with you. so let )s get ready. ad lib live picture-- san francisco it is monday morning, taking a live look outside, san francisco this weekend -- this morning -- i guess i'm still thinking about the weekend. >> i was hoping you had a great weekend. let's get through the workweek. good morning, i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. mike is here with the traffic and commute let's start with kari hall. >> it looks like another good week ahead. we have mild weather as you get ready to head out to mostly clear skies and light breeze as you step out. temperatures in the low 50s in san francisco as well as oakland and palo alto, 50 degrees there and 49 in san jose. here's a live look outside in san jose, a few clouds drifting by.

as we go to evergreen, a mix of sun and clouds and then seeing highs today reaching in the mid-mid mid-60s, we'll talk about the rest of the week in a few minutes. mike says we've already got a problem on highway 101. >> right over here. >> wow. >> a short time ago, northbound 101, completely closed, north of highway 37 because of overturned rig. this is a heavy duty problem. we'll look at the map. just north of the highway 37 cut-off. i'm told by chp everyone caught in the backup between the off ramp and crash itself have been cleared off the highway but that means they have to go this way to highway 37. you see slowing picking up and folks getting to the off ramp and likely taking that as they hear about that from other sources or page as well. highway 116 gets you north of that scene. that is counter commute, the

bulk going southbound towards san francisco and moving smoothly. i'll have an update for the south county as well coming up. new this morning, an apparent joyride involving several underage teenagers leads to a crash in the south bay. what's interesting is how police were told. morgan hill police say four underage teenagerers stole an administrative van yesterday evening. the driver dropping off a girl at home and parents saw the van and called police. officers gave chase until it crashed in a hydrant and utility pole. no one was seriously hurt and the driver however facing multiple felony charges. kris sanchez tracking more details will have a live report at 5:30. >> a disturbing scene in the middle of oakland this weekend. police several -- this video posted on snap shot. lots of drivers doing doughnuts

close to people. this is one of the largest side shows off 100th avenue at macarthur. it started with about 100 cars. >> and oakland police using social media tweeting out this picture showing cars they say they confiscated over the weekend. >> new this morning, journalists killed overnight in afghanistan, isis is claiming responsible for twin bombings for first time we're actually seeing video of the aftermath. the death toll has changed a couple of times overnight. right now the government tells nbc producers on the ground 22 people are dead and that includes seven journalists, more than 40 others are hurt. >> now to a developing story here at home. a terrifying ordeal over the weekend. a sailboat runs aground with a 7 month pregnant woman on board. they are doing fine this weekend. >> sergio has the story. >> reporter: when this 33 foot

sail boat ran aground the waves were tossing it as it laid on its side and those aboard struggled to jump off. wearing a brace because she got injured. >> the steering wheel came back and smacked me really hard. >> reporter: she and the other three people aboard suffered minor injuries, one of her passengers is seven months pregnant and doing fine. they are grateful to those who immediately offered to help. >> the people here in pacifica have been phenomenal. i was cold so a lady gave me her coat off her back. >> reporter: one of the locals who took action and helped passengers. >> one guy jumped off the boat, she was fine and a lady landed on her face. i ran into the surf line and then pulled her out. >> gar ver and her co-owner were hoping to make it to san diego to enjoy warmer weather but this incident will delay those plans. they are working with their

insurance company to move the 33-foot boat. >> if we can get it off there, we hope to get it repaired and like to sail around the world one day once she's all fixed and ready to go. >> reporter: "today in the bay." >> it is 4:35. today 49ers linebacker rubinfoster will be back in court. prosecutors are moving forward with the domestic violence case against foster. this comes despite his former girlfriend admitting she lied about it. this is video from a previous court appearance. an attorney says she made the story that foster punched her and dragged her by the hair in february because he had broken off the relationship. she claims the injuries were from a previous fight with a woman and she has video of the fight. foster is still facing multiple charges including possession of an assault weapon. >> 4:35 right now. a gunman shoots inside a bowling alley, shooting a man this weekend. police say they are sfrping for that suspect right now. witnesses actually captured that chaos as you see here on camera.

the shooting happened saturday night at classic bowling center, in daly city, there was some sort of fight before that shooting. police worked through the night trying to track down the shooter but had no luck. >> had incidents at the bowling alley before, having a shooting there is a rare occurrence and something that we're using our resources to solve. >> police say they are checking surveillance cameras in hopes of identifying the suspect. >> if you want your family prepared for an emergency, we have some help for you. san mateo holding a fair focused on keeping you safe. first responders will demonstrate first aid and runs from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at sky line college, separately or similarly tonight at 7:00, law enforcement leaders and others will talk about active shooter training at the high school in san bruno. >> if you're looking for a way to cut down on your cell phone bill, you may find a deal real soon. we have the head's up on two of the top wireless companies attempting to merge.

