will be at the nice comfortable 70 degrees in san francisco. i'll show you much cooler temperatures in the forecast coming up in a few minutes and mike, you're scanning all of the reports. >> all of them. we're looking at the golden gate report for chp, no incidents reported on the fre ways and no slowing beside the little bit in altamont. gilroy, reports from chp, no problems for 101 or 17. that's a great drive and view from the south bay to the north bay. there's san rafael southbound to the curve at terra linda. back to you. >> breaking internationally overnight, a deadly shooting in belgium, a gunman killed three people, two of them police officers. it's happening in the belgium city of lease, you can see the police tape in the background. our photographer backed away from that scene. the video showing the aftermath, obviously worries about terrorism, one state broadcaster says it's the case though authorities will not confirm a

motive at this point. it happened near a cafe as we said, two officers have died and person in a passing car was also killed. local officials say the attacker disarmed police and used their own weapons against them. the gunman left the cafe, took a cleaning woman hostage in nearby school and officials eventually shot and killed that gunman. all of the kids at school were okay. >> at 5:01 on your tuesday morning, your neighborhood starbucks will be closed this afternoon. thousands of stores are shutting down so employees can attend mandatory racial bias training it comes after video went viral of two black men being arrested at the philadelphia starbucks. "today in the bay's" pete suratos joins us with changes we could see at local starbucks. good morning, pete. >> good morning to you. the big plan by starbucks is to close thousands of locations for this racial training and we're standing in front of a starbucks in concord. just took a peek here.

this one will be closing around 2:00 p.m. so if you're going to the starbucks it will be closed as training takes place, not only here but thousands of locations across the country. now as far as specifics, they plan to close 8,000 locations this afternoon. training roughly 175,000 employees. they are going to take part in training that's going to include discussions addressing implicit bias and promoting conscious ininclusion and preventing discrimination. this was all triggered by an incident in april at the philadelphia starbucks. let's show that video that went viral when two 23-year-old black men were arrested at the starbucks after a white manager reportedly called police on them as they waited for a business associate without ordering anything from the store. the two men eventually settled with the city of philadelphia for symbolic one dollar each and promise to set up a $200,000 fund for young entrepreneurs.

the two men also did reach an undisclosed financial settlement with starbucks as well. as this training takes place, starbucks could lose as much as $12 million nationwide as a result of this closure. we're live in concord, pete suratos, "today in the bay.." >> developing news out of washington, a recently canceled summit could actually still happen. u.s. negotiators are trying to iron out the details right now. this morning president trump confirmed a top north korean official is headed to new york to talk about the summit. susan mcguinness is live with what happens next. good morning. >> good morning, north korean official diplomat coming to the united states to new york city, first time in more than 20 years that someone of this level has come to the united states. one more indication that this talk -- this summit with north korea may actually happen but many here are skeptical that even if there is a summit there may not be a deal.

>> a high level north korean official left pyongyang and headed to new york to talk about a summit between president trump and north korean leader kim jong-un. the president is optimistic that talks will happen, tweeting this morning, meetings are currently taking place concerning summit. a u.s. teamworked over the weekend with north korean official to revive a june 12th summit. a date the president canceled days ago but now intent on keeping. experts are guardedly optimistic. >> this is seven years in the making and getting to a solution will not happen with a one day meeting. >> exceskeptics see the two rem unresolved, whether kim would give up nuclear ambition and what the u.s. would offer in return. some lawmakers doubt kim jong-un's intentions. >> i have concerns that the north koreans are not serious when they talk about denuclearization.

