he was the king of tribeca. this morning, a criminalwe star. i )m laura garcia. a very good morning to. you we begin here in the bay area with break, i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. let's check in with mike. a big rig fire near the bridge. >> this is not the only thing. i overturned pineapple truck caught fire and major injuries to the driver and back-up. and that was a back-up from a few minutes ago and there is the overturned truck that was -- caught fire and that is what is causing eastbound 80 to be closed toward the cartineas bridge away from richmond and the bay we're talking about folks trying to get out of the east bay and up into the north bay. you're cut off before the back-up and i'm told this is

right near the pomona street of off-ramp and they think the ramp is over and traffic should be going but much better off to the venetian bridge which is 680 across to the east and highway 4 would be the access. we've seen the back-up over the last couple of minutes. we have closed t-- closed the freeway for the second time and there is another accident there. and so we'll track this up to the bridge and the venetian bridge into the north bay is your option. westbound, though, that compute is okay coming into the area out of sal an os. and the second issue is -- a near closure. 880 is closed here because of a truck crash there as well. we'll take a live shot from our comfortab -- to the camera and the video of the fire earlier. and we have gotten that fire under control and don't see it

on the live camera but that big rig here as well. two lanes are blocked. they've taken the trailer off the roadway and you see approaching just past 98 restricted to half of the freeway and the back-up is half a mile. so we're tracking these problems. and rest of the traffic flow is expected to be light, but this is a bad start. >> very rocky start for friday morning. in the meantime, let's hope that kari has an easier forecast. >> well we do have some spotty showers in parts of the bay area this morning. and that is what we'll be track throughout the day. looking at storm ranger, our mobile doppler radar shows all of that activity over the central valley. look at lightning east of i-5 and through sacramento. so as we zoom into what we're seeing closer to home, ukiah and also down to clear lake seeing light showers. and then most of the rain is very spotty. but as we get a closer look, we are going to see mostly cloudy

skies and at times some rain moving into parts of the peninsula as well as the north bay. so i'll keep an eye on this and take a look ahead to the rest of the day in a few minutes. >> >> other breaking news, you may have seen it in the nbc news special report, harvey winen hs. we just spoke with someone from new york city where weinstein is expected to face charges that he raped one woman and forced another to perform oral sex on him amid at least a hundred allegations from abuse against winestein and also under investigation for sex crimes in los angeles and london. and he has been accused of sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape. he claims all of the sex was consensual. back here at home. a follow up on the highway 280 flooding we were talking about yesterday. caltrans tells us they're

watching the area closely over the next several days. >> for a few weeks, the 280 flooded in san jose. you see it here. caltrans said the problem started back on may 16th when one of the two main pumps blew a fuse. yesterday morning the back-up pump blew a fuse as well. a volunteer from the conservation group said it is ground water that is slowing through the pumps. >> they just didn't anticipate that much water would come from this artisan well. >> they said the flooding is happening for years and he doesn't see it stopping any time soon. are you heading out? more than 5 million californians will head out. 40 million nationwide. news of the biggest travel numbers in a decade. the gas prices also higher. here in california, prices are 70 cents more than last year. gas buddy pat rike dehan tells us gas prices wo

but stocks came off the low of the session. there will be economic reports on durable goods and consumer sentiment. the dow closing down 25 points and the north dakota to 7424. a bug on t-mobile website let anyone access the personal details such as home address and account pin of any customer with just a phone number. t-mobile has since fixed flaw but it could have been exploited. t-mobile pulled the page offline a day after reported by security researchers in april and there is no evidence any customer information was accessed. and the internet is about to undergo a major overhaul. new data privacy rules go into effect in europe today. the gdpr or general data protection regulation is forcing thousands of companies big and small to change how they collect and handle people's personal information, even if they have no physical operation in europe. weapons are required to tell chufts how data is being used and consumers will get new

