6:09 am
>> i do, we'll start with the one on the upper east shore freeway. there are two motorcycles involved in this crash blocking the two left lanes. one of those riders was at one point laying in the roadway, hopefully that person was able to dwget up and move to the shoulder. we're checking for details on that. we didn't quite recover from the morning paving work was late to pick up, still slow across vallejo and jammed up through rodeo and hercules, over here some folks might head across the venetia bridge, more slowing through concord and it's the northbound side where the second crash is. it's a distraction for the commute heading south because it's very close to the center divide. the crash is northbound in counter commute, southbound we have the build out of bay point and concord down 242. we show a pretty smooth drive. anywhere south of the bay bridge, an easy drive for the peninsula. the south bay doesn't have a build and over at 238, the crash is clearing to the shoulder with

6:16 am
important to the republicans to paint these tax cuts as something that benefited middle class americans. mike pence was in arizona tuesday wupushing that message voters at the rally. many americans are dissatisfied with president trump but the republicans want to say, listen, we did this, got you this tax cut. we're not seeing the evidence aside from thousand dollar bonuses last year, i'll give you that, we're not seeing the evidence that americans are benefitting from it. >> interesting to keep track of. it is 6:16. one leading san francisco mayoral candidate wants to take the free community college plan a step further. how about two years of free university tuition? former state senator mark leno plans to push it out on the steps of san francisco university and the plan would only apply to city colleges of sf graduates who then go on to earn their bachelor's degree. 6:16 right now.

state college, pennsylvania but there was a delay. so the airline added an extra leg on a different airline. that happens from time to time. but here's the problem. when christopher got to that connecting flight, the new airline said no one had paid for his ticket and $835 was due on the spot she tried to plead her case but ended up paying the 835 bucks to get her son home. now airlines usually make changes like that free but daria said the two airlines were pointing finger s at each other. we referred daria to the d.o.t., u.s. department of transportation. it has an office of consumer protection that has more power frankly than we do. for example, airlines are required to respond to the d.o.t. within 30 days of getting a complaint from a consumer. the d.o.t. received more than 18,000 complaints about airlines last year.
6:26 am
we're not sure how many were successful but we know at least one consumer prevamed in 2018 and that is daria. the original airline refunded the extra $835 she had to pay. we put a link to the d.o.t.'s complaint form on our consumer web page, nbcbayarea.com/responds. look for consumer resources. while you're there, you can send us a tip like daria did or call us, 888-996-tips. >> 6:26 right now, kanye west keeps making headlines this morning. last week we talked about how he supports donald trump. well now his comments to tmz has everyone talking. >> you hear about slavery for 400 years. for 400 years? that sounds like a choice. like you there for 400 years and it's all y'all? it's like we're mentally in prison. i like the word prison because

6:34 am
that the curriculum require comprehensive sexual health education, hiv prevention education and among other things, be age appropriate. parents can let their child opt out but critics argue that would subject their child to ridicule. >> i am against the existing sexual curriculum. i feel that they need to have a total comprehensive health education and even if it is sex education, i think the current curriculum it's not appropriate for the age level. some of the material is a little too explicit. >> i'm okay for it. you know, it's -- the kids need to know what it is. i'm sure the district knows what they are doing. >> reporter: you think it's too young of an age for an fourth or fifth grader? >> i think they need to know. they are going to find out anyways. >> reporter: the district is expecting a lot of people at today's 4:30 board meeting. they will open the doors here at district headquarters at 3:45.