suspect mario woods of the bay view school district. arm with a knife at the time. the second incident also involved a man police say had a knife in the mission. last thursday the district attorney announced he would not press charges against those officers. the opponents will gather at noon at the hall of justice. >> at 5:06. imagine driving down the street and seeing this, this dash cam video, can you make it out there? the driver of a black sedan nearly hitting a silver suv and does a lot of doughnuts. you can see it there. this is a very busy intersection. happened about 3:30 yesterday afternoon. police throughout the bay area trying to crack down on driving like this. you can seek a lot of skid marks when you're driving around. last fall officers impounded several cars following an organized side show that happened in san jose. very dangerous. 5:06. have you noticed a difference on

b.a.r.t.? a lot of passengers are talking about b.a.r.t.'s new push to clear out homeless and drug users. b.a.r.t. recently vowed to ramp up efforts to keep loiters out of the san francisco station. it follows a lot of recent criticism on social media. critics say too many people are ending up passed out in hallways and on trains. imagine walking through that. we spoke with riders who certainly noticed a difference. >> yes, i feel like they've been definitely keeping it cleaner and the work he's been having thus far, they've been doing a great job. >> do feel a lot more comfortable knowing it's clean, right? if not, you don't feel very safe. >> b.a.r.t.'s staff and even police are telling loiters to move along. b.a.r.t. vows to sweep through every half hour. >> happening today, a coastguard crew will dock in san diego to unload the massive haul of drugs

seized on high seas, one of two recent busts in international waters off central america. the crew sees more than 2500 tons of cocaine in two busts. they also arrested six suspected smugglers, straight value of the drugs is $78 million. developing right now, tropical storm alberto downgraded but still causing damage as it roars through the deep south. intense weather now blames the death of a tv reporter and photographer. they died when a tree toppled on their news truck yesterday north carolina. the fire chief said he had just spoken to them personally. >> i had done an interview with mr. mccormick 10 minutes before the call. we talked you about how he wanted us to stay safe. >> alberto now moving through alabama appears to be headed to tennessee and kentucky. . >> we're waking up to much

quieter area around the bay area but starting out fairly warm for us with low 60s as you step out the door. the out the door temperature in livermore, 61 degrees and it's 57 now in oakland and as we get a live look outside. a clear sunrise will be under way as we look outside in san jose and go to santa clara, 62 degrees at 7:00. 82 degrees at noon. and we continue to go up from there as we head in the upper 80s and few spots in the low 90s for today but it will be cooling off and we'll have more on that and our temperature trend in palo alto coming you. mike has a traffic alert in the tri-valley. >> a light traffic flow around most of the bay and that's what we expect nor the morning commute. we have this problem at the dublin interchange. that's the problem, bad place, bad time. west 580 at 680, two right lanes are blocked by a crash. chp still getting on scene. we'll find out details on severity hopefully in the next few minutes but you do see from the dublin camera towards the

it's 5:13, we're about 30 minutes away from sunrise. as we look outside in palo alto, we will start out with 60s around the bay area. a lot of sunshine today and it's going to be another warm one. we'll be at 77 degrees at 1:00 today and palo alto as temperatures continue to go up a

consumer confidence. nissan may cut production in north america by as much as 20% as it struggles with falling profits here in the united states, its biggest market. cuts reportedly are already underway at two u.s. plants and three in mexico but nissan does not anticipate laying off workers or shutting down assembly lines completely. most of nissan's sales have involved heavy discounts and inseni incentives eating into the profit margins. pandora is launching a premium plan that gives as many as six user s unlimited music streamin, some of the 80 million who listen free with ads, wants them to switch to paid subscribers. it matches those from spotify and apple music. guys? >> i don't mind ads. >> they pay our bills -- more

warm weather to tell you about. look at the photo showing the funnel cloud in utah, the strawberry reservoir. t national weather service says a tornado did touch down. no reports of damage or injury. >> quite the dicfferent scenari in the bay area. >> we didn't break records but it was the hottest day so far. >> the records were like 100 degrees so i'm glad we didn't set any records. but we were late with our highs in the 90s compared to where we normally start to see those temperatures reaching in the 90s inland and it's going to be another warm day as we start out with a live look in oakland this morning. a clear sunrise and not a cloud anywhere in sight. the 7-day forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen. as we check out our forecast for the a's game later on this evening at the coliseum, we'll be at 63 degrees. by then it does cool down quite a bit and it's going to be breezy and staying clear as we head into tonight. as we start out this morning in

