president and his associates and whether they were involved in that. 245z a good question and very much a part of his work but it is not easy. this investigation is so tricky because it involves countless interviews with foreign government and foreign individuals, all of these people who really have no reason to cooperate. in fact, they may not want to cooperate unless they suffer some kind of punishment from the trumed administration and the mueller team had to chase down various bank records that might show payments or loans from foreign governments to people connected with the trump campaigns all of these things take so much time, and acourting to most people familiar with other investigations, actually the mueller effort is moving along pretty quickly considering all of that. they focus on the questions of conspiracy and collusion. >> we also heard possible issues with obstruction of justice involving the president. where does mueller stand on
7:49 am
that. there are two issues, possible discussions with don jr. after the june 2016 meeting with russian visitors and why trump fired fbi director james comey, mueller has been very quiet here as well but we have hints. it appears mueller may have completed much of his interviews with everyone except president trump on these questions. >> we've heard a lot in recent weeks about president trump whether he would do an interview, maybe a written statement. does that look likely and how important is that to the mueller investigation? can he do it without the president testifying? >> we hear different things on this part of the investigation from different people close to it. some experts believe an interview with president trump is critical to clearing up the on strupgs component but others say that trump already implicated himself when he told the russian ambassador at the publicly televised meeting that he faced great pressure from comb comey over the investigation and fired him.
7:50 am
for these reasons mueller may not have to interview trump. >> you don't have a crystal ball but let's talk about how an investigation is going to progress. what are the next steps? >> mueller has to tie up so much loose ends regarding possible issues regarding conspiracy, fraud and obstruction. these are all big. don't expect this to end too soon. it could go on for another year or so and that would be moving at a pretty good pace. given the average length of the last special counsel investigations three years, three years is the average, we have go give this guy time. when it ends, when it ends, we should have clarity over a very serious challenges that have threatened our democracy. it's that important. >> it is indeed. thank you so much for your insight in breaking that down for us. stay with us, still ahead, it is the latest craze, the gender reveal party. i know some people who have done it. we'll talk about how it didn't go quite as planned for one bay area family. >> it was fun to see those

evening long into monday morning. it gets a little breezy as well in the north bay. not as windy in the south bay. about 8 miles per hour in san jose. but still just enough to definitely make you notice that we'll get wave -- flags waving out there and trees as well. i also want to bring in the sierra. if people are traveling up there this weekend or heading out tomorrow morning, there is still going to be the chance of seeing more thunderstorms through tonight and into monday evening as well. into the afternoon. so keep that in mind because when we start seeing thunderstorms pick up, we also see the windy conditions with your drive bay to breakers, been there all among. we're going to keep a lot of cloud cover. for those who choose to maybe wear something less than an outfit, you may want to think twice when we're thinking about how breezy it gets along the coast and over next serve days we'll keep the cooler conditions around for next several days.
