hercules on the edge, eastern edge or western edge of the county. we'll take you to the maps. showing a smooth drive, speed acceptsors south of the bay bridge. westbound 80, westbound highway 4, overnight crash coming into hercules. that's where we saw a little bit of slowing. that may also be because of the road crews clearing from the construction westbound 80 just past highway 4. all those lanes are open. i'm tracking for any updates. so far we're okay once you get onto the freeway. the issue is coming over to the freeway on westbound highway 4. meanwhile bay bridge toll plaza shows an easier drive. 880 past coliseum, one construction crew pick up the northbound side. a bigger issue and i'll bring that to you coming up. >> thanks, mike. 4:31. back to breaking news. this is south bay. police are investigating in a neighborhood off of sierra road

and skyview drive. right now people aren't allowed to drive through the area. >> bob redell is as close as he can get to the scene this morning. what's going on? >> within the past few minutes while you were sitting there talk talking we saw two vans, county coroner's office driving up, collecting two people that passed away overnight. skyview drive, the police department has established this red block to prevent anyone from going up sierra road where there is a crime scene. we know police called out here. we know detectives as well. we reached out to information officer as well as law enforcement force to find out whether or not detectives with the homicide unit and confirm whether or not police are still looking for a suspect in the crime. obviously we have very limited information. we do know again, we saw two

mortuary vans with the coroner's office up the road. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thanks, bob. we'll check back in with you in half an hour or so. >> 4:33, we know the drug epidemic in the city is back. today san francisco mark farrell lays out an ambitious plan. they want to give addicts a new treatment drug. it's similar to methadone but said to be more effective with fewer side effects. he hopes to put $6 million into the new program over the next two years. san francisco leaders are attacking heroin addiction from all angles. they want to be the first u.s. city anywhere to provide supervised injection sites. our investigative unit this week tackled that issue. going to vancouver where they have supervised injection sites. can you read the story on nbcbayarea.com. we are learning more details about the deadly crash in

fremont. we brought you that breaking news highway 880 that shut down two hours. the crash happened tuesday night. 21-year-old. nguyen tran driving under the influence of pot and caused that crash. three people in the escalade were killed and there were eight people in an suv all heading home frafter a day at the zoo. nine-year-old girl and her sister among the victims as well. christy went to sierra high school. that school is in mourning as you can imagine. here are some of her classmates. >> it's devastating to know she was killed by marijuana and a person under the influence driving. >> it's horrible what happened. she was an amazing person. >> 39-year-old noelle johnson also killed. a baby also injured and remains

in critical condition at stanford. tran is set to be arraigned today. >> this is a story that shocked so many. a mother in a fairfield child abuse case is in jail this morning. yesterday the judge increased her jail to $500,000. she said her husband jonathan allen was the one abusing the children. he's in jail. prosecutors say she helped in the abuse and told the children not to tell anyone. court documents show the couple's troubled past to when they lived in vallejo. the husband charged with four felonies in 2011, assault with a firearm and making criminal threats involving his wife. some of the allegations are just horrible in that case. the search continues for the owner of two pit bulls in an attack. this dog attacked another dog named bloom at dolores park on sunday.

bloom's owner said she tried to break it up and were bitten. two others were bitten. they are looking for the man and the dog you see her. >> 4:35. fire season officially begins. the communities getting ready to protect themselves. reminding you to clear out brush and vegetation, making it harder for the fire to spread. last year we dealt with deadly north bay fires as you remember. we'll get a look at the weekly drought monitor this morning. of course the drought is over but somewhat permanent limits. watering your lawns and hosing off those sidewalks and driveways. many communities still have stricter drought era rules in place atherton puts people on water budget. morgan hill, pleasanton, cupertino and milpitas only allow you to use water and water lawns during specific times.

good morning, i'm leslie picker live at cnbc headquarters. here are today's top business stories. wall street could see some red arrow at the opening bell this morning. the markets rose yesterday as investors managed to shrug off another spike in bond yields. the yields on the benchmark ten-year treasury hit its highest level since 2011. stocks were led by the retail sector as macy's reported better than expected earnings. look for earning on unemployment and manufacturing from walmart. dow rising, nasdaq closing up 46 to 7398. instagram testing a feature to show you how much time you spend on the app or wasting time looking at selfies, pictures of

day for some light long sleeves, then sunglasses for the afternoon. then if you're heading out to the contra costa county fair, that kicks off today in antioch. and it's dollar day. as the kids get out of school, tal ab cool place to head. not so cool as far as our temperatures, at least to start. it will be cooling down quite a bit as we go into the evening in the upper 50s as the sun sets. as we look at our high temperatures for today, concord 73 degrees. in oakland expect a high of 64 and 69 in palo alto. 0 today in san jose and in san francisco. 61 degrees. heads up if you're going to the sierra. we're going to have these afternoon showers and thunderstorms firing up. again, we've pretty much seep this all week long with those storms and also some brief heavy rain. even for tomorrow into the weekend we'll see some more rounds of storms there while we stay dry in the bay area, we'll be up to 70 for the inland area.

73 tomorrow, a trend for the weekend. saturday is looking really nice with mid-70s but no big warm-up here. we're going to keep those temperatures pretty much the same. only slight changes over the next few days. mike, now you have two crashes in oakland. >> i do, kari. i turned the camera, looked northbound. the approach to coliseum. northbound 98 right where we're looking at the start to the headlights. report of a car that went off the roadway. i've been watching it. does look like one set of headlights off on the shoulder, maybe lanes are clear at this point. looking at maps through the area and i don't see slowing here. the other crash on surface streets 98 and bancroft. overpass deadly crash on those oakland streets, not far from 580, near academy, a park in the area as well. this is on city streets and blocking the intersection 98 currently blocked. we're told by pd there's going to be another couple hours of investigation. my hope is everything opens up

of her alleged sexual assault and harassment at the hands of her spanish teacher and her effort to tell school leadership what happened. >> she also warned me to be careful of my public words so as not to face a liable suit. >> she's talking about the vice principal at the time and now current precipitation pal. she released a letter, "i realize the past seven months have been paperful and distressing to the entire family. the co-founder says the apology falls short. >> the apology was an apology if she contributed to any of this negative culture. this is not a negative culture. this is breaking the law over and over and over. >> reporter: she says miller and other leaders ignored state law when they failed to report multiple allegations of sexual misconduct to police. educate the 435 parents and community members and asked them to keep pressure on the school.

some parents are conflicted about how leadership is handling this. >> if the pope can say he's sorry, i don't understand why they just can't say there are things we mishandled and this is how we're going to go forward in the future. >> miller's letter addressed changes. the school revised policies, additional staff training on mandatory reporting to law enforcement and a director responsible for dealing with reports of harassment and abuse.