hit the road. but you are going to have some problems toward the sierra. look at lightning strikes. the bolt icon show where live lightning is happening from cloud to ground so this is going to really slow down your drive heading through sacramento and also up through the sierra. we are going to be tracking some spotty rain for the bay area. right now in ukiah, upper lake and clear lake, we have some light rain and then as we head down to the peninsula, we have rainfall rates around half moon bay at about .03 and so we have decent clip of rain and moving from south to north so spotty showers getting ready to approach. saratoga over the lexington hill and then seeing showers and rotating area of low pressure that could almost see it spinning as we get a look at motion of the rain that will be moving through. so we'll have some spotty showers but once again the bulk of the heavier rain will be over

parts of the sacramento valley and just east of i-5 as we go throughout the day. as we go into this afternoon, still some rain chances with some spotty showers and then we'll have one last shower moving through during the overnight hours before it all clears out for the weekend. rain totals really not that much. we're looking at up to a tenth of an inch in santa rosa. but elsewhere, just measuring about a trace amount. our high temperature today will be heading into the mid-60s for the inland areas and then upper 50s for the coast. overall a lot of clouds and here are the temperatures to see rain across the midwest and the south. looking at a lot of rain for florida as well. with some tropical activity. as we look as our forecast for the weekend. we are going to be heating up after today. it is going to be 75 and sunny tomorrow. 84 inland on sunday. and memorial day up to 90 degrees. and then it gradually comes down

from there. san francisco and also in for a warm-up after a few scattered showers today. and mike, you were saying, there are two major closures on the road. >> that is right. one was a complete closure until just seconds ago. you see that big rig moving across the screen and the big tow truck. i'll step into the shot and the photographer shows the closure near the pomona street off-ramp and one lane open. and there is the big rig tow truck and the and it is a pineapple hauling truck and that is what overturned but major injuries to the driver who has been take and way. they continue to try to clear the lanes as we look at your map. this is eastbound 80 approaching pox -- approaching pomona and toward crockett boulevard and along the long route or they wait because one lane just opened seconds ago as you are heading up toward the karkinez

bridge and the skyway is closed and you cannot get into eastbound 80 from skyway but you can enter over there at pomona, the last entrance before the carquinez bridge. and then at the venetian bridge, northbound 680 is clear if that is your route toward the north bay and that is fine out of the east bay. the maze is not the problem. other problem is 880 noubd also has close -- northbound is also closed and north around 98 or heggenberger we had another crash involving a truck and a -- and a truck fire there as well. a live look from our coliseum camera shows you just before that b.a.r.t. overcrossing where the b.a.r.t. train goes over to the airport and two lanes block up and a back-up for a half mile and so that is a slower drive as well. north 880 and eastbound 80 are the pro major problems this

morning. but the rest of the day is like this. very light, there is the golden gate bridge and here is that zipper truck just waiting to move the center divide and folks getting ready. and the friday before memorial day as we look at the san mateo bridge between 3:00 and 5:00 is the heaviest on the roadway so leave before 3:00 or hold out until after that rush. >> and be very patient out there as well. 4:51 now. the royals still realing after the president called off the meeting with kim jong-un. and now the trump administration is trying to figure that out. >> reporter: what's next for the u.s. and north korea? >> if and when kim jong-un chooses to engage in constructive dialogue and actions, i am waiting. >> reporter: the president said the door is still open to a nuclear summit. maybe even on june 12th as planned. >> i think president trump was right in walking away from a --

marcus has the day off. we have to start with you, mike. busy >> as the big rig tow truck arrives, the live scene. our photographer is at the scene. there is the big rig tow truck arriving and it is now trying to hook up. you see these guys in -- and in the orange over here, these are our caltrans crew. this big rig truck is trying to hook up to right there. that is a big rig trailer which was carrying pineapple. that is over on the side and it has to be cleared but one lane opened minutes ago. that is the better news. at least traffic is flowing, the bad news is after that crash, one person does have major injuries taken from the scene. as we look at your map. we're showing this near full closure getting over toward the bridge is constricting traffic and backing up out of rodeo into crockett. and skyway cannot access 880 but pomona can but over toward the smaller street you can get on to
