let's get a look out at the satellite and radar showing there will be an increase in cloud cover as i watch this system, a weak one, won't bring us rain but we'll see clouds moving in especially for tomorrow. we'll see a mix of sun and clouds after reaching 80 today. we'll bring it down a few degrees for tomorrow and then warm it back up for early next week. san francisco not much of a change temperaturewise but you won't get as much sunshine for tomorrow. i'll talk more about this and what's ahead. mike has been tracking the changes at the bay bridge. >> we saw earlier backup there in the cash lanes as we hit 5:00, we see the cash lanes have cleared up. it looks like they've opened the last of those and no problem right now. this is the lighter flow we expect to see earlier on a friday morning. we'll see this ease into the build but by 5:30 you'll have all backed up to the parking lot. contra costa in towards the bay

bridge, looks like you're at the limit and that means your lighter flow of traffic right now. continuing to south county, no problems. a little slowing out of theal at a monday. chp gave an overnight advisory but haven't heard of problems for drivers. typical drive for a friday up here. back to you, laura. >> they weren't trying to get away for the weekend to the big island of hawaii. evacuations are taking place as one of the state's most famous volcanos erupts and lava just pouring down. we've got drone video, the lava is oozing out of the ground with such force it's taking out anything in its path. kris sanchez live at sjc with a look at the travel impact and conditions on the ground overnight in hawaii as well. good morning, kris. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. here at international airport, alaska airlines is one of the airlines that flies direct to the big island. no changes to their travel plans

at this point. but if you have travel this weekend booked on hawaiian airlines, you'll want to see this tweet. the airline says effective immediately travelers with tickets to or from hilo or kona can change travel plans for free. most airlines have not made any changes at this point. the air national guard already traveled and arrived in communities around kill way i can't -- kilauekilauea. in some spots spewing in the air up to 100 feet. it looks very dramatic from where we're watching it here at home but among the evacuees is a farmer who got 30 people off his farm on the volcano itself. he put this disaster in perspective for us mainlanders. >> lava moves at 2 miles per hour, not really a threatening situation but it is something that we live on top of.

had a hard time going to sleep last night because of the deadly shooting standoff and evacuation all happening there. two people are dead this morning and another is critically hurt, pete suratos is live. investigators have been there all night? >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you, marcus. we showed up here no longer investigators on the scene. it is all clear in mill valley. of course our concerns for residents after all of this took place yesterday. i want to show you guys that video, when that s.w.a.t. team was swarming this area, looking for the gunman, you can see it was a very active scene when the deadly shooting took place and in mill valley. and investigators say an 80-year-old gunman shot a man and woman in the apartment complex in this area roughly around 3:30. the woman dying from injuries and man in critical condition. they did speak about this very scary scene, including one witness who says she saw an officer running with a female

victim over his shoulder to get her medical help. >> i see a chp officer running down the street with an unconscious woman like draped over his shoulder. and she's kind of like flopping over his shoulder as he's running with her and puts her in an ambulance. >> he shot our landlord and killed our daughter. >> the deputies had to evacuate the neighbors as they were running for safety. you can see in the video and others in mill valley received an active shoortter alert telli them to stay inside. the shelter in place was lifted when the suspected gunman was found dead inside an apartment. i want to find out the marin county sheriff's department is handling this investigation and moving forward and not releasing the name of the female victim or the shooter at this time. we're live in mill valley, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> thank you, pete. it is 5:05. happening today, president trump meets with gun supporters in dallas. that's where some 80,000 people will attend the nra's annual

convention. it is going to be president trump's fourth year appearing there. but there's one difference this time around. following the parkland school shooting in february dozens of companies cut ties with the nra. in the meantime the president is suddenly facing a credibility crisis after statements made by a news attorney general rudy giuliani, the president reimbursed a $130,000 payment to attorney michael cohen tied to the stormy daniels scandal. giuliani says the president knew those comments were coming. not so for others in the white house. >> president trump's acknowledgement of reimbursement and julian ngiuliani's acknowledgement -- >> that's one expert talking about the new potential legal risk for the president. they insist the payment to daniels had no connection to campaign funds. new details on what happened before police arrested oakland

degrees at noon. and then continuing to climb from there heading into early afternoon. we're going to see the highs in the south bay up to 81 degrees in morgan hill. one of the warmer spots across the bay area. also up to 82 in antioch. 81 in danville. and fremont today 78 degrees. we'll keep upper 50s in half moon bay. not much of a warm-up there but redwood city up to 77 today. mission district at 66 and today in the north bay up to 80 in p napa with breezy winds. more clouds will be moving in especially for tomorrow. we'll start to see partly cloudy clis today but this cluster of crowds with a weak disturbance will not bring us any rain but it will keep it partly to mostly cloudy toik. tomorrow. if you're going to the cinco de mayo tomorrow, mid-60s. let us know what you're doing this weekend.