cupertino, upper 60s to the upper 70s within a couple of hours and then mid-80s. our temperatures will spike very quickly into early afternoon and start to come down once we get breezy winds picking up as we go into this evening. we're going to reach in the upper 80s in east san jose, up to 89 in gilroy and yesterday we were in the mid-90s there. not as hot but still very warm up to 90 in antioch and livermore. 65 in half moon bay and 72 today in san mateo. san francisco also reaching low 70s in the mission district. outer sunset up to 65b 85 in sa novato, we're looking at the high there of 80 degrees for today. if you're planning to make it a beach day if you can, it's going to be a beautiful it will still be cool to start with mid-50s and then later on this morning into early

afternoon, reefaching in the lo 70s and our seven-day forecast starts to come down by tomorrow. 73 degrees, that's all for the high. if you like the warmer weather, take it all in today. although it will be warming up a few more degrees in time for the weekend, for saturday and sunday we're back in the low to mid-80s inland. san francisco 70 today but it's going to be windy, much cooler, the morning clouds and fog will return and then for the weekend we're going to head back up to 70 degrees on saturday. heading over to mike, you've been tracking a lot of issues, one major issue. >> one major crash, kari, thank you for reminding folks westbound 580 where the end point of the slowing, start of the slowing i should say. looking at the map, right here, our camera is you're bogging down towards the dublin interchange. the right two lanes and actually right three lanes are blocked because of fire crew just arrived on scene to assist with any injuries from this crash.

five vehicles from what i'm told are involved at the dublin interchange, that boggs you down when things are building. no major injuries reported just yet, the chp taking care of the scene and fire crew will notify us of anything they have to say. the south bay peninsula, they are all clear, the rest of the bay looks great. minor crash at the bay bridge did result in some slowing but looks like things are clearing for lanes, back to your morning commute. b.a.r.t. does have one report that came in of a delay on a pitsburg line that may be a factor but contra costa is great on the roads but the rail may be slightly delayed for san francisco. no other problems for the rail industry, there's the backup at the bay bridge. they may have metering lights turned on any second because of that build and slowing coming up the incline and from metering lights back. here's a south bay -- light flow of traffic, no major problems through silicon valley. there's fremont, a little blur

school in texas will return to class for the first time since losing ten of their fellow classmates and teachers. students at santa fe will return to class for first time since losing ten of fellow classmates and teachers weeks after a gunman killed eight students and two teachers. 13 other people were also injured. security will be tight as counselors will be on hand to greet those students when they return. teachers and staff members return to work last wednesday. the alleged gunman, 17-year-old student is charged with capital murder. it is 5:24. a fremont college may lose its accreditation, they are under scrutiny because of a high number of foreign students receive u.s. work permits. mercury news is reporting the acrediting agency for northwestern university is asking for detailed information about students and the employer

good morni a very good tuesday morning. let's look outside as we approach 5:30. live cameras throughout the bay area. and a crew out there right now. good morning to you, thanks so much for joining us, hope you had a great weekend. i'm laura garcia. >> marcus washington continuing his weekend and avoiding a lot of the -- >> it's going to be hot. yesterday was just a taste of what today will be like once again as we start out with clear skies taking a live look outside in san jose as the sun rises, we'll see another clear day and quickly warming temperatures up to 78 degrees at 11:00 and then look at that, mid-80s by early afternoon. then it will be cooling off. look how much cooler it will be tomorrow for the inland area, 73 degrees and then warming up a few more degrees in time for the weekend.

saturday will be back up to 84 degrees and fraisco 70 today and we'll be back at 70 on saturday. we'll talk all about the weekend forecast and about seven minutes mike still has that traffic alert for the tri valley. >> we're looking at dublin, a big jam towards dublin starting before you get to the camera hits the roadway. we're showing the rest of the bay shows an easy drive. this is the single worst spot but how bad is it. it's now 37 minutes from grant line road to the dublin interchange. previously at that time no issues and now we see traffic coming up and some folks bailing torts t towards the street. more traffic on surface streets, back to you. >> we're watching developing news in the south bay. a crash in san jose leaves at least five people hurt this morning. we're learningmy details about the people arrested. >> kris sanchez joins us with more on what happened.

