tank.. go team teal! it is monday morning as we start off this workweek, a live look outside at what the shark tank as you can see this is downtown san jose, what it looks like. you know, starting off the workweek, that's game three tonight against the vegas knights and we asked the sharks to take the bite out of the night. >> i wore my teal today, went to the closet. >> whatever you can do. we're getting breaks news into our newsroom, maybe you felt it in the 50eeast bay, 3.3 earthqu reported near alamo. in the east bay, we don't know much about it so far. the depth or what not, but go ahead and tweet us this morning if you hear at @ nbc bay area we would love to hear if you felt it this morning. they had a few of those over the
5:01 am
weekend. >> maybe the beginning of a quake so we'll have to keep an eye on that, 3.3. as you get ready to walk out the door this morning, here's a live look outside in san jose. mostly clear skies and as we go to sunnyvale, we'll be in the mid 50s and little more clearing for the afternoon, staying on the cool side with low to mid-60s, all of the high temperatures will stay in the 60s except for concord an antioch and upper 50s in half moon bay. mike gets us out the door with a couple much issues in a few spots. >> i should have stayed off the screen, this overturned big rig you see right there is tracking northbound 101 just as you travel north of highway 37 and you see the reason for the closure the overturned rig. crews are not on the scene to remove that, there's a lot of chp there.
5:02 am
we'll show you the map, closure north of highway 37, escorted off the freeway at atherton getting towards highway 37 and now that slowing eastbound away from the area and towards lakeville highway, that will be the alternate for the time being and until they did reopen that, that's the best alternate for folks traveling north into the rest of the north bay past the landfill. the rest of the bay shows a smooth flow, one more closure, probably won't affect viewers. we'll send it back to you. >> looking live at the iconic golden gate bridge. if this is your commute, i want to tell you don't be alarmed if you see people dangling from the towers today. this is the first of its kind inspection for the bridge. crews wilt repel down the side of the towers down to the sidewalk there and pete suratos is live at the golden gate bridge with the reason behind the inspections and pete, good thing it is for inspections and
5:03 am
not something else. >> reporter: that's right. good morning marcus and laura. look like super heroes out there but there is a purpose for that inspection. they'll be expecting the bridge for any erosion if any areas need repair. if this sounds familiar, it happened a few short years ago. we have the video for you back in 2015. you had workers in that case checking the underside of the bridge. this morning you'll have workers repelling from the top of the golden gate bridge towers to the sidewalks and doing more of what we saw a few years ago when they were assessing the condition of the bridge, the steel of that bridge, seeing if any areas need repairs. now they are also going to be doing this week, they'll install scaffolding on the sidewalks around towers, all of this is happening to protect people passing below. if you're a bicyclist, you're being asked to dismount and walk bicycles around the towers. most importantly, those workers will not be repelling over traffic. no need to worry about that. now as far as inspections go, it
5:04 am
should take about a week but they are expecting to remove the scaffolding in the work area by may 11th. we're live any golden gate bridge, pete suratos, "today in the bay." now to a developing story in the east bay, a weekend stroll on a popular trail ends in violence. this morning albany police are investigating the city's first homicide in three years. police say it happened about 11:30 yesterday morning along the green way trail. officers found a man lying in a bench with a gunshot wound. paramedics rushed him to the hospital but he later died. police do not have a motive. the trail is expected to reopen this morning. if you head down to pacifica beach this morning, there's a good chance you'll see a sign from the weekend boat trim that became a big bomber for those on board. all four made it off safely when their sailboat became stranded late saturday night. people came over to help and

5:06 am
the united states government should allow this to happen. u.s. immigration lawyers are offering free legal help for the migra migrants. >> can we trust north korea? that's a question many are asking. kim jong-un is promising to z destroy his country's nuclear test site and let journalists in to see it. traci potts is live in washington. how is the trump administration responding to this. >> reporter: north korea's kim jong-un is promising to do this again, destroy its nuclear site and let american experts in to watch. the trump administration is claiming victory but cautious. >> they've lied about it and broken their commitments, which is one reason there's nobody in the trump administration starry eyed about what may happen here. >> beer not goiwe're not going promises and words and look for actions and deeds. >> reporter: kim said it will happen in the next few weeks before the upcoming meeting with
5:07 am
president trump. lawmakers are urging the u.s. to keep up the pressure, sanctions crippling north korea's economy. >> everybody knows they can barely feed their country and you know, they don't have money, don't have currency the rest of the world accepts and so it's a critical time for him. >> krcritical too for the u.s. >> before the president takes too much credit or hangs out the mission accomplished banner, he needs to realize that we may go into a confrontational face and may not want the full blame if things go south. >> south korea's president spends an hour briefing president trump on north's latest promises. tracie potts, nbc news washington. it is 5:07. happening today, san francisco leaders will consider new protections for a popular sailing cove being eyed by developers, clipper cove sits between treasure island. it's also where the city's only community sailing center operates. opponents say developers want to build a luxury marina in the
