coming as mr. trump and his ally try to unveil just who that reported informant might be. and as the president's top lawyer gives a deadline for the mueller probe. we get more now from nbc's susan mcennis in washington. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we have the president's attorney rudy giuliani telling nbc news special counsel robert mueller's team told him they will wrap up the obstruction part of this investigation by september 1st. giuliani saying it was important to end that part of the investigation and adding during a recent meeting with mueller's team, that the special counsel's office proposed this september 1st end date as a possibility for parts of the inquiry that do relate to the president. meanwhile, you did mention the president's twitter calling for the d.o.j. to investigate if there was any infiltration or surveillance of his campaign. and now the department of justice is responding saying it will use its own inspector general to take a at those questions. the deputy attorney general rod rosenstein saying, quote, if anyone did infiltrate or surveil

participants in the presidential campaign for inappropriate purposes, we need to know about it and take appropriate action. now, we have democrats here on capitol hill responding for one house democratic nancy pelosi for months donald trump has insult and had tried to discredit the men and women at fbi and d.o.j. in self-serving attempts to distract from the trump-russia scandal. his conspiratorial fantasies must not be allowed to undermine the proper function of our justice system. frances? >> all right, susan, thank you. mourners in the community of santa fe texas turning to faith sunday to remember the ten people gunned down at a local high school. at one church the pastor read the names of each victim as the congregation came together in a circle to pray. also the first funeral for 17-year-old sabika sheikh as her mother was in tears as she gathered with mourners at a houston area mosque.

>> i always told her she had a warrior's heart. she wanted to be a business woman and impact the world. i think she has done that. >> governor greg abbott also paid his respects. he and his wife laid flowers to honor the victims. he's calling for a statewide moment of silence at 10:00 a.m. central this morning. nbc's gabe gutierrez is in santa fe with more. gabe, good morning. >> reporter: frances, the survivor tells us the gunman taunted his victims singing another one bites the dust between shots. authorities have not confirmed the motive but we are learning more about possible warning signs. shayna fischer was among the first students killed in friday's rampage. her mother tells cbs station khou the 16-year-old for months rejected the advances of alleged shooter dimitrios pagourtzis. >> i think she knew beforehand because this guy kept harassing her about wanting to be with her like in a relationship.
