you. >> bob redell talked to people before that meeting. bob, how long did this meeting go? >> reporter: ten hours, marcus and laura, unified board meeting began at headquarters 4:30 yesterday afternoon, didn't end until 2:30 with that vote. a clerk who has been on the board a number of years said she had never seen a meeting here run this long. there were a lot of parents who had a lot to say. in the past couple of hours the board did vote not to offer sex education for fourth, fifth, and sixth-graders because they don't believe what they had proposed was compliant with state law. there's also a lot of people -- a number of people who are against it. the district will offer for students seven through nine. he said he believes the majority of parents want sex ed but the issue over what should be

taught. three rs, right, respect, responsibility, which contained topics too explicit and not age appropriate for students four through six. we heard from one discussion of sexual orientation and sexual identity could erode values. one mom does not agree and is disappointed the board voted no. >> there was a lot of pressure from a vocal but misguided group of parents that thought keeping their kids uninformed will somehow protect their child's innocence. >> we look for compromise. tonight we did not get the best i was hoping for. at the same time they did decide to form a committee. >> reporter: the board did decide, as you heard, to create

good morning, i'm contessa brewer live from cnbc's headquarters. here are top business headlines. wall street treading water after stocks fell yesterday. dow futures down by 37 points. yesterday stocks fell, a fourth straight session by the fed kept interest rates unchanged. higher inflation for the u.s. economy. that can be a real motivator for the feds to stick to the course of raising rates gradually. what we're watching economic data on unemployment and productivity. elon musk shedding light on tesla's ambitions to launch self-driving ride sharing network. on the company's earnings call last night musk described a world where people share this cars offering them as uber or lyft or hybrid version you can specify nip can use it when

weather around the bay area. here are your out-the-door temperatures. as you step out we'll be in the upper 40s livermore, oakland, san francisco, right now 54 our high for the afternoon heading up to 75 degrees in san jose. 71 in palo alto. san francisco today low 60s and santa rosa 71, 37 napa and livermore. that's another view of the shark tank this morning. mike is really excited. i'm wearing my heels this morning. it's a day you need long sleeves to tart. later today it will be nice and comfortable. sunglasses, short sleeves, beautiful weather on the way again for this afternoon. let's just get through this morning commute. we'll still need long sleeves, nice and warm. 50s through the east bay. at 11:00 in the east bay 63, up to 66 at noon.

those temperatures continue to go up, more dry weather. watching the line of clouds that will start to make its way closer to the bay area as we head towards saturday. until then we will have a lot more sunshine in the forecast. those clouds will bring down the temperatures just a couple of degrees but still no rain in this forecast. we go up to 80 degrees by tomorrow. 76 on saturday. still some nice weather though. then heading into the middle of next week, upper 70s. san francisco low 60s, continue in the forecast, cooler on sunday, 59 degrees and some low 60s for early next week. now, mike, you're tracking a hazard reported in oakland. >> we have a live camera by the coliseum. report add metal pole in the roadway, mention of overpass, 66 shy of high street where we have that report. it may be somewhere along the stretch. i did track it with the camera, i don't see disturbance with this flow of traffic, flashing lights or problems with the flow
