let's get over to kari. >> it's going to be warm at least for today and tomorrow and little cooler in time for mother's day. we're also concerned about the wind and i wanted to tell you about the wind advisory in effect for coast and hills for elevations above 1,000 feet, especially we could have gusts over 50 miles per hour from the northeast sustained at about 25 to 40. that kicks in later this evening through saturday morning and there could be some downed trees and power lines. i'll detail that and how warm it gets today in a few minutes. mike, now you have a correction for highway 24? >> i do. the issue with the big chunks of wood was on eastbound highway 24. it's actually westbound and that is your commute direction. chunks of wood reported outside the caldecott tunnel and highway 13. i haven't seen any slowing and haven't heard any updates of traffic breaks. still tracking it until they clear it. a new crash may be going on
5:01 am
south 880 around 23rd. still waiting for chp to give any detail on that. farther north we're looking at the richmond/san rafael bridge, that commute looking great. >> thanks, mike. we have breaking news in the south bay. a frightening series of events for a sunnyvale neighborhood. police say that someone shot a man in his face near remmington a and sunnyvale saratoga. this is a shocking situation this man had to go through this. >> reporter: yes, the scene is very quiet out here behind me. this is a 7-eleven where the man ended up after he had a wound to his face, he was in the entrance here. but sunnyvale police tell us this is where the man was actually shot and this is on spinosa drive and people who live on street where the shooting happened, told our camera man, this s an extremely
5:02 am
quiet neighborhood but that perhaps the reason that police found so much blood and such a trail of evidence is because that man was going door to door knocking trying to get some help. now at this point, what we know is that when the man was shot, he managed to get away, looking for help. he made it all the way here to the 7-eleven store and an ambulance took him to a nearby trauma center. we don't know how he's doing at this point this morning. we do know the victim is a black man in his late 20s, perhaps early 30s. the suspect though, the only thing we know is that they fled in an suv. we don't know what kind or color. we are asking sunnyvale for more details on what happened, why this happened and so that you can decide whether or not this is a concern for you and your family. when we get those answers, we'll bring them to you, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> thanks for the latest there, kris. we'll check back with you. it's 5:02 right now. mike just mentioned if you use

5:09 am
we have this crash reported a little farther north south 880 at 23rd, right near where they typically have the overnight bridge construction. traffic looks like it's moving at speed but watch for a report of a crash in that area. meanwhile as we zoom out, you see that everything on the speed sensors pretty much at speed except for the altamont pass, and over on the shoulder but more distraction means a potential for more slowing. over here we're looking at 580 through dublin. a steady flow of traffic but like the shot of the nimitz, it's at speed but they have a lot of company, guys, back to you. >> thanks, mike. >> i'll take this one. one for the team. coming up next on "today in the bay," one step closer to untangling traffic in one of the most congested cities in the state. a new peek behind the curtain at elon musk's tunnel. >> new changes to starbucks and its coffee. coming up later at 5:25, the
