towards piedmont and oakland. that again has cleared after the overnight high speed chase and police activity that was going on in lanes there. over here we have this going now. northbound 680, that has got one lane closed northbound. this is a separate incident, completely unrelated, car went off the roadway. as we stozoom back out, the resf the bay moves nicely. easy drive expected so far. kari, it's friday, what do we have to look ahead? >> we have beautiful weather and warmer temperatures in the forecast today. today will be the warmest day of the week as we head into the low 80 aegs and mid-80s for some spots. clear view in san francisco and as we go to cupertino for our temperature trend, upper 50s at 8:00 and mid-70s by 2:00 today. we'll continue to go up from there. i'll talk about what's ahead as we go into the start of the weekend coming up in a few minutes. thank you very much. breaking news you need to hear

about this morning, a rare violent crime in sunnyvale disrupting a quiet night for shoppers and sleepers. someone shot a man in the face near remmington and sunnyvale sara towing ga. they say the shooting happened a little before 11:00 in the neighborhood nearby. the victim romingly ran and collapsed in the entrance in the 7-ee lefrn. we'll have a live report in a half hour. a minor fender bender appearing what to be a uber drive turns into a hit-and-run and theft. >> it was all caught on camera. the victim is anxious to track down the driver. here's the exclusive story. >> these little things a big issue. >> reporter: jose has a big issue with the man in this video. the driver of the black car rear-ended him on vanness in san francisco on may 1st.

>> i was taking pictures of the driver's license and insurance company. so when i have that -- on my phone, i make up a phone call to his company to be able to able to report the accident. >> that's when things changed. he handed the man his phone. when the insurance agent asked to speak with him. as he's talking, watch the driver get back in his car and take off. clipping his hip. >> he stole my phone. >> he has handed the video over to police and uber. he says an uber representative tells him they don't know who he is, but he is certain the man was working for uber because he had customers in the car and said he was working and had an uber decal. he think the driver's name is joseph and remembers his insurance card had a selma, california address. he wants to address the driver so no one else gets hurt. >> i tried to do whatever is possible to identify the guy

because this guy cannot be driving people because he was able to do that, we don't know what he can be capable to do. >> yts today in the bay. 4:34. governor jerry brown going to release a revised budget because the brand-new pot industry is not delivering all of the green the governor was hoping for. the marijuana tax is only brought in about $34 million and one fifth of what was expected. critics say taxes are too high and not enough pot licenses have been handed out. our investigator unit reported many growers and shoppers are going to the black market. >> 49ers linebacker ruben foster's domestic violence case continues today. he was accused of attacking his girlfriend in feb. she recanted her account. he is also charged with having an assault weapon and suspended

from team activities as this case plays out. parents at a san francisco middle school are stunned. san francisco unified posted this letter to parents on the website. it says a teacher at westboro middle school is accused of having inappropriate sexual relations with students during school hours. the investigation began after reports of sex crimes reporting 39-year-old joseph toy. police arrested him yesterday morning but they are not releasing his mug shot to us just yet. toy is now on administrative leave. if you have live in oakland, you may be concerned about a new sf chronicle report since the start of may the fire department is not doing any commercial fire inspections, that includes apartment buildings and restaurants and warehouses. inspections in oakland are under microscope since the deadly ghost ship fire in 2016. city leaders say the program is suspended until the department can change to a new software system. >> coming up next on quts it's

territory for the year. the rally came after we got weaker than expected report on consumer prices, that's easing some concerns about the federal reserve raising interest rates at the faster space in order to keep inflation in check. the dow rising 196 points to 24,739 and nasdaq adding 65 to 7404. cnbc learned amazon is making a deeper push into health care. the company created a team within its alexa dim tdigital assistant unit called health and wellness. potential areas they may target include managing diabetes, aging and care for new mothers and infants. amazon has been working on several health related projects, including a team at amazon web services dedicated to serving health care and pharmaceutical companies. and apple is reportedly teaming up with goldman sachs to launch a joint credit card as early as

we'll be at 79 degrees at 2:00 today and then heading into the low to mid-80s, we're going to see the high to 82 degrees in the south bay for san jose, gilroy 8 2, hayward and concord, 86 degrees there. we'll still have cool temperatures for the coast but a little bit better than yesterday. 65 at half moon bay and redwood city, topping out at 77. 83 today in novato. this friday, we need the summer gear a nice day and also sunglasses, protecting you from the sun and also nice summer dress to keep you cool and sandals a good chance as once again it will feel very much like summer and you'll have to dig to the pack of the closet. but it's going to be windy. head's up, we have to issue the skirt alert for this evening as winds increase for the evening.

