parts of contra costa county and walnut creek today as we are going to start out at 63 degrees at 9:00 and 81 degrees, it's going to jumping up to 82 at 3:00 today, inland areas 85 and the winds will increase this evening and then start to calm down early tomorrow. mother's day is looking good. 77 degrees and more cool air in the forecast next week. we'll talk about what's ahead for the weekend and more on those wind speeds coming up in just a few minutes. mike showing more slowing on the sensors for hayward. >> that's the only slowing -- not the only slowing, mostly the slowing through hayward. san jose shows a little bit as well. zooming in towards 880 southbound at a street, the crash may be blocking one lane, that's the update from chp, the other slowing behind my name, we had the bay bridge toll plaza because metering lights are on. the upper east shore free with a is great at speed. contra costa, a street getting on the westbound highway 4. only slows a bit into concord. really no problem for the wall

nut creek interchange, that's great. alameda, looking great as well. there's the backup we talked about at the bay bridge toll plaza because that's what you see on a friday. the fast track lanes are moving and visibility movement at the bay bridge is better than no movement. over to you. >> thank you very much. you don't usually see this kind of news out of sunnyvale, it is breaking news from the south bay. a frightening night for people where police say someone shot a man in the face overnight. kris sanchez is there this more than with a look at what happened. do we know anything more, kris? >> reporter: well, at some point we know it is a routine morning for folks getting morning paper. this 7-eleven is where the man ended up after he was shot in the face and collapsed in the entrance with that wound that looked so serious. sunnyvale police tell us this is where the man was actually shot and this is on spinosa drive and people who live where the

shooting happened told our cameraman overnight it is an extremely quiet neighborhood. sunnyvale's department of public safety investigators found several witnesses and put down several evidence markers as well. at this point what we know, when the man was shot he ran away looking for help. he was knocking door to door on spinosa drive before he made it to the 7-eleven store. this is where an ambulance took him to a nearby trauma center. we don't know how he's doing at this point this morning. the victim is a black man in early 30s, the suspect at this point is -- all we know they fled in this sort of suv, we don't know what kind or what color or even if what direction. we are asking sunnyvale for more details on what happened and perhaps why it happened so that you can decide who or not this is a concern for you and your family. when we get those answers, we'll bring them to you. ? sunnyvale, kris sanchez, "today

in the bay." >> we have more breaking news to tell you about. we're getting word of an officer involved shooting investigation under way in san francisco. now, we're told that officers were investigating two people breaking into cars early this morning. this is near steiner and gary. one suspect was immediately arrested and the second suspect led police on a chase. this ended up hitting two cars and those police cars and even hurt one of those officers. another officer opened fire tried to stop the suspect but did not hit anyone. the suspect was finally arrest inside civic center plaza. >> new this morning, if you use highway 13 from contra costa in through oakland, good news. all lanes are clear again after a crash during an early morning high speed chase. it ended on the ramp connecting highway 24 to 13. chp says that about 3:00 in the morning officers tried to pull over a speeding suv on highway 4 in antioch. at times the speeds reached 120

miles per hour. two people in that car are in custody, neither have serious injury. listen to this high tech plot, a concord teenager supposedly h lly hacked into th school's computer system and changed several students grades, he sent the mt. diablo district teacher a phishing e-mail and she clicked on it and it gave him her login. detectives arrested him yesterday. >> 6:04. if you've ever gone to a track and field meet you probably have seen people throwing shot put. this morning a brentwood teen is in the hospital after he was hit in the head with one of them. >> can you imagine the pain? bob redell live at john muir in walnut creek. they don't think this was intentional though. >> reporter: no, the heritage high school where the boy attends school, they are still trying to figure out what happened but they do not believe this was intentional that this was perhaps an accident. look at this video released by

the east contra county fire protection district. it shows the helicopter arriving at the high school 4:30 yesterday afternoon to transport the boy to the trauma center. the teenager is a 15-year-old student was hit in the head by the shot put which is a -- if you're not familiar, a 12-pound steel ball that athletes heave in the air for distance. the firefighters who first treated the time could not comment on his condition. in other words it's not clear if the shot put injury to his head is life threatening or nonlife threatening. >> reporting live in walnut creek, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> two men facing charges in the 2016 oakland warehouse fire will be back in court today. they operated the warehouse fire and asking for the charges to be tossed out at harris asking for his bail amount to be lower. the judge is expected to rule on both requests today and you may

remember 36 people died in that fire which happened during a dance party. >> a controversial former season sheriff is now trying to save his dog's life. it attacked a woman's pet. she took her tchihuahua mix namd buddy to the dog park earlier this year. cobb says former sheriff ross mur occur rinneny's boxer started fighting. he got his dog to stop and paid the woman $800 for her dog's medical care. now san francisco's vicious and dangerous dog unit must decide what to do with his dog. his options range from youth nas ya and training dog forcing it to wear a muzzle in public. he has been is he center of controversies -- >> might pay less to get across the bay bridge. new discounts for golden gate transit buses and ferries are reportedly closer to get the green light but there's a big if

