the new cholula buttery jack. part of the buttery jack family. only at jack in the box. ad lib livpi it's friday morning. i'm going to say it twice, friday. almost the weekend. a live look at san jose as we get started with our friday morning. thanks so much for joining us. i'm marcus washington. >> i'm laura garcia. vianey is in for kari this morning. >> we have mild temperatures in the 50s and we do have those low clouds and fog out there. if you're heading out on the road keep that in mind, turn on those low beams. san francisco 56 degrees, palo alto 54, san jose also in the 50s and if we take a quick look right now at some of that fog taking over especially along the coast and north bay, we can see not a big change in terms of our 24 hours but we can expect to see clearing into tonight and

also some warmer temperatures. we'll talk about that coming up in just a bit. let's check in with mike for a look at traffic. >> we're talking about smoke instead of fog. i'll track that fog as well. no complaints into chp, we're looking at this on the chp grid for a while. should have all lanes clearing in the next couple of minutes but there was a car fire -- car was engulfed in flames westbound 580 around keler. no injuries reported. it's taken a while but the crews on scene say they should be clear in a few minutes. no slowing towards the maze. east shore freeway over here, the walnut creek interchange and carquinez bridge moving nicely through the north bay. southbound 101 through san rafael looks clear. around sir francis drake reports of debris. watch out at the off ramp itself. we have breaking news out of florida -- an active shooter at president trump as doral golf club. a man walked into the lobby

making anti-trump statements and officers shot and injured him. no one else was hurt. it was 70 miles south of the march ra lag go resort in west palm beach. they are not identifying the gunman. they say it is not terrorism related but the investigation is continuing. now to a developing story here at home. fire concerns are mounting in the bay area. firefighters are worried after two fires in one night. one in san jose and the other in redwood city. we told you yesterday that fire season officially started yesterday. >> "today in the bay" sergio quintana talks to neighbors who are very nervous. >> reporter: you can see the extent of the grass fire and the smoke could be seen from blocks away. >> i seen the smoke come around and i was like what? >> as we pulled up we saw the smoke and this was just like everywhere zpl for residents this open fire has become a concern. >> you're damne if you do or

don't. pick your day. >> reporter: this fire happened during rush hour and snarled traffic along the expressway. in red wwood city, air quality issues who work nearby. >> we have masks so it helps filter and air filter. >> the two fires burned within a few hours of each other. fire crews are concern because it's been very dry the last several weeks. >> we haven't had enough rain so it does look like it's going to be a very busy fire season. >> it's not quite fire season but the quikly drying open spaces throughout the bay area has crews on alert. >> it's super dry out. and we had rain earlier which caused things to kinds of get overgrowth. >> sergio quintana, "today in the bay." >> san jose leaders will hear firsthand about the growing number of police officers being disciplined for michigsconduct. this is by san jose police department police auditor. two officers lost their jobs

last year this is due to misconduct. and at the same time, the number of citizens complaints are down nearly 25% from year ago. and down nearly 40% from 2014. the city council hearing is tuesday. >> soaring housing prices and precious little demand has renters in san francisco calling for protections, they'll look at the new ordinance outside normal rent control limitations. for example to cover maintenance expenses, a property tax increase due to change in ownership. it gets under way at 10:30 this morning. a live look at golden gate bridge. you think you're seeing the end of the golden gate toll hikes, think again. the bridge district is now one year away from the end of a staggered five-year increase. july 1st, the last hike to $8 takes in effect for nonfast track users and the bridge board members are said to be planning meetings this fall.

this is to debate how soon more hikes will be needed. 4:34. the royal wedding is now less than 24 hours away. this morning we're learning about the last minute changes to the ceremony. prince charles will walk meghan markel down the aisle. >> no doubt heard about the controversy over meghan markel's father. jay gray is in windsor and catches us up on the royal drama. >> reporter: the band is in tune. the soldiers in step and the horse and carriage drivers have mapped out their course. the rehearsals are over and now the real thing is just a day away. >> make a real cute couple. >> but prince harry and meghan markel aren't your typical royal couple. she an american divorcee with a diverse heritage and actress. >> different times really. times are changing, it's really good. >> reporter: despite being held in a 500-year-old windsor castle

wall street looks set to open higher after stocks ended in the red yesterday. they turned lower after president trump said he doubts trade talks between the u.s. and china will be successful. tensions between washington and beijing have risen it reept months with billions in dollars in tariffs sparking fears of a trade war. the nasdaq closed down 15 to 7,382. ebay launched a new feature on ios and android to personalize items based on your hobbies and interests. it determines what you like with a brief survey that let's users choose things they enjoy shopping for and create a list of items that will be organized into groups on your home page. remember a few months bag with elon musk sold 20,000 personal flamethrowers to promote the boring company, if you ordered one, you'll get one real soon. musk admitted they did encounter delivery challenges when it came to shipping devices with loaded

