. here's a look at the highs, low 80s and for the coast 60s and 70s. san francisco, 71 degrees. we'll talk about what's ahead for this week as the rain returns coming up in a few minutes. let's look at traffic. >> a shout out for covering the storms. a much smoother drive than she had for you guys on friday. no problem with visibility. great conditions as kari is talking about. no problem towards the bay bridge. at speed except for right at the toll plaza. a couple of cash lanes backing up a tad bit. slowing northbound across the golden gate bridge. we didn't have problems -- it's not coming on. we had a bridge crew clearing

this is one of our tweets. our coverage continues at 5:00 a.m. with a live report with "today in the bay." >> police credit the courage of one b.a.r.t. rider helping save the lives of two stabbing victims. this happened yesterday and the closed the b.a.r.t. coliseum station in oakland. a mentally disturbed marn followed two people off the train and attacked them near the fare gates. the fearless passerby tackled the suspect and disarmed them. >> a courageous andselfless act intervened and grabbed the knife from the suspect and in the process his hands were cut but he was able to get the knife away from the suspect and then he was able to tackle the suspect to the ground. >> 32-year-old robert dolt is now facing attempted murder charges. the good samaritan htim is in c

condition this morning. working to identify a body found in the same area where two parents intentionally drove their suv off a cliff last month. it's believed their six adopted children were inside. there are reports tourists found the body of an african-american female floating in the water near fort bragg over the weekend. the bodies of sara and jennifer hart and three of their adopted children have not been found. >> new this morning, parking is apparently the most expensive driving related expense for americans. looking live at the bay bridge toll plaza. in total the average driver paid over $10,000 in 2017, roughly one third if more than $3,000 went to parking fees and fines. bob re-dell joins us with a live report from walnut creek. >> a lot of money. tomorrow mark zuckerberg will testify before a senate

global headquarters, here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set to open higher after stocks sold off on friday. the dow ended the session in correction territory on continued concerns about the potential trade war between the u.s. and china. we get data this week on inflation, minutes from last month's fed meeting and earnings season officially gets under way with results from jp morgan chase, citigroup and wells fargo. on friday, the dow fell 572 points to 23,932. the nasdaq was down 161 to 6 sts

ad lib live pictures in san jose.. . welcome back. a live look outside overlooking san jose this morning. looking for a nice day. spring sprung while i was gone. >> a whole lot happened while you were gone. >> you were right. >> it did feel that long. >> her kids are like 18, crazy. we had a lot of fun last week if you were following me on facebook, we went to so many places did a staycation and hung out with the kids and we had beautiful weather until about friday as i know. then as we go through this week it's going to be kind of off and on. we're going to see rain moving in. we start out with cool temperatures this morning and the seven-day forecast is coming up in the bottom of the screen. morgan hill starts out at 44 degrees. one of the cooler spots, a little warmer in san francisco where it's 52 degrees. 45 now in napa. as you check out that seven-day

forecast you'll see it will be cooling down and we will have some rain chances in there but look at how warm it's going to be today. we're talking some low to mid-80s for the south bay, up to 84 degrees in east san jose and in gilroy today, 82 degrees for the high. 74 degrees in oakland and also 74 in vallejo and 77 in san mateo. san francisco, low 70s there for the east side of the city and mission district as well, 71. and 79 today in novato. as we start out this morning, it's one of those days you have to dress in layers. even though we do have a cool start, we will have a very warm afternoon. i'm recommending the jacket and then maybe a dress for today as we are going to be tracking our next storm system set to move in by tomorrow. and it does bring in spotty showers for the north bay during the morning. the rest of the bay area won't see that rain until the afternoon. as you can see, it's not going

to be a big widespread heavy rain maker. it's going to be a quick one and done as a line of showers moves through and we'll have more rounds as we head into wednesday as well as thursday. this first one brings about a tenth of an inch of rain or less for much of the bay area. looking at this seven-day forecast, it will be cooling off, wednesday a chance of rain, also for early thursday morning and then the rest of the forecast is dry as we warm it up in the low 70s by the weekend, inland areas will be in the upper 70s. now as we head over to mike, you have a crash here in the altamont pass. >> indeed, kari, we're looking at most of the bay with green speed sensors. we see your traditional slowing out of the altamont and greenville off ramp. tl there's a minor crash there. we'll mark it in case that's where you exit. most of our viewers are in livermore, 84 sees a little slowing and overnight construction and no surprises

there. a nice smooth drive out of south county, gilroy, morgan hill, 101 running smoothly. slow moving trucks over the summit but no major problems. the bay bridge, we actually -- this person right there see them backing up, that's a problem. there's a quick traffic break and fender bender near the toll plaza. see that. they pulled the flashing lights to the side and traffic is back again. everything is okay after a couple seconds on the bay bridge. looks like it's smooth through the maze and san rafael moving nicely as well. >> thanks, mike. 4:48 right now. t mourning continues after 15 were killed when a hockey team bus collided with a big rig. the players come from a small community that is together right now coping with such a huge

loss. >> going to take some work, some support from not only the community but from elsewhere to get through this. >> 14 others on that bus were injured, some critically. >> it is 4:49, happening today. bill cosby's retrial begins in pennsylvania. opening statements start in just hours, the first trial ended with a deadlocked jury. the comedian is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2005. cosby claims the interaction was consensual. in this trial, five other women also with accusations against cosby will testify. so will one of the victims former co-workers who claims to have told her she could get money by making a false claim against cosby. here's the legal analyst. >> if she's believed then that evidence is devastating to the credibility of the complainant

good morning to you. beautiful monday morning as we start the day. taking a live look in san francisco, the weather not too bad today. kari hall will have a track of that in just a minute. nbc bay area responds to the victims of the north bay wildfires on the six-month anniversary of the firestorm. >> chris explains why some people are feeling stuck because insurance companies paperwork. >> good morning, some fire victims complain that their recovery is on hold because of an almost insurmountable task. we're talking about people who lost their homes and everything inside. they say they can't get 100% of their insurance money unless they verify every item that burned with a detailed written inventory. >> i think all of it is