open higher on this merger monday. coming off a down week despite positive earnings from big names like amazon, microsoft and chipotle. they'll get economic data today on personal income and spending and pending home sales. last friday the dow closed down 11 points to 24311 and nasdaq to 7,119. they've been talking about it for years, sprint and t-mobile have clinched a deal to combine the third and fourth largest wireless carriers. the deal valued about $26 billion and they are trying to compete with the larger rivals at&t and ver size zon. the combined firm would have more than 127 million subscribers if the deal is approved and that's a big if. t-mobile ceo says it will be able to deliver more for lower prices and the deal is expected to face a pretty big antitrust scrutiny.

regulators have expressed opposition in the past reducing the number of major carriers from four to three because they worry about less competition and potentially higher prices. starbucks is cutting back on those quirky drinks like the unicorn and crystal ball frappuccino. i don't know a person who tried them. limited time offers by 30%. but don't fret, we've got new frappuccinos expected to launch this very week and starbucks will focus more on other drinks such as cold brews and teas. i've got to say, guys, when i go by the door i've seen pictures of the cold brews they almost look like a giuinnesguinness. >> space tourism is one step closer to reality. launching a rocket from west texas this morning.

stroke and died last year. but he was an organ donor and this weekend his partner, aleaffaxt gomez and couple's son met the person who received his heart. finally get to hear his heart once again. it was loud. it was strong. strong as his love for us actually. >> i can't even imagine. his liver was also donated but can you imagine a loved one and seeing someone live through that too. >> oh, my gosh. >> the person you love so dearly in that person some kind of way. >> that's lovely. >> today we have lovely weather too. >> absolutely. it does start out cool this week but we will be warming up each day. that's going to be the main weather story of the week as we get a live look outside in san jose. a few clouds as you get ready to head out the door. right now it's 49 degrees. the high today up to 67.

we're still in the 60s with some clouds, cool weather and it will be clearing out with breezy winds later today and the rest of the week. we will get up a few degrees and you can see that right now at the bottom of the screen with our 7-day forecast up already. as we go through the morning commute in the east bay, every now and then we'll see the sun coming out from behind those clouds and it will be cool to start. only 50 degrees at 6:00 and as we go into late morning, we'll make it into the low to mid-60s and then eventually into the upper 60s today in the south bay. gilroy will see a high of 68 degrees and 68 in east san jose. and some low 70s from concord to antioch and hayward 65. 64 in redwood city and also 58 in ingleside and sonoma. the clouds rolling by as we go throughout the day as you get dressed you, still need the long

sleeves for the afternoon and early spring like weather so we'll have the need for pants as well as we go through the week once again, no rain in the forecast, our high temperatures for the inland areas reaching 65 but towards the end of the week we'll have upper 70s and hitting 80 this saturday. this may be the weekend to make those beach plans. it's going to be a beautiful week ahead and then we'll top it off with warmer weather. >> the first closure was in the north bay through novato, this one south county. the map shows a nice easy drive from san francisco towards silicon valley. other side of the bay, east bay moves well. the closure does only affect folks from hollister. there's an overturned lettuce truck carrying 40,000 tons of et

lettuce that has to be cleared up. 152 remains open, uninterrupted from 101 to i-5. if you're expecting someone from l.a., that should be fine thus far. 17 over the hill, easy drive as far as the flow of traffic. the flow over the 92 bridge moves nicey.there's your higi foster city and then looking farther north again the north bay, you've got a smooth drive except for north 101 north of atherton and past the dump where the overturned rig we're tracking up in the area north from novato. same counter commute, back to you. >> from the golden gate bridge, taking a live look now from the emeryville camera. this is at the bay bridge, it looks clear right now but today is the start of that spare the air smog season and these are things you might want to consider. you might want to think about riding your bike to work if you can. the bay area air quality management district telling us that we also limit driving and smog season starts when the

weather gets warmer and when it gets really bad, that air quality will issue a spare the air alert. >> 4:49. if you want to try the rental bikes, b.a.r.t. will let you ride for free. transit agency is partnering with ford. riders can sign up for free one month membership. all you have to do head to oakland 12th street b.a.r.t. station. >> 4:50, lafayette leerds are trying to get the word out about a meeting pairing council and school board members. discussion items include traffic safety and campus security and affordable housing in lafayette. teachers and district staff as well. a long time cafe back in the spotlight after being at the center of a racism controversy. elmwood closed abruptly last week and people in the community are leaving notes responding to the closure. some of the notes are in support of the cafe. others are supporting the black lives matter movement.

in 2015 black comedian w. bell said cafe employees asked him to leave when he was trying to speak to his wife, who is white. the incident was highlighted earlier this month after the recent controversy surround being the arrest of two black men at the starbucks in philadelphia. the cafe did not specifically say exactly why it was closing. reports of a downed aircraft this weekend led to an unusual discovery. alameda county firefighters say it was a home made submarine in the emeryville marina. here are some photos of the sub, it was towed to shore but it is unclear who owns it or what it was used for. >> not something what they usually see in the pacific south west. someone called wildlife troopers about a deer walking around with an arrow through its head. the deer was hit in the base of its neck. the deer was spotted friday about an hour north of the
