i'm laura garcia. straight to mike inouye following traffic mess and familiar one in the south bay. >> a repeat report we could put on replay. we're not going to. traffic flows a little different. photographic flows and back-up i'm traffic, big issue in the south bay. this is our traffic alert. this is a repeat from last week. southbound 280 to 87, that connector closed by flooding. i want to quickly mention folks would take that 87 to san jose airport. this being before memorial day weekend. that's a concern. it would be for this stretch of folks. everybody else would take 880. that is the avenue you would go. in this area 880, 280 north to 880 north to get to san jose airport. consider that. meanwhile for what's actually going on, the reason why half of 28 is closed, send it to kris sanchez. kris, still following this flooding.
6:01 am
>> reporter: hi there. what you're going to see here to my right-hand side is chp officer pacing some of these vehicles because they have been going through this area a little too fast. that's where a chp officer will get in front of the traffic, try to slow it down. at this point we have two lanes still closed on 280. that hasn't changed. 87 connector north and southbound 87 has not changed. that is also still closed. what has changed, caltrans is out here on the scene. i've been trying to get somebody on the phone. chp tells me they do have several folks from caltrans out here looking at the problem. the pump house where this pump is housed, beyond there in the distance where you see the other chp vehicle right where the 87 connector is, there's a little concrete building, that's where the pump is. last week it appears the pump failed more than once and that led to the flooding here that we're seeing, similar to what we're seeing today. turned out to be a circuit breaker. a pretty easy fix once they got
