home she was beaten and choked and sexually assaulted. >> the search is under way for the suspect and what everyone needs to no before ordering a ride share. >> reporter: ride shares are a common way to get around. >> three or four times a week at least. >> reporter: users say it's not uncommon to get in the wrong car. >> and then it's really awkward and you have to sit there and figure out the names. >> reporter: it can be a dangerous mistake. sonoma county sheriff's department says a 24-year-old san francisco woman ordered a ride share at closing time outside bruno's bar on saturday. she was taken to sonoma where the men beat and sexually assaulted her. she managed to get away in a shopping center parking lot. >> she didn't have shoes on and appeared to be beaten up, advisable signs of injury on her face and neck. >> reporter: vergts are trying to figure out if the driver is a ride share worker or phony.

carla got into a phony ride share last year. that impostor sexually assaulted her. >> i literally woke up to him in the back seat with me parked somewhere and banging my head against the seat. >> reporter: sheriff's deputies are urging ride share users to carefully confirm the car you are entering is the car the app sent. vergts are reviewing security video hoping to have the men involved in the sexual assault. >> quite frightening there. 4:33. continue being coverage on this tuesday morning. former youtube workers are shedding light on what they say is a history of violent threats made by angry and disgruntled video creators after three workers were shot by a video creator with a grudge. that shooter eventually killed herself as police closed in. former workers heard of employees being threatened from time to time, often it was video

creators who were frustrated with policy changes or other issues and the threats were usually e-mailed and never became physical. people living in san mateo county can get advice on how to deal with a violent intruder. the sheriff's department wants to make sure that people are prepared. it starts at 6:00 p.m. at the adult community center in san carlos. overnight we look through the crime reports on the sheriff's department website and there's no specific category for violent intruder but here's what we did find. in the last year, 200 burglaries were reported. there are more than 500 assault reports. >> as we've been reporting, santa clara county leaders are considering charging developers a fee for new construction. in uncorporated areas including stanford, the final meeting is happening at 6:00 in the south county government center. just how bad is the housing crisis in the bay area? someone has paid over a million dollars for this condemned home in fremont's mission neighborhood. the house is not in great shape.

good morning, i'm kate rogers live at cnbc global headquarters. markets are set to open in the green following yesterday's gain. stocks closed higher on monday as fears of an escalating conflict in syria eased. stocks were boosted by strong earnings results in companies like netflix and bank of america. the dow surged 212 points to close 24,573 and nasdaq saw a

50-point bump closing at 7,156. more trouble ahead for facebook, a u.s. federal judge ruling social media giant must face a class action lawsuit over the facial recognition tool. it claims it unlawfully used without user permission. and it comes days after ceo mark zuckerberg faced questions from u.s. lawmakers over the collection of user data. they do plan to fight the lawsuit claiming it has no merit. tesla is temporarily hitting the brakes on the model 3 electric car. this comes amid a long waiting list and several missed production targets but the company says the pause in production will address bottlenecks causing these delays. 400,000 preordered the model 3 making it crucial as a future as a mass auto maker. >> people in this area wondering, where's my car?

look outside in san francisco. if you can believe it, okay, we are getting four times the normal amount of rain that's average for the month of april. and san francisco and oakland and of course we know that the month is not over yet and we still do have a couple of slight rain chances in the forecast. santa rosa has 330% of normal. this time of year when we warm up, usually in april, we're drying out too but that is not the case this year. and it's hopefully helping to make up for all of the rain we were lacking during the month of january. our high temperatures today heading up just a few more degrees, 56 today in half moon bay and some of the inland areas like concord, 67 degrees and san jose mid-60s and some low 60s for much of the north bay. morgan hill today, 67 degrees. starting out this morning, we talked about that. make sure you grab a jacket. maybe you're going out to the

a's game later today and it's going to be cool for the morning and also the evening hours. but in between you'll need the sunglasses and maybe short sleeves. then i'm watching the next storm system in the pacific. right now it's a fairly fast moving one and going to be a cold front as it approaches the bay area. we'll start to see clouds heading into late tonight and early tomorrow morning. mostly cloudy start but we'll get some clearing especially for areas south of the golden gate bridge for tomorrow afternoon. and then the rain moving in for tomorrow evening. mostly at about 7:00 to 8:00, we'll start to see the rain but it will be in and out by thursday morning when we wake up. it's going to be off towards the south and east bringing us a quick tenth to a quarter inch of rain for much of the bay area. continuing to add on to those april rainfall totals. it's going to dry out and warm up a few more degrees, low 80s this weekend. and mike, you're seeing lots of brake lights through oakland. >> the problem is because they got the full closure there,

northbound 880, this side, over at 23rd, farther north from the coliseum, you're starting to clear that construction, should be cleared in the next 12 minutes, probably in the next five. but look at this jam approaching high street now. you hop off the freeway at high street and you can take international boulevard and take san leandro and use those in combination to get up there. once you get back on the freeway you're fine. if you stay on the freeway through the backup, get off and back on, the traffic should be cleared hopefully in next five minutes. we'll track that and all clear by 5:00 i would imagine. the rest of the bay is showing a nice dry on schedule as well. mild slowing out of the altamont for west 205 towards 580. no problems in gilroy through morgan hill, san jose through 101 to and from a santa cruz looks great as far as the speeds across the summit and conditions are great as well. here's 580 out of the dublin interchange. and out of the altamont with

expected at the cow palace in daly city because the board of directors is holding a meeting. acty vists are calling on directors to stop hosting gun shows. there are two gun shows planned at the cow palace this june. former san francisco mayor willie brown is reportedly doing some serious backtracking. this after he suggested in the kron kel that they might want rename the fountain downtown that commemorates the great quake of 1906. he now says that he was misunderstood. brown says that the chronicle, what he really meant to say he suggested rededicating it and honoring lee with a wreath at the fountain. 4:50. happening today, in santa rosa, sonoma county leaders look to extend the emergency declaration adopted after the deadly wildfires back in october. if approved, order helps stop

price gouging on items such as food and medical supplies and building materials and ease gasoline. for some east bay cyclists, a popular path to mt. diablo may end up in court. residents have had it with cyclist cutting through an otherwise private street on the western side of town. residents are now asking a judge to declare it a private road. a warning for one sunnyvale neighborhood. don't panic if you hear loud explosions, it's part of a training exercise by police. the exercise is happening around maude and north sunnyvale avenue. that's from 10:00 until 4:00. 4:51. coming up next, nbc bay area responds. >> it's a dispute over $12 but it's his $12 and a local search engine is holding onto it.

trans america pyramid this morning. no clouds in sight. we'll check the full forecast coming up. it is 4:54. >> nbc bay area responds to a del monte mean who found a popular search engine owed him money. >> but he was having trouble getting paid so he reached out to our response team for help. here's chris. >> gary was digging through the state's unclaimed money website when he found a surprise, small one, google owed him $12.06 for unredeemed gift certificates, he contacted google to collect the $12.06. they agreed to pay him but he had to set up a google wallet first. gary said he created that wallet but never got his money. he asked us for help. we contacted google and it straightened out the situation right away. it sent him a check for $12.06. gary was smart to search the state's unclaimed property data