santa teresa, 62 degrees and making it up in the upper 70s today. we'll see temperatures climbing a few more degrees from there for some spots. as we go to concord today, getting the kids ready for school, don't forget it's school appreciation week. 56 degrees will be the temperature heading to school and upper 70s, a big warm-up for early afternoon. if you're lucky enough to go to the beach, it's going to be beautiful in santa cruz with low 70s and sunshine there. mike, you're tracking a couple of issues for highway 101? >> there were changes and stick with us, folks, we're looking at green sensors for most of the bay and we have this issue 880 with a crash on the shoulder at a street. there's one incident over here on the pennsylvaninsula, i'll t about that in a second. a jumbled report but first one we got the update, north 101 and all lanes are clear through san martin. because of the morning build that crash is no longer a

warm-up at recess, they'll be outside and all of this sunshine. then by the time the last school bell ringses, mid-70s today. it's going to be much warmer than yesterday and heading up to 80 degrees in san jose. 82 in livermore and 86 in concord and in santa rosa, 85 degrees today. while san francisco will be at a nice comfortable 70 degrees. but i do have a big head's up for you this morning. a wind advisory will be in effect for the coast and hills and areas above 1,000 feet especially in those winds will begin to rush in at 25 to 40 miles per hour with higher gusts to 50 miles per hour. that begins tonight continues through saturday morning and this could down trees and power lines and now is the time to secure in lawn furniture and make sure those trash cans won't get blown around. here's a look at the wind speed forecast. the areas in brown show where the wind advisory will be in effect. and by 8:00 this evening, those winds picking up sustained at about 25 miles per hour. once again, gusts could be a

way so san francisco and e oakland. the crash over in antioch did clear from the a street on ramp, slowing through concord. the other crash i'm tracking is right here west 580. mid span reports of a crash and the car is pretty damaged but the person was taken from the scene to get medical attention. we're tracking that westbound richmond to san rafael bridge. highway 37 and bay bridge do move pretty smoothly. we have the north bay here, san rafael southbound 101 and easy drive here all the way down to the golden gate bridge. but you can't see that sun coming up and these -- well the hills are turning a little brown because the sun is coming down on them. over to you, marcus. >> thanks, mike. 6:31, new for you this morning, we're heading into fire season, a lot of us still thinking about the devastating north bay wildfires, just take a look there. obviously a lot of things are out of our control when it comes to fires but there are some steps that we all can take to protect our families as well as our homes, take gs us right now live to pete suratos live in

clayton this morning when what we're expecting this fire season, pete? >> reporter: gmg to you marcus, talking to cal fire, they say because so much rain came in april, there's a lot of fuel that's possible here, fuel for the vegetation for potentials of wildfires. in clayton, you're seeing still plenty of green but on the hill it's starting to brown. that's some of the concerns across the bay area. specifically here in the mt. diablo area. if you live in the area this may ring a bell the morgan fire happened back in 2013. we have video to show you. you see that fire taking over the hillside reaching 4,000 acres and it was sparked by a target shooting. that was according to investigators at the time of that fire. so this is all something that's still fresh in the minds of folks i spoke to in clayton w who -- some of them were forgsed to evacuate as a result of the fire. they told me there was fire

blowing throughout the city. here's what we had to say about preparing for the upcoming wildfire season. >> i got a fire break behind my fence because i have a hill behind me and mt. diablo is in the front. i make a fire break and pull wooeds. >> the main thing so to keep the weeds cut down so there's nothing to burn. >> i have a hill i keep that we'd whacked down. >> we're right at the foot of mt. diablo, you always want to be ready for something like that. we don't live in fear but at the same time we want to be ready. when the last fire came we saw people in the church and community come together. of course the potential of more fuel along the hillsides across the bay area, cal fire wants to remind folks that the vegetation will dry out and pose a potential fire danger. of course you want to be aware of your surroundings and like they mentioned in those interviews you just heard create

a defensible space and clear out the brush around your home in the event of a wildfire reaching that area. back out live, you can see the hillside we're showing you, starting to brown out a little bit and all advice that we tell you around this time but it's something you shouldn't take lightly. we're live in clayton, pete suratos, "today in the bay." >> it can grow so quickly too. >> affecting your money, governor injuriry brown is going to release a revised budget partly because of the brand-new pot industry not really delivering all of the green the governor was hoping for. the marijuana tax has only brought in $34 million. it is about one fifth of what was expected. critics say taxes are too high and not enough pot licenses have been handed out. our investigative unit reported many growers and shoppers are going to the black market. a man who said he was rear-ended by an uber vehicle

wants people to know what he claims cameras show what happens after the incident. you with see the driver in that black car. that's who the other driver says rear-ended him may 1st on vanness in san francisco. when he handed the driver the iphone to speak with his insurance company, the driver got back in his car and took off with the phone and clipping that man in the process. he says that he believes that the other driver worked for uber although uber has no record of that. >> i tried to do whatever is possible because this guy cannot be driving people if he was able to do that, we don't know what he can be capable to do. >> the man says that he was hoping to identify the other driver. he believes the driver may be named joseph and he says joseph had passengers in the back of that car. >> it is 6:35.

