showers. take you outside. a live look at san francisco. there you go. just within the last few minutes, storm cloud hanging over the city. the rain had begun to fall. >> tracking conditions, a chance for thunderstorms, vianey? >> that's right. we have a couple of good chances of isolated thunderstorms. looks like my peninsula camera gave out there. rain on the camera. showers coming down. north bay also seeing rain out there. the east bay, getting cloudy, but at least we got through a majority of the morning. now, look at doppler radar. active. we can actually see thunderstorms forming. this is further up north. we will get our chance of seeing isolated thunderstorms for tomorrow as well, because this is a colder system, a colder storm. showers now moving through napa. the novato area, san ral jefael well. keeping the rain all night long. san francisco right now getting some of that rain, south san

given gives you a five-minute warning when rain will hit your area. and two men arrested after an alarming crime in mountain view. police say about 2:00 a.m., they tried kidnapping a woman downtown. walking by a restaurant on the 200 block of castro street when the men allegedly tried pushing her into a vehicle. her friends dime her aid. one of the suspects grabbed a gun from the car and pointed it at the woman's friend. the struggle took place before the suspects got in the car, drove away while firing the gun. two men tracked down at they are home in menlo park and arrested. still no arrested after a violent scene on the freeway. about 7:00 someone opened fire on 580 in richmond forcing police to close the westbound lanes. conducting a traffic stop actually witnessing the shooting. happened neve second avenue. the suspect fired more than 20

shots. a van hit, but nobody injured. police is not announced arrests. the investigation is ongoing. and rushing to finish taxes before the deadline. nancy pelosi was in san francisco slamming the republican tax bill saying it hurts working-class americans and hits california especially hard. live in san francisco, our reporter explains. >> reporter: that's right. nancy pelosi was here in san francisco today, and she called the republicans new tax law basically a dark cloud over the capitol, and fraud. attending town hall meetings across the country and what these she's trying to do, educate people how they would be directly impacted by this and the budget and wants to create a unified opposition to the law. she spoke at a press conference today in san francisco at the labor council alongside organizers of the tax march last year. pelosi also said the bill gives

militarization. >> yesterday people protested outside of the san francisco home of congresswoman nancy pelosi and senator dianne feinstein. people around the country and the world speaking out about the air strikes in syria. today at the white house, a clarification about a recent tweet by the president. as well as a new warning for syrian president bashar al assad. nbc's jennifer johnson has the story from washington. >> reporter: despite targeted military air strikes on syria's chemical weapons sites, the white house is concerned president bashar al assad still has and may use chemical weapons again and is warning assad to be on guard. >> we know it is now up to president bashar al assad whether he'll use chemical weapons again and should he use it again, the president made it very clear that the united states is locked and loaded and ready to go. >> reporter: the white house says president trump's tweet of "mission accomplished" was referring only to friday night's coordinated action by the u.s., britain and france, which

destroyed three different research, production and storage sites. >> they also sent a strong message to syria, to russia, to iran that when this president has a red line, he will enforce it. >> reporter: assad met with russian lawmakers today calling the strikes an act of aggression. russia is helping assad fight militants opposed to his rule. now some members of congress say president trump needs to consult with them if there's further military action. >> we need to have these discussions because we don't see that bashar al assad will all of a sudden become a real nice guy. >> reporter: both syria and russia have dismissed reports of the gas attack as bogus. the president is praising the strikes as perfectly carried out while also tweeting more insults against former fbi director james comey calling him slippery and a slimeball. officers' actions. nbc morgan radford has the story. >> reporter: this morning, growing outrage over cell phone video captured at a starbucks in philadelphia. >> they didn't do anything. i saw the entire thing. >> reporter: it shows the moment multiple police office confronted two blek men seack m about a table waiting for a friend. >> got their friend on speaker phone. hey, tell these guys you're around the corner meeting us. >> the friend seen on the right arooved and began to question police. >> what are you -- >> a meeting? >> what did they do? >> reporter: the police commissioner says the issue was trespassing. the men entered to use the rest room and denied because they hadn't bought anything. when they refused to leave, that's when a starbucks employee called 911. >> in short, these officers did absolutely nothing wrong. they followed policy. they did what they were supposed to do. >> reporter: patrons watched in