>> reporter: san jose police just confirmed that the vehicle that triggered that really violent chain reaction crash was driven by a 13 year old person. police tell us that they were not chasing what they believe to be a stolen car at the time when it smashed in a white ford head on before crashing in a light pole on the sidewalk. the 13-year-old driver was fleed and then taken into custody. another 13-year-old victim is in the hospital with life threatening injuries and several other teens are also hurt. this crash happened in front of bridges academy, a charter school. the franklin-mckinley school district, we did swing by that scene earlier this morning. it is all clear. there should be no impact to drop off this morning, but just yesterday bob redell had a crime report from the santa clara's district attorney's office indicating a spike of juvenile crime and in the spike was a 51%

rise in auto theft by juveniles. so this crash last night is likely going to contribute to the next report. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> thank you, kris. >> 5:32. new this morning, if you're a parent you might be outraged by this story. even if you're not a parent. a video game is about to be released depicting a school shooting with a player acting as a gunman ambushing classrooms. bob re-dell is looking at the game and obvious backlash it's facing right now. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning, the game is called active shooter and it's being branded as a s.w.a.t. simulator, you can either play the role of law enforcement responding to a school shooting or you can play the role of the shooter himself and roem the hallways of the campus and pick out civilian targets and shoot them and even shoot the responding law enforcement officers who are responding to your reign of terror. the game does come with a disclaimer, please do not take any of this seriously, only

meant to be a simulation and nothing else. if you feel like hurting someone or people around you, please seek help from local psychiatrists or call 911. a company called after individual plans to sell it on this teen videogame marketplace, not sold for consoles like xbox and playstation. parents of the students shot and killed in parkland, florida, are outraged and demanding it not be released. >> we're trying to prevent this from happening again and they are encouraging it. and it is despicable and vile. >> more than 37,000 people signed an online petition to stop the game's release. in a blog post. the publisher has acknowledge and i'm quoeltiting here. i have more than likely remove the shooter's role from this

game. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> happening today. this story probably shocked you u. the man who confessed to robbing and injuring an elderly woman is expected in court. you may recall this exclusive bay area jailhouse interview last week, ottohal feeg gi said he was sorry for knocking down 93-year-old ann peterson while stealing her purse. she broke her hip and now recovering. he confessed to other robberies as well. an oakland animal abuse case is expanding and this morning an alameda pet store is willing to pay for information to catch an abuser. we first brought you this story over weekend. two puppies were found abandoned and hurt and yesterday a third injured puppy found in a pile of garbage of the two of the puppies have broken jaws and one missing a paw. animal service workers are

70s. we'll be in the low 70s for the inland areas and this is the kind of weather we'll have for a couple of days then going back weekend so you can make plans for the beach. for the coast it's going to be 70 in san francisco on saturday. heading back over to mike, you have an update on the traffic alert. >> we're looking at one major slowdown, everything else looking great. the bay bridge has metering lights on. here's a major slowdown we're talking about, west 580 and 680. you see red to orange. orange is a better seed as far as the sensors go and we cleared all but one lane now. one lane blocked west 580 jammed towards the dublin interchange. and that is a big problem. we'll look at how much of a delay on our waze system, that is the one spot from the heavy traffic and talking about a 14 minutes for a 3.3 miles. that's about ten possibly 12 minutes longer than you
