tonight. it is tuesday morning. and the warriors are back at it tonight. the dubs will face off against the rockets in game four of the playoffs. and you know who we're supporting around here. go, warriors. >> good morning, thanks for joining us, i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. of course we'll get to your traffic in just a moment. what can we expect today? >> it looks like a great day once again. we start out with clouds and it clears out with breezy winds and comfortable temperatures, here's a live look outside in san jose this morning as you get ready to step out. you're seeing some clouds. will still see them in the mix through about noon and upper 60 and low 70s today. it's going to be a very nice and comfortable day. we'll talk about the rest of the

week and slight chance of rain in the north bay. we'll talk about when that happens. as we head over to mike, highway 101 closed overnight. >> it has, over here, th is not my highway 101 shot anymore. things changed in the control over there in the traffic center. just reopening over in palo alto. over to the map, that's on the right side of the bay. it's northbound 101 that was closed overnight until a few minutes ago, reopening at university. of course they are working on the interchange and overcrossing and university and willow and that's why they have that going on. the rest of the bay move nicely. the closure has just cleared in the last couple of seconds. back to you. >> 4:31. developing, a hayward police officer is recovering after a chaotic incident. this was last night and it ended when the officer shot a suspect. this happened about 7:00 last nig night. so far police are not saying a lot about what led up to the

incident. those injuries to the officer are not life threatening. bob redell is digging deeper in a the top of the hour. live this is a cool story. a 93-year-old woman is in the hospital this morning, knocked to the ground during a purse snatching at sun valley mall in concord. attack broke her hip. "today in the bay's" terry mcsweeney has the search under way for her attackers. >> reporter: ann peterson has seen lots of things but nothing like this. a 63-year-old friend escorting peterson towards bank of america and suddenly someone from behind grabs both of their purses and races to the car and drives off leaving peterson on the ground with a broken hip. >> she was on the ground, couldn't get up. several bank employees came out to help her out. the suspect described 6'3", large build and bald with a goatee and possibly a pacific islander who helped police right before the crime.

>> he made the mistake of going inside the bank. when you're inside the bank, there's several surveillance cameras set up through there. we think we have a really good image of the suspect. >> his mom is a 45 year resident of concord and hospitalized after surgery for her broken hip. her 63-year-old escort is fine. >> that's crazy because you know, normally you don't hear that too much around if you're in concord, like a nice and very like friendly area. >> i'm depositing money at night and i'm the only one here. and everybody is like, you know, it's not like i can have security coming here to escort me. >> terry mcsweeney, "today in the bay." >> let's hope she recovers. a follow-up for you. a san francisco police officer did not have his body camera rolling when he fired at the suspect in a moving car. both actions are against department policy. they did release intense body camera video during a town hall meeting last night. take a look.

>> get out of the car! get out of the car! >> police say last friday, her shell hale drove his car towards an over and another officer fired twice at the car. no one was hit by bullet, please were trying to chase down hail after an alleged car burglary. >> we're a year into this and we haven't gotten it perfect yet. there are times they should have been on and wouldn't and disciplinary actions taken. >> we'll takescipdine action before it people start understanding it. you have to understand they are in the moment. >> the investigation is still ongoing. >> happening today, san jose leader s hear firsthand about a growing number of police officers being disciplined for misconduct. that's one of the findings in a year end report by san jose's independent police auditor. two officers lost their jobs due to misconduct last year.

but at the same time, citizen complaints are down nearly 25% from one year ago. they are also down nearly 40% from 2013. today's meeting happens at 1:30. kris sanchez will have more in the 5:00 hour. >> it is 4:35. a late night decision in palo alto will affect you and your family. new cell phone towers are on the way. giving the go ahead to install small verizon nodes. they are worry it will drive down home value and possible health risks from radiation. supporters say the city needs to upgrade lagging service. >> i also cannot work at home because i cannot get calls from work on my cell. >> we have rights to privacy and safety. these cell phone towers will not do that. >> verizon is paying for the installation in about 200 in rent for each pole. coming up here, tesla has

on monday's momentum. the dow closed above the 25,000 surged 295 points and ended at 25,913. the s&p 500 and nasdaq both broke two-day losing streaks yesterday. consumer reports gave tesla's model 3 an unfavorable review. the magazine would not recommend the vehicle reporting that its testers found quote, big flaws. one of them the model three breaks lower than a full sized pickup. despite the less than stellar review, they acknowledge the vehicle is one of the greatest tech products ever created. there's a chance tens of thousands of vegas casino workers will strike over stalled negotiations. a move that could leave more tha 30 resort properties without unionized bar keepers and housekeepers and keep las

