try my $3 taco deal today. new at jack in the box. there ya' go. workweek. ad lib live picture-- san francisco good wednesday morning to you, we're halfway through the workweek as we take a live look in san francisco. you can see not a clear day to start but i'm sure it's going to clear up a little bit later. good morning, thanks so much for starting your morning with us. >> i'm laura garcia had to do the windshield wipers this morning. >> we've also been tracking this low visibility and that's what you'll see as you head out this morning especially in san francisco and along the coast. here's a live look outside in san jose, can't tell but you may have to do a couple of swipes of windshield wipers and we'll see clouds in the mix through about late morning and then it will be a cooler day thanks to the clouds we have moving in right now.

we'll talk about what's ahead as we feel those temperatures dip and rise again for the end of the week and mike, you already have issues on the roads. >> we were talking about the mist and that may include a couple of swipes with the windshield wipers and slicker roads because that will mean a little bit of water on the roadway. we're seeing as clouds in the radar activity moves through the east bay, oakland 880 just reports minutes ago of a crash north 880 at 23rd. i'll let chp get there. we don't see slowing but we'll get more details as chp arrives. you might have heard about an earlier closure from kald da cot. radar activity over here. we'll check the altamont pass. reports of a solo car crash out here. sounds like a spin joout, car facing the other direction. we'll get more details but fog here at the golden gate bridge. now to breaking news that we're covering from the south

bay overnight, a really strange situation at valley medical center overnight. you go there for help but instead a handful of people were exposed to some sort of chemical. >> and "today in the bay's" rob redell is live with how everyone is doing. do we know what happened here? >> reporter: we got a pretty good sense. good morning to you, marcus and laura. this happened around 11:45 last night. a medical helicopter was delivering a patient to the er department here at the valley medical center. this was a patient, a man exposed to some sort of chemical at his workplace during the course of the treatment, he had some sort of respiratory issues, sounds like he might have been coughing and ended up exposing the first responders to the same chemicals. they assisted in the decontamination. and captain tells us ten medical staff, including the flight medics were exposed. the fire department has been

able to identify the chemical. we do know the fire department and hospital were able to clean it up with soap and chemical. the cleanup included the gournny and the inside of the helicopter itself. the medical staff is okay, no other patients inside were supposed and the condition of the initial patient still unknown. bmc had to briefly modify operations here at the e.r. but now back up running normally. reporting live outside b.m.c., bob redell, "today in the bay." decision 2018, the race for governor came right through san jose. the high stakes debate right here on nbc bay area last night. >> "today in the bay" tells us there were fireworks. >> if you can't trust gavin with your best friend's wife, how can you trust with your state? >> a critical debate in california politics, no topic off-limits. >> one thing i'll do is push back against donald trump and

good morning, here are the top business headlines, wall street appears to be sh shrugging off president trump's decision with the iran deal. markets open higher after stocks closed little change yesterday. investors largely expected this move. oil prices though are surnging higher today near 3.5 year highs raising risk of conflict in the middle east and uncertainty over global oil supplies at a time when the market is already tight. the dow closing up nearly three points yesterday to 24360 and

nasdaq inching to 7,266. several companies have to reassess operations now that president trump has pulled the u.s. out of the iran nuclear deal of the one of the biggest names is boeing. the aircraft maker has agreements in place to sell jets in a deal worth $20 billion. boeing has yet to include those orders on its books but suppliers to boeing could also be affected including general electric, which makes plane -- engine parts for boeing plans. and google is adding mobile boarding passes and event tickets to google pay. it's a move that brings the digital wallet more in line with apple. the iphone has offered the ability to store mobile tickets inside of the wallet app since 2012 and google pay already let's you do that with credit cards and loyalty cards but now android users will find digital passes and scannable tickets within the app as well. back over to you. >> let's go shopping. >> that app is very useful. >> do you ice it? >> and i taught my mom to use it this past week.

