hero and was with reacting to the situation. >> i'm not a here he row. i'm just a regular person. you have to either react or you have to -- or you're going to, you know, fold. and i chose to react because i didn't see any other way of me, you know, with living. and that's all i wanted to do. i just wanted to live. >> police are warning the gun withman is still on the run and may be armed and dangerous. >> police say a gunman, armed with an assault rifle and wearing nothing but a green jacket opened fire at a nashville area waffle house, killing four people, injuring four on others. police believe this had is the gunman, 29-year-old reinking. there were two persons standing outside the restaurant. they were the first ones who were hit, both fatally.

>> reinking then entered the building. >> i hit him with the swivel door and then the gun was jammed up and it was pushed down. so we were scuffling. and i managed to get him with one hand on the gun and then i grabbed it from him and i threw it over the countertop. >> authorities say the customer, james shaw jr., saved lives. reinking fled. investigators searched his apartment and discovered one begun. he was known to the fbi since july 2017. >> the police department has received information that the guns were returned by taskell authorities to reink canning's father who has now acknowledged giving them back to his son. >> one of those guns, an ar-15, was used in the shooting.

police are now looking for reinking and the two missing weapons. this morning, president trump's choice to lead the state department will get one step closer to nomination. mike pompeo is expected to move to the full senate, but not before his historic rebuke from the foreign relations committee with members likely to reject him. the top democrat on the committee defended his historic no vote. >> he wouldn't answer me about what mueller talked to him about and it was about russia related, so this is something important to the committee. didn't tell us about his visit to north korea and he has a history of comments about regime change against the lgbtq community, on muslims, that didn't make it possible for me to envision him as the secretary of state of the united states. >> but that's not the only battle the trump administration is waging as the white house

looks to clean up the president's own words on north korea ahead of a make or break summit. kelly o'donnell has the latest from the white house. >> good morning, phillip. president trump is back in washington after a week in florida and he's been talking about the high stakes for any potential agreement or meeting or summit with north korea. he's also expressed on twitter frustration with people he refers to as pundits giving him advice he doesn't seem to want about how to make a deal. and the president is trying to send some positive signals. >> leaving palm beach, president trump posed with officers from the sheriff's department. and over the din of air force one's engines responded to shouted questions about north korea. this week, north korea's kim jong un and president moon jae-in of south korea are scheduled to meet. after kim, seen here inside his private train, announced friday the north's nuclear program is

complete and, therefore, would stop its missile testing. a move seen with both caution and optimism for potential negotiations. >> there's every reason to think that he will not agree to give up all of his nuclear weapons. so the question for the united states bumps are we with willing to live with some kind of compromised solution. >> president trump oversold on twitter declaring inaccurate hadly they have agreed to denuclearzation. but north korea has not gone that far. senator bob corker said for kim, the arsenal secures his grip on power. >> he views having deliverable nuclear weapons as his ticket to dieing an an old man in his bed. >> later, the president dialed back expectations. we are a long way from conclusion on north korea. maybe things will work out and maybe they won't. while the white house repeated its goal for trump/kim negotiations. >> but i think from our perspective, it means no longer

going to grow up to be amazing adults because she's going to guide every decision that we make as a family for the rest of their lives. so she's still going to be here forever. in the wake of the accident, southwest is voluntarily inspecting its fleet of 737s and that's having an impact on passengers with about 40 flights cans canneled yesterday. the faa has ordered inspects of all sympathier limilar engines. . at least 57 are dead after a suicide bombing at a voter registration center in kabul. it was packed with people who were there registering for national identification cards ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in october. 22 women and 8 children are among the dead. the death toll could rise. isis has claimed responsibility for the attack. it is the fourth attack on registration centers since a week ago.

but iran's foreign minister is warning they have a range of options including resuming's nuclear program. now, iran's chief ahead of nuclear program last week also said that iran could start enriching uranium at high levels within four days. you now -- it's highly likely that the deal would survive with the europeans alone. french president emmanuel macron is on an official trip to the u.s. he's urged donald trump, with whom he seems to have a good relationship with, to stick with the iran nuclear deal to say that there is no better option and he doesn't have a plan b if the united states restores

in case you missed it, verne troyer died this weekend. he was best known for playing mini me in the austin powers movies. in a statement, troyerer's family suggested depression may have been an issue for him. he was 49 years old. this was the scene in royal albert hall. the queen took 92 on saturday and took the stage with her son and heir, prince charles. among those attending, prince harry and meghan markle whose wedding is one month away. some are pressing the french president to bring up the requirement that people in france pay u.s. taxes if they were born here, even if they've only lived in the united states for a matter of days. this law doesn't only apply to french people. tammy l had eitner has more.