cook. >> not swimming weather just yet. >> but good baseball weather. we'll have the giants home tonight and it's nice and cool out there as we normally get as those breezy winds start to kick up. here's a live look outside in san jose now as you get ready to step out the door. it's mostly cloudy, sunnyvale we'll be seeing clouds through about 8:00. upper 50s and then 63 degrees at 11:00. now normally for our high temperature, we're hitting the mid-70s and we won't quite make it there today but it's still going to be very comfortable. as we go look at our martinez forecast, it will be in the mid-50s and partly cloudy through about 7:00 and then clear skies the rest of the day as we make it in the upper 60s at lunchtime. our high temperatures in the south bay heading up to 72 degrees in morgan hill. and we'll be at 73 degrees in cupertino and for oakland 66 degrees. 73 in walnut creek.

56 degrees in half moon bay and 63 in san mateo. mission district today up to 61 and 72 today in santa rosa, point reyes at 57 with breezy winds. as you start out getting dressed, you do need sunglasses because it will be a bright and sunny day and light long sleeves will be comfortable, maybe a dress shirt or blouse will be comfortable for today. as we get a look at what's happening on satellite and radar, it's all clear now, we're all right starting to see those clouds rolling by the sierra and there could be more showers and thunderstorms redeveloping again today. kind of scattered activity and then it winds down as we go into the evening hours and then it bubbles right back up again for tomorrow. so still in the very active pattern for the sierra and then we're going to continue on with quiet weather. but as we head into thursday, there will be a weak system moving in that could bring in a slight chance of rain for the north bay, linger into early friday morning and then look at towards the end of the forecast,

do you see that? 90 degrees inland for early next week. we could have our first spike and really hot temperatures early next week. i'll be tracking that and mike, you're tracking the changes for palo alto. >> i am, those changes in temperature and looking at palo alto where i did have a ten minute delay. i apologize, that roadway had not completely opened. now it has. the break has cleared and university avenue has been your off ramp until a few minutes ago. there were about 15 minute delay picking up all of that construction over here to palo alto. we do still possibly see the sensor and delay towards the roadway with the red section here. this is recovering even as you saw that live shot towards university, a little slow just north of embarcadero and northbound 101. that's really the only issue for the bay as we look at speed sensors, a disabled vehicle reported somewhere around the maze. lanes are clear over there. that's a good flow of traffic. towards the san mateo bridge, westbound 92 has a good volume

of traffic and moving all the way at the flat section and incline. chp gave a wind advisory for altamont pass overnight and watch those gusty conditions coming over near grant line road and fremont looks great. the flag over here pretty calm. so no problem for wind by the truck scales. back to you. >> thanks, mike. >> 4:48. when you go out to eat, you expect the food to be safe but our investigative unit went undercover to discover how some food handlers could be putting you at risk for sear overillness. >> here's a preview of the investigation. >> reporter: it's about 85 degrees in this van. too warm for a car ride, definitely too warm to be storing your food because it could make you sick. we spent the past several weeks undercover and on surveillance watching raw meat and dairy and seafood sit for hours in unrefrigerated trucks and vanz before it ended up at local restaurants to be served to unsuspecting customers. >> we're wondering, is this a

judges ruled individual workers can be forced to settle issues with their bosses instead of class action lawsuits. the process is called arbitration. liberal justices say the ruling will hit low wage nonunion workers especially hard. we are seshlg watching closely for heated decisions over next few weeks, first the travel ban, justices are considering whether the ban focusing mostly on muslim countries is unconstitutional. next, two gerrymandering cases out of wisconsin and maryland. it means drawing political districts to benefit political parties. plus a challenge to california law requiring women's clinics to provide information about abortions. finally, the justices will also decide if colorado baker was discriminating against a gay couple by refusing to decrcreat cake for them. >> 4:50. you'll notice an updated sign the next time you go to sequoia national park. >> we have a picture from the 1930s when it first went up and

sunshine again today. a lot of clearing for the afternoon. here's a live look outside in palo alto this morning. visibility is all clear and we'll be in the upper 50s at 8:00 and you still see those clouds there through about noon with clearing today upper 60s for the afternoon. highs today heading in the low 70s inland, maybe upper 70s for spots like antioch and low 60s for san francisco and for the coast. we'll talk more about what's ahead for the week and mike still tracking what's happening in palo alto. >> i want to use the same shot you did. after a delay, a ten minute delay as far as picking up the closure at you have, we have seen traffic restoring back to the typical flow. the speed sensors are a little slow to recover but the live shot shows you no problem traveling north past university and willow, whether it was the overnight closure. we have a little remnant here on our speed sensors, everything is okay for the bay shore freeway and rest of the bay shows a nice smooth drive.
