a pretty incredible sight in southern california. this is called a red tide. the waves light up with a stunning blue glow. isn't it amazing? these are real pictures. it has been an incredible glow to the water there. let's get started with out the door temperatures. it will be a little bit cooler than it was yesterday. temperatures are at 51 degrees. it is 48 in santa rosa and napa. that morning commute through the south bay will start out in the mid-50s. a few clouds here and there. we'll have more coming up in a few minutes.

this morning we are getting an up close look at the new voting machines. today in the bay we have a look at how it all works. good morning. >> i love election time. i'm very happy to bring you this story. this week election work rs are testing 300 new voting machines they say will process ballots a lot more efficiently and with a lot more manual sorting. let's take a look at them. they may not look like much. in june voters will still vote with paper ball loots. if you live in alameda you already vote this way. it will look familiar to you. this is the first. at the end of the election night the 300 machines will tally a vote count without having to handle all of them by hand. consider the time savings.