because you can really see the storm system pap cool front is sweeping in that will trek further south. right now, though, areas seeing rain include novato, san rafael, fairfield as well and still have showers and moisture behind that. even if it stays dry for just a bit, expect to see showers. at least over the next couple hours through tomorrow morning. san francisco getting some of that rain. south san francisco. light showers as well. oakland getting more of those pockets of light to moderate down pours and look at the south bay. not seeing rain just yet. right now about 4:50. you can see the rain approaching. staying the next 20, 30 minutes, don't be surprised if you see clouds roll in and see the rain. through the timeline. by six, fast-forward this a little ahead, you can see we have pockets of rain moving through hayward. palo alto, san jose and then right at about 6:30, 7:00, that system now will be more focused in the south bay. it's coming down there.

if you live in the south bay and wondering where is the rain? don't worry. it's coming. monday, 5:00 a.m., right in the morning hours during your commute early on, expect to see some showers, wet roadway s out there. keep it in mind as you head out. slick roads, things get backed up quickly. also, isolated chance of thunderstorms heading in towards tomorrow into the afternoon especially, before the 10:00 a.m. hour, and then we could see showers move out fairly quickly into the afternoon. now, because this is a colder system dropping down from alaska, there is a winter weather advisory and that is in place through monday morning. expecting dangerous travel conditions up to a foot of snowfall for elevations above 7,000 feet and the heaviest snow is expected between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. tonight. so temperature difference, also going to be very noticeable heading into tomorrow. even rain now. look at that. raining, 10, 15 plus degrees cooler than yesterday and tomorrow, daytime highs only in the 50s.

last fall was a departure from anyone she's ever done running her solar company but one she had to take. >> a pretty even distribution. >> reporter: as ceo of a solar energy company, lynn spends much of her day talking and thinking about power. but not just the electric kind. there is also power as in the ability to be in control of one's life. both types of power, lynn says, are what her company provides their customer. >> what's so powerful about solar for people is that it's freedom. >> reporter: they also happen to be the two things she said the people are puerto rico were desperately lacking in the wake of hurricane maria last september. destruction, practically everywhere. electricity, practically nowhere. >> you can see this is the conditions. >> reporter: while they didn't

have customers in puerto rico, lynn felt it had a responsibility. >> it was just a no-brainer. when we saw the fact that the electricity system was down, it was going to be down for the foreseeable future, we knew we had the solution. it was inexcusable for us not to go there. >> reporter: so in a matter of weeks, 15,000 pounds of donated sun run solar batteries loaded on to a private plane and flown in. lynn questions now months later they might not have dotted all the is and crossed up a the ts they were supposed to, but time was of the essence. >> when we went there, it was 60 days after and half the fire stations didn't have electricity. we thought we need to get in there now. >> reporter: lynn didn't just lead the charge. she grabbed the tools, climbed the ladder and helped install batteries on a handful of stations herself. >> why we were so happy to come and restore. the hope more than anything else.

when you see the tough firefighters almost tearful they're so grateful to get the systems up and running to get electricity back, to have their fire stations service community centers. it was very powerful. >> reporter: and the beauty, of course, is that now they have that power going forward. not relying on the grid. just recently in puerto rico a single tree fell, took out power lines and once again 900,000 people lost power. garvin thomas, nbc bay area news. still ahead, a convenient way to get around town but is it causing a problem? >> the transportation alternative that has people budsing in san francisco. why it's led to so much concern. and five years ago, an iconic sporting event turning into tragedy. the boston marathon bombing victims, all coming up at 5:00.