live pictures of oracle arena -- welcome back, it is finally friday and you're watching "today in the bay." live pictures for you at oracle arena where the warriors will host the rockets. the series is tied 1-1. tip-off is 6:00 p.m. on sunday. look who we found roaming around oakland. three giraffes lounging in the sun at the oakland zoo. look at them look up like what is that face. >> i'm glad you said they were at the oakland zoo. i didn't see that at the report. >> elephant. elephant in lane one, slowing things down. >> my gosh. >> roaming around. >> i love going to the zoo. >> so fun. >> it's a great thing. not just for kids. oakland, san francisco. >> even happy hollow has a zoo. >> a little one. >> and the weather will be perfect. you know, we're going to see a little bit of a warm-up today

but it will be okay because it's not going to be hot. i'll call it warm because temperatures will remain in the 70s. temperatures are fairly mild in the 50s, 49 degrees in santa rosa. 54 degrees in oakland. 56 for san jose. and if you're heading out to santa cruz this weekend, you're in for some great weather as well. great beach weather, 51 degrees and the temperatures are mild. we are expecting a slight warm-up today. expect to keep the low clouds and some of that fog at least for the first half of the day before we start to see some areas of sunshine out there. we're going to get breaks in the clouds and half moon bay right now not seeing a big difference in terms of temperatures, a 5 degree warm-up. not a lot going on. that's what it looks like when we're seeing warm conditions. we're seeing showers but that's far off in the mountain area, not close to the bay area. san francisco looking nice and clear. we are expecting these clear conditions in terms of dry weather to remain at least into the start of the weekend ahead which will be great for us.

your san jose temperature trend, take a look at this, we're going to keep the sunshine again as i mentioned with cloud cover. a combination of sun and clouds will start to climb in the 7 0e's and the microclimate highs throughout the bay area and 70s, san jose 72 and milpitas 71. check out the east bay, 77 for concord, 74 for walnut creek and even along the peninsula, we mighting seeing breezy to windy conditions and still expect to see 60s in the forecast. if you're heading to the north bay, you can expect to see great weather there as well. your hour by hour look outlook, we will be keeping that cloud cover at least for the coast for the majority of the day but then into saturday, we're going to see clearing. let's send things over to mike. >> a couple of issues, unexpectedly backed up at the bay bridge toll plaza but i'm looking at the lanes and it looks like your standard two, one on each side for toll takers, not open overnight.

we're watching for other eissue but not seen across the bay. we'll see there's a little bit of early rush at the cash lanes. way over here coming out of the altamont pass, chp has requested that perhaps you might want to issue a traffic alert. i'll give it to you anyway, westbound 580, a 62,000 big rig out of gas in the middle of 580 and that has the backup all the way back towards mountain house. that is a problem for folks coming into our area but that will provide some relief for folks like here through dublin where the traffic is going to be held up at the altamont pass. you may get more of a break on a friday but we'll track this and hopefully look at that heavy duty big rig pretty quickly to clear that rig. back to you. >> 4:48. it's a practice no other oil producing state in the nation allows, i'm talking about dumping of oil waste water into unlined ponds. hundreds of these ponds still operate. >> and scientifics are becoming

increasingly concerned waste water is carrying toxins underground and polluting clean ground water. stephen stock. >> experts tell us perk lags ponds such like these now threaten some parts of the future water supply. we found hundreds of these ponds from monterey to kern county. in some cases the toxins from the ponds are already migrating and reached once clear underground water. fr when the mixture comes back to the surface, the waste water contains chemicals that are toxic to humans, proponents of this pond disposal method say the soil and bacteria method filter out the toxins and that does happen. but new evidence from the local water quality control board shows not all toxins are filtered every time. that worries environmental scientists who say these perk lags ponds may threaten future water supplies.

today: a small business in marin that had trouble wh nbc bay area responds to the fight of the little guy. a small business in marin had trouble with a business. >> the owner returned it our response team for help and chris chmura joins us with the story. >> good morning, lance has a

website through go daddy for his mom and pop business. an e-mail marketing campaign was part of that package. but lance says that service stopped working about a year ago. he says he's tried ever since to get tech support but go daddy blamed his browser or network. lance says that wasn't the problem because he tried different browsers and networks even on different devices. during all of this, lance says his business suffered because it needs that e-mail marketing. so he reached out to us for help. we con facted go daddy and right afterward lance says the problem was fixed. he got personal help from a go daddy representative and lance said i gave him my two cents and told him his support team is in need of repairs. it made me so happy. lance also got free service for a year, that's a $400 value. in a statement go daddy didn't address exactly what went wrong. it just said we have worked with our customer and resolved the

foggy out there. that's okay, san francisco live shot right there. the current temperatures are fairly mild in the 50s, 55 degrees for san francisco. 55 for hayward, san jose at 56 degrees. and yes, we are definitely seeing some of those low clouds out there but we are expecting some peaks of sunshine to eventually break through. here's a quick check of your san jose temperature trend as you're heading out to your lunch hour today, we'll already be in the upper 6 o's so today's forecast is looking like 70s, maybe 80s, but i'll talk more about that in a bit. we have to check in with mike first. >> low clouds are not presenting a major problem but we're looking at smooth sensors everywhere except here, west 580 out of the altamont pass and back on west 205, jammed in towards tracey, we have a disabled big rig, 62,000 pounds of big rig in the middle of the freeway trying to get a heavy duty tow