49ers linebacker ruben foster's domestic violence case continues in san jose. foflter is accused of attacking his former girlfriend in february. although she recanted her claims against foster, she may still testify under oath at today's preliminary hearing. he is charged with having an assault weapon and suspended from the time as the case plays out. >> if you live in oakland you may be concerned about a new sf chronicle report since the start of may, fire department not doing any commercial fire inspections. that includes apartment buildings and restaurants and warehouses, inspections in oakland are under microscope since the deadly ghost ship fire in 2016. city leaders say the program is as you say spendsed until the department can change over to a new software system. if a crime happens on a college campus, you may not hear about it. that's what a new state audit says. sf gate is reporting several public and private california colleges are not complying with a federal law requiring them to

disclose crimes at or near campus. one example berkeley city college did not disclose a 2016 rape, instead reporting new crimes on its website. the audit found disclosure errors in 20% of crimes examined at four schools, including san jose state. we keep watching developments in hawaii, sign sifts say there's no end in sight. lava is still flowing and earth still tracking. geologists say there's potential for explosive new eruption at kilauea's summit. if the volume kacano blows, it hurl ash and boulders the size of refrigerators miles into the air. that would shut down airlines and put people's lives at risk in all direction. >> tough go of it there. >> remember the danger involved. we're following that with great concern. over here i'm concerned trafficwise about the richmond to san rafael bridge westbound 580. this is a toll plaza where

things are congested anyway but getting across the span there was report of a crash and it sounds like there was dedegree blocking one lane. you can use the service lane as well. westbound does show the backup, relatively minor compared to a typical weekday but fridays tend to see a lighter flow. this is unexpectedly slow for these folks, you can go highway 37, alternate to the north. bay bridge has meerterring lights on but it's friday. lighter flow of traffic there. around the bay, you see an incident popping up 101 around willow. i'll check on that as far as the flow getting to the peninsula, the san mateo bridge creeping along. a burst of traffic from 880. i'll check to make sure there's no incidents on the span. >> you know what's creeping up? the weekend. temperatures are creeping up as well. >> the temperatures are going to go way up today, it's still going to be warm tomorrow and also windy. we'll talk about that.

let's get a look at saturday's forecast. you may want to make plans to head to the beach because it's going to be nice and comfortable especially for saturday. 70 degrees, 80 degrees for the bay and inland areas up to 83 degrees. mother's day looking gorgeous. won't be as windy, we'll keep the sunshine. mid-60s for the coast. it will be cool in some spots. the bay at 74 degrees and 84 degrees for the inland valleys and mike was talking about the j town immersive happening in japan town and that's going to be a cool event as they mix jazz with swing music and taiko drumming. it's going to be beautiful with sunshine and highs in the upper 70s for the middle of the afternoon and nice cool evening for san jose for tomorrow. and then on sunday, a little bit cooler especially in al la immediate da for the spring festival. sunshine and we only make it up to 64 degrees with a light breeze. if you're going out of town or up to lake shasta, it's today going to be low 70s, very nice

they say that shooting happened a little before 11:00 in spinosa in the neighborhood nearby. the man ran and collapsed at the entrance of that 7-eleven we showed you a moment ago. right now he's in the hospital. more breaking news, a police shooting investigation in san francisco, we're told officers were investigating two people breaking into cars early this morning near steiner and gearry. one suspect was immediately arrested and the second suspect led police on a chase ending up hitting two plea cars and hitting one of the officers, another officer open fire and tried to stop the suspect but did not hit anyone. they finally arrested that suspect inside civic center plaza. >> all lanes of highway 13 back open after an early morning chase and crash that ended on the ramp connectsing highway 24 to highway oakland. >> officers tried to stop a speeding driver but they

wouldn't pull over. that chase reached speeds to 120 miles per hour at times. eventually the driver crashed and two people in the car taken into custody. both going to be fine. >> a brentwood teen in the hospital after he was hit in the head with a shot put. he was taken yesterday to john muir medical center. the 15-year-old was hit with a 1 12-pound shot put while he was on the track at the high school. the school is trying to figure out exactly what happened but they don't think it was intentional. firefighters can't tell us how the teen is doing this morning because he is a minor. a live look at sjc this morning where you need to make sure you are there early this morning. the airport is expecting a lot of travel today because of mother's day weekend and graduations, also google's conference is wrapping up. security checkpoints are open early at both terminals today. hopefully you won't have to wait in long lines too long. normally you need to get to the airport an hour before your
