>> reporter: good morning, sheinelle. after heated rhetoric and decades of distrust, incredible diplomacy at the white house on friday as they open the doors to the top north korean official who was at the center of the regime's hostile acts over the years. president trump said he will go to singapore for the summit with kim jong-un, he expects more personal meetings are likely. inside the oval office on friday, personal diplomacy delivered in the giant-sized letter from north korea. presented during a 90-minute visit to the white house by the senior envoy for kim jong-un. >> would you like to see what was in the letter? >> reporter: president trumpes courtko -- donald trump escorted kim yong-chol out to waiting cameras along with secretary of state mike pompeo. a clear sign the president productive. >> i think it is a getting to know you meeting plus.

>> i'm not sure. the president is an ineffective negotiator up to singapore. he caved not once, but twice in accepting the invitation and putting the north korean leader on the same stage and on the north lawn, the president said the era of maximum pressure is over. he doesn't want to talk about military exercises or sanctions. he wants to take the pressure off and give concession to the north koreans before they have done anything about the nuclear weapons. >> jeremy, as in kelly's piece, donald trump provoked anger with u.s. allies. what kind of message does this send? >> it is an upside down foreign policy, sheinelle. we have here basically invitations to our adversaries and hardest regimes and they are standing side by side in the oval office. and closest allies, those who

fought next to our soldiers, you are saying you are a national security threat. it is a mixed message to the adversaries and allies. >> jeremy, we expect to have the release of the inspector general report on james comey, the former head of the fbi. president trump, according to "the washington post" telling close aides he would like to see comey charged, arrested. how real is the possibility that the president will use release of the report to continue to try to legitimize the investigation and law enforcement as well? >> this shows that the clinton e-mail investigation was botched. that was why i fired comey. nobody believes the president fired comey to defend hillary clinton. the president admitted to lester holt that the reason he fired comey was to take the heat off the russia investigation. >> jeremy, thank you. now to a developing story this morning in massachusetts where a grizzlie grisly scene l

murderer in his tracks. we have morgan radford with more. >> reporter: as police continue to surround the areas, they are ing, a community bodies will be stunned as police in springfield continue to search for clues. >> we will be here for days, if not longer. >> reporter: after three dead bodies are found in and around the home of 40-year-old stewart w weldon. weldon arrested sunday after a car chase with police when they tried to pull him over for a broken taillight. >> i saw 9 or 12 cop cars. i thought something was going on. >> reporter: inside the vehicle, a distraught woman who thanked police for saving her. saying i did not think i would ever get away. she said he held her captive for a month and beat and sexually

assaulted her. >> he attacked her with a hammer is what we heard. >> reporter: when police searched the home, they found the bodies. today, they are scouring the property using ground penetrating radar. >> it is radar that can detect disturbed earth to indicate excavation or ground movement. >> reporter: police say everyone in the home, including one child, is safe. weldon is held on $1 million bail. he pleaded not guilty to kidnapping. leaving stunned neighbors dealing with answers. >> that could have been us. >> scary. morgan, how much do we know about the criminal history of the suspect? >> he has more than a dozen arrests. yesterday, when i was writing the story, it was difficult to figure out his actual age because he had at least five aliases.

battery on a police officer and assault with a deadly weapon. >> a checkered past. >> thank you. some other headlines on saturday morning, terror on a baseball diamond in maine overnight. a car raced on the field where young children were actually playing a game. after the car left the diamond, a 68-year-old man hit by the same vehicle pushing kids out of the way to safety. that man later died at hospital. the 52-year-old woman driving the car was charged with manslaughter. the lava flow in hawaii has destroyed 80 homes. lava from the two dozen fissures is running through populated areas. county officials have warned people to get out immediately or risk getting trapped. more than 300 seniors graduated from the santa fe,

i'm better at that. the heavy rain approaching minneapolis/st. paul. heavy rain and thunderstorms in iowa. torrential downpours and lots of cloul cloud-to-ground lightning. this could go into areas like st. louis and springfield and memphis, tennessee. little rock and most of arkansas under the gun for severe storms. 12 million people at risk. large hail and damaging winds is the big threat. we cannot rule out a tornado. that is an area we will keep an eye on as the frontal system continues to move through missouri and the midwest today. this is going to continue to push eastward through sunday and this area of low pressure is of concern for areas like maryland and delaware that have been hit hard with flooding rains recently. if the heavy downpours develop, that could lead to flash flooding potential. the ground is already wet. we will keep an eye on that

hours worked. it is the latest headache for the nfl with allegations of miscondu misconduct. nbc's maya rodriguez has more. >> reporter: the nfl's houston texans facing a lawsuit from former cheerleaders with unfair workplace conditions. >> what i did not know being a cheerleader was being exploited and not paid for my time. >> reporter: gloria allred filing the lawsuit on behalf of five former cheerleaders. >> they were harassed, intimidat intimidated. >> reporter: lawsuit filed in a houston federal court alleges the cheerleaders who made $7.25 an hour and forced to make a number of appearances and including out of state without compensation. a spokesperson for the texans said we are proud of the cheerleader program and evaluating procedures and continue to make adjustments and needed to make the program enjoyable for everyone.

this is just the latest claim by cheerleaders against the nfl. this week, "the new york times" detailed a practice by teams to use non cheering cheerleaders and dressed in similar outfits to mingle with fans. according to the report, they were paid minimum wage and some allege groped and harassed by fans while working. meanwhile, dennis green stepped down this week after the report last month found that several cheerleaders alleged they were ordered to act for sponsors in 2013 in a calendar shoot and told to pose topless in front of the guests although there was no nudity in the calendar. the spokesperson for the team said he did resign. it is our policy not to comment on personnel matters. back in houston, allred says, it may be time to roger goodell to