to disrupt events at the sap center and two the company does not believe the valley transportation authority which is managing the b.a.r.t. project has adequately planned for how they are going to make up for the lost parking pots when the station is build here which could be a problem for thousands of people who come here to the sap center. so yesterday the company did file a lawsuit against the vt and and demanding the transit agency immediately stop work on this project until it has addressed the parking and construction issues. you can see on your tv screen the sharks say they strongly support the b.a.r.t. project through downtown san jose and they've been fushing vta to work on those issues without success and i'm quoting, we did not take this decision lightly. i have e-mailed the vta and waiting for their response. b.a.r.t. approved the plan in

santa clara using a single bore tunnel instead of double bore. now it's up to the vta to get the $1.5 billion in funds to help cover the cost of this project that right now is running around $4.7 billion. the east bay times points out the timing of this lawsuit is not helpful for the vta because uncle sam does take into account local opposition when considering it to hand out money for projects like this. reporting live here in san jose, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thanks a lot, bob. a san jose neighborhood is really on the lookout for a possible prowler. take a look here. this is a scary scene as people saw happening in willow glen. some folks say this man seen in the surveillance video, the shadow you can see, was trying to peek through a window. the owner of the home says that was his daughter's room. and that man at that window this happened at 4:00 in the morning on tuesday. neighbors say they called police. at 5:33, new this morning,

the new york times has it all wrong. that's what two former cheerleaders are saying. speaking on behalf of washington's football team in an exclusive interview about what has become very explosive 2013 photo shoot. according to this week's story in the "new york times," former cheerleaders say they felt they were being exploited on a trip to coast at a resta rica. they say they had to pose topless and some served as egs escorts. others say they never felt demeaned. topless being forced, not true. in terms of being an escort, that is never a perception that i had. >> i hate this negative light has been portrayed on our organization for something i was so passionate about and so many women felt this was the best years of their lives. >> the team is still looking into the allegations.

they did say firsthand accounts seem to contradict the "new york times" report. full interview airs at 7:30 on "today" right after "today in the bay." >> with the next few years it's likely berkeley's historic people's park will be less about the people and more for certain others. as in people who live in brands new housing there. uc leaders yesterday announced a radical overhaul of people's park. that's the park famous around the world during the free speech movement in the 1960s. time has really changed hire. the park known for petty crimes than protests and the school says it desperately needs housing. it calls for a five-story housing community and apartments to house the homeless. we've been asking you to send us questions you'd like candidates for governor to ask during the live debate next week and we're getting a lot of good ones. >> we always want a little more

it's going to be a great one. the weather is going to be great too. let's look at saturday's forecast, it's cinco de mayo and kentucky derby. the cost will be at 63 degrees and more clouds in the mix. we'll have partly cloudy skies, up to 70 degrees for the bay and inland areas up to 77 degrees. on sunday, we are going to continue on with this amazing weather for the weekend. and mid-70s so it does start to cool down a couple of degrees for the interior valleys and cool area -- cool coastal areas for the weekend. if you're heading out to golden gate field to celebrate the kentucky derby, we're going to see more clouds moving in right there in berkeley. it's only going to reach into the mid-60s. maybe a nice hat and then also maybe a shaw or something with your derby dress. and then silicon valley bikes this weekend. we'll have great weather for that wrapping up the weekend on sunday in history park with low

70s and mix of sun and clouds. this is a live look in squaw valley as the sun rises. if you're lucky enough to be going to the sierra this weekend, squaw valley is going to have highs in the low 60s throughout the weekend and on sunday partly cloudy skies, 62 will be the high. at russian river valley, up to 73 today but lower 70s tomorrow. and then on sunday expect a high of 69 degrees. the trend will be for each day those temperatures to come down a couple of degrees and it's going to stay foggy in monterey. if you're going to the coast, keep in mind it's going to be foggy and cool and at times the sunday will peek out during the afternoon. if you're going to muir woods, great weekend for that, going for a hike. 67 degrees and tomorrow 64 degrees and 62 on sunday. i know you're just trying to make it through the work day. i'll have a look at today's trend in three minutes. new job news released in the

little bit sooner for the inland areas as you plan the school day forecast in concord, a morning where you need a jacket to start out and it warms up so fast you'll probably be wearing short sleeves and shorts, a day for layers, constantly changing. we're going to be up to 80 in napa. oakland at up to 70 degrees and 81 today in morgan hill. and concord, looking for a high of 83 degrees. as you're getting dregsed this morning, standing in front of the closet like what do i wear today? yes, once again layers, a jacket for the morning and then maybe a dress for the rest of the day. you'll be comfortable wearing that in the areas that will be heating up in the 80s for the afternoon. and then here comes in changes. this will not bring us any clouds, won't bring us any rain but it will bring in quite a bit of cloud cover for tomorrow. as we look at how it pans out on our hour by hour outlook. it does show it will be mostly sunny today and you wake up tomorrow morning with mostly

cloudy skies. there will be some breaks in the clouds at times getting some sunshine and that's what we'll see all day long and then even into the afternoon and this will bring our high temperatures down a few degrees. tomorrow in oakland for the cinco de mayo festival it won't be reaching into the 70s like today but we'll bring it back to the low 60s overall. still a very pleasant day. inland areas up to 80 degrees today and 76 degrees tomorrow. 71 degrees on sunday and then we'll warm it back up. a little boost in temperatures to start out early next week. san francisco not much of a change. it's going to be breezy and cool over the next seven days. mike, you're getting drivers out the door. any issues. >> no big issues. the big issue will be it's friday. we're seeing lighter volume across the bay. slow down northbound 101, north of 680, we'll watch this clear up over next few minutes. we're looking at the rest of the tri-valley. there was a crash reported