it will be about 15 to 25 miles per hour and highest along the coast. we'll also have this wind advisory in effect for hills areas above 1,000 feet for the coast and also for the east bay as well as north bay. ahead a cool picture sent to me on facebook, gary showing me a picture of a sun dog. what is this? this is a sun dog. a halo around the sun in thin clouds -- >> here's a look at the 7-day forecast, low 80s for the next couple of days and cooling down for next week. mike, you're still tracking that activity for highway 24. >> we are, it's different activity now. first one you're talking about, take a look at your maps no matter where you're driving. highway 24 originally this morning, the first report transition ramp was closed after a high speed chase right at highway 13. i learn speeds reached 120 miles per hour. that's what we're talking about for high speed. that cleared from this interchange.

there's wood debris unrelated going on over here towards the caldecott, it's affecting lanes of traffic as you head there. caldecott tunnel both directions, all four running smoothly. the bay bridge, we have the cash lanes backing up on the left approach because when we typically have one of the cash lanes closed to 5:00. we'll track that across the san mateo bridge, things look nice and clear and you can see the high rise there. >> take a look at this, new video from the big island, still very unsettling situation in o hawaii. geologists say there's a chance kilauea can blow hurling boulders the sign of refrigerators in the air. so tough for people there. dozens of homes have been destroyed and more than 2,000 people evacuated. >> happening today, a big push to get governor to sign a big

protecting undocumented immigrants. today san francisco da george gastonand scott weiner will urge him to sign it into law. it protects immigrants from disclosing their immigration status in open court. a follow-up to a story we told you about yesterday morning, you can now use the bay bridge bike path whenever you want. a live look at the eastern span this morning. this is all part of that pilot program i was telling you about. they are going to see what changes need to be made for the 24/7 access to make it permanent. >> we have something like that, a lot of people want to know, do they like it? we sent ian cole to find out. >> reporter: the views of the bay bridge from the city, the tunnel can now be enjoyed a little later by foot. >> it's beautiful. look at the lights. >> reporter: the bay bridge trail for cyclists and walkers is open 24/7 until may 19th. britney brown wanted to be one of the first to ride the 2.2 mile trail on the east span of

chp and caltrans will take a good look what they learned to decide if and when to open it permanently. this may story may make you go what? crews working on muny's central subway tunnel laid down more than 3 miles of the wrong track. now they have to pull all of that up. an audit found the contractor ignored the requirement to use high strength steel instead used a standard strip rails. transportation leaders knew about it three years ago. the latest problem may delay the opening of the subway to early 2020. 4:51, new this morning, lawyers in california can no longer have sexual relationships with their clients. part of new ethics rules approved by the supreme court. it bars attorneys from coercing or demanding sex in exchange for legal representation. it does exempt sexual relationships that began before professional ones. the court did not give an

dispute with contractor they nbc bay area responds to a vacaville condo owner who had a dispute with a contractor that didn't even hire. >> turns out they mistakingly gave the wrong guy a lot of money. as consumer investigator chris chmura and the team to get it back. >> good morning. it is a story about a simple oversight that caused severe headaches. it all started with flooring and kitchen work on this condo. the owner solicited several bids but after they selected one company they sent the $24,000 to the wrong business by maistake. that company cashed the check and later sent a refund but that was not the end of this story. >> the check was returned for insufficient funds. >> it bounced?

let's get over to kari. >> it's going to be warm at least for today and tomorrow and little cooler in time for mother's day. we're also concerned about the wind and i wanted to tell you about the wind advisory in effect for coast and hills for elevations above 1,000 feet, especially we could have gusts over 50 miles per hour from the northeast sustained at about 25 to 40. that kicks in later this evening through saturday morning and there could be some downed trees and power lines. i'll detail that and how warm it gets today in a few minutes. mike, now you have a correction for highway 24? >> i do. the issue with the big chunks of wood was on eastbound highway 24. it's actually westbound and that is your commute direction. chunks of wood reported outside the caldecott tunnel and highway 13. i haven't seen any slowing and haven't heard any updates of traffic breaks. still tracking it until they clear it.
