the overnight developments for us, steve. good morning to you. craig, unfortunately the scene you see behind me part of now a common currency. the national guard trying to keep people away from about half a dozen of these volcanic fissures that have opened up spewing out lava across the countryside. and communities that make up this island. part of reason why now we're in a state of emergency here. >> this morning the big island bursting open. hawaii's volcano spasming in a series of violent eruptions. spewing lava into the air. rivers of red carving across the earth. >> oh, my gosh. sit spitting. >> for days homes and businesses have been rattled by hundreds of earthquak earthquakes. the latest a magnitude 6.9. the strongest in nearly 40 years to strike the island.

by going to cleveland today to talk about benefits of tax cuts. comes at a time he is taking front and center position in own legal defense. there's a new report that says long time lawyer and fixer who often paid off things for the president found ways to secure more available cash. new this morning, wall street journal reports trump lawyer michael cohen dramatically beefed up his access to cash during the 2016 campaign year. by increasing his home equity lines of credit to more than three quarters of a million dollars. journal reports those transactions are under scrutiny by federal investigators. cohen previously said he used home equity funds to pay adult porn ago stress stormy daniels to keep quiet about an alleged sexual encounter that the president denies. >> defiant friday, president trump tried cleanup on own legal

giuliani claim that the president learned recently that he did do that reimbursement. instead we don't know. he will not say. today the "new york times" also reports that the president knew for months and they say their sources indicate a trump administration official was also aware of the purpose of long time structured payments. >> i know you'll be following that. i also want to ask about something else. watching the president at nra convention in dallas. brought up court case involving former campaign vary paul manafort and talked about what a judge said. fill us in. >> reporter: in is an issue where the president, imagine this brought up the name paul manafort. former official of his campaign. a judge in virginia took the special counsel to task saying they went beyond the scope of the russia investigation in order to try to get manafort to cooperate. the judge says you don't care about mr. manafort's bank fraud. you really care about getting

information mr. manafort can give you and reflect on mr. trump and lead to prosecution or impeachment. this is a case the judge is saying the scope of the russian investigation was exceeded by the special counsel in order to squeeze manafort. the president liked hearing that. other headlines, an indiana police officer was killed friday morning during a shooting with a homicide suspect. opened fire when he was approached by four investigators. then barricaded himself inside an apartment complex after they fired back. the wounded officer was pronounced dead at the hospital. suspect also died from wound he suffer in that shootout. a man hunt is happening for suspect or suspects involved in the shooting of atf agent in chicago. raided two homes overnight. arresting one person near where the shooting took place on chicago's south side. shot in the face early friday. rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

planet's surface. new twist this morning on the growing course of former nfl cheerleaders claiming mistreatment that's way out of bounds. >> this morning an attorney for the cheerleaders said the nfl agreed to meet with her to talk about how to move forward. joining us now with that story. >> good morning. this case has had a lot of twists and turn. in facts, attorney filed two discrimination claims with the equal employment opportunity commission. that was against the nfl. all this happening against the growing allegations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination, all amongst professional cheerleaders. asked the nfl to agree to a meeting by 5:00 p.m. yesterday and they did. what happens next, she says, will determine whether cheerleaders see any real actual change. this morning the nfl says it's willing to meet and attorney sara black wewell says that's progress. let's see how we can make this better and fair for all of the cheerleaders in every team.