can do so many things. >> that's true. >> good answer, boys. >> and mother's day is coming too. >> i'm going to make sure the weather is perfect for the weekend. we're expecting warm weather over the next few days but we'll bring it down a few degrees on mother's day. the 7-day forecast is coming up and you'll be able to check that out. let's get out the door with temperatures now. look how mild it is, we have this blanket of clouds all over the bay area keeping it from cooling down a lot. we're starting out at 60 degrees right now in san jose. it's 57 in fairfield, san francisco, 59 degrees, even though it's warm, it may feel cooler because you'll feel that mist and drizzle on your face. as you head through the morning commute in the east bay, upper 50s and we'll get clearing as the morning goes along and it will be a very nice day. lunchtime temperature at 71 degrees with sunshine and also seeing that as we look at the rest of our temperatures, but we will have our coolest day of the

week today as we only make it up to 72 degrees in san jose, which is actually about normal for this time of year. we'll be up to 60 today in san francisco, 63 in santa rosa and 75 in concord and antioch. as we start out this morning, you're getting dressed. you need a jacket and long sleeves. i say put on a hat because it won't be a good hair day if you have to walk to work and getting that moisture in your hair. just starting out the day and then it's going to kick up as far as our winds later today. notice the winds coming in onshore. that will also help cool us off as we get the cool ocean breezes at about 15 at times, 20 miles per hour in san francisco. it's going to be gusty especially this evening at about 20 to 25 miles per hour. so expect it to be windy and at times a few clouds moving in. as we look at what's happening, we have a system that's just to the north of us and as it sweeps through later this evening, we will keep some dry weather but it will also be quite windy as

we go through the day. it was nice with breezes picking up yesterday afternoon. so expect more of the same today. 77, slightly warmer tomorrow inland areas 82 degrees on friday and we're going to bring those temperatures down a few degrees in time for mother's day and early next week. san francisco low 60s today, 70 on friday and saturday and we're back in the 60s for the rest of the weekend into the new workweek. mike, the traffic is still light right now, right? >> obviously because it's 4:48, light traffic as you would expect, a light mist in many parts, you may have to use the windshield wipers for us and that might mean slicker roadways so be careful. there was a solo car crash here which i told you about, sounds like it only affects the on ramp, the freeway is fine through that area. towards the bay bridge, no problems right now but there may be fog drifting through with the golden gate and bridge and bay bridge as we've seen from time to time. the antioch had a concern. we learned about a crash there, overturned vehicle and car fire

reported connecting brentwood and rio vista. we'll track that. most of the viewers are not affected by that bridge as we look towards highway 4 through contra costa, everything is fine down through the walnut creek interchange. a little fog towards watsonville and to and from highway 17 and los gatos moving nicely. we found mist on the lens the san mateo bridge, moves just fine. you see a little bit of mist on the windshield and that might be what you have to deal with. towards the oakland coliseum -- yesterday there was a water main break over on the far side at san leandro boulevard and 56th. there is still traffic control in the area but it shouldn't affect folks heading to the a's game, keep that in mind. back to you. >> thanks, mike. they came to america seeking asylum but an 8-month-old nbc bay area investigation, discovered undocumented immigrants, chances of getting protection depends on where they see a judge. >> steven stock has spent six

years digging into problems with the immigration court system. >> we discovered in u.s. immigration courts, the numbers show justice is dispensesen equally in courts across the country. people who come to the u.s. and request asylum have vastly different outcomes depending on what court they appear in. success in pleading your cause depends on geography even more than the facts of your case. we sat down with two different women, both of whom requested asylum in u.s. immigration court here. both with very similar facts in their cases, both from honduras. both fled to the u.s. to escape domestic violence. but one woman went to court in georgia, the other went here in the bay area. they got vastly different outcomes from their different judges. and it's not just in georgia where the outcomes are so different. we found years of wide dispair tris across the country

>> chris chmura tells us this is the type of case they see far too often. >> good morning, contractor problems are among the most frequent complaints we get. viewers like mike ivy, he paid money up front but the work was never done. last october mike hired a home improvement company to build a patio cover. mike paid $1,000 down and waited five months. mike tells us no one from the contractor reached out during that time period. by march, mike's patience had run out and he request the a refund. mike says the company ignored him so he turned to us. the contractor did not return our messages about but a week after we got involved, mike says he got a full refund. so what can you do when a contractor doesn't keep up their end of the bargain? first, always do your homework. research contractors online and ask for personal references before hiring.
