county. >> wind whipped vegetation fires scorched 500 acres this week. deputy chief jim call is with alameda county fire along with the agencies that responded. the winds are not as strong now, but the temperatures are expected to reach the 90s this weekend in these areas. >> especially with the increased fee, the grasses are in a condition that they would burn. our personnel, we've declared wild land season in our fire department swob that increases the number of apparatus we send to an incident. >> there is not a red flag warning, but firefighters are prepared. cal fire says so far this year, statewide, there have been 200 more fires than this time last year. >> we really appreciate the fact that the city of antioch will come out and do the mowing behind our hill. >> east bay regional parks have been doing their part to reduce fire hazards, too, with crews removing vegetation in high risk
7:17 am
areas and goats grazing hillsides. >> the temperatures are rising. >> today is the first day i actually don't have long sleeves, something to cover me. >> christie smith, nbc bay area news. perfect time to check in with vianey arana for our weekend forecast. i just don't know what to do. i think i should stay at work because there's air-conditioning here. >> usually we complain about how it's cold in the studio. i think we appreciate it in the summer. talking about the 90s, you saw that fire danger. i know a lot of people are wondering what are we speccing this weekend? and i know the 90s are on the forecast, but there is a flipside to this. so thankfully, we're not tracking very strong gusty conditions. right now in.san jose, already 59 degrees and it's only 7:17 a.m. so definitely already warming up. now we're expecting quick warming temperatures, which
7:18 am
means we start in the 50s. we're already in the upper 50s. by midafternoon, we should be even warmer than that. now your 24-hour temperature change, check out san jose. 7 degrees warmer at this hour. san martin, 9 degrees warmer. and right now, the current temperatures across the bay area are fairley mild. san francisco, 59 degrees. concord, 61. livermore 57 and morgan hill is at about 56 degrees. mountain view is already at 60 degrees. and i want to talk about your climate highs for today because i know you're wonder whog ing w expecting to see the warmest temperatures. the interior valleys are in for some 90s on the map. san jose, predicted high of 90 degrees. morgan hill, 93 degrees. check out east bay temperatures, oakland, a high above 79 degrees. antioch, 79 degrees. concord, upper 90s at about 97 degrees. these are the areas that we're worried about when it comes to elevated fire danger because of relatively low humidity.
7:19 am
we have a ridge of high pressure. it's going to dry us out and warm us up. temperatures will remain fairley cool along the coast. if you're looking for a place to get away, this is your spot to do so. half moon bay topping out at about 60 degrees. daily city, 67. it will be warm in the city and san francisco expect to go hit highs in the 70s, but it will be breezy along the coast if you're heading out to the city today. i would say wear your sunscreen even though it's not going to be as hot as it is in the interior valley. >> record climate highs, simone na, 90 degrees. let's go ahead and get into that hot, high pressure. as i mentioned, we have that ridge of high pressure. that's sitting over the bay area. that's what is drying us out. but at least it's not very windy. the wind speeds will remain very calm. you can see santa rosa at about 9 miles per hour. not really a factor, but what is a factor is the low humidity inland. so this is relative humidity. when you look at areas like concord, 19%. livermore, 22, napa, 32%.
7:20 am
this gives you a good idea of making sure you are being responsible. a lot of people are going to go outside and enjoy the sunshine, light up some barbecues. but keep that in mind, anything your brush, dry brush could quickly turn into a difficult situation. if you're headings out to the filoli flower show, upper 80s about 4:00. great location. a lot of people are going be out there getting some really good instagram photos out of that. over the next seven days, this is what we're looking at. we're going to warm up weekend. stick to the 90s. more humidity expected for tomorrow. for now, back to can i era. >> it is 7:20. still ahead on "today in the bay." >> thank you so much. thank you so much for having all this available. >> their baseball gear was stolen and then their coach turned to an unlikely place for help. it's a story that will make you bay area proud.

7:24 am
thank you so much for having all this available. >> at least it was for eddie agustus. eddie is athletic director for richmond college prep. in early april, while his school was on spring break, thieves broke into a storage unit and stole everything they had. >> all our bats, our mitts, our balls, gone. >> eddie reached out for help to a friend who used to play professional baseball and he told him about these brothers. within a few weeks of eddie hearing their name, he was filling his car with much needed free gear. we, on the other hand, have known about jordan and matthew a bit longer. six years ago, we shared the story of two teenagers with a simple idea. collect used baseball gear from people who no longer needed it and give it to those who did.
7:25 am
they called it baseball buddies. >> it's just amazing to see how such a small idea we had to help the local community became what we're doing now. >> jordan and matthew regularly take in donations from around the bay area and the country and send them around the world. >> i think we've shipped probably like several tons worth of equipment throughout this -- throughout the seven, eight years that we've been doing this. >> it's been a lot. >> it's been a lot. >> a pick up order like this, though, is even more special for the brothers. knowing their work is helping someone in their backyard. and both can't wait to drive those 50 miles back to richmond to see their generosity take the field. >> jordan and matthew are not only heading to richmond to see the gear in action, they've offered to hold a clinic for the players, as well. garvin tom crass, nbc bay area

7:29 am
heelsburg. that's expected to stick around for the entire weekend thanks to a ridge of high pressure. it's clearing out the skies and it's warming up and drying us out. that's going to create kind of a concern for some fire danger out there. i want to show how quickly we're starting to warm up. it's 7:29. in san jose, we're at about 59 degrees. even though we are expecting the 90s, we're not expecting gusty conditions so that risk of fire danger will not play into the wind speeds. but we are still expecting relative low humidity so we still have to kind of look out for each other and make sure we are practicing responsibly lighting all of those grills or anything involving fire, for sure. >> especially when we're dealing with dry conditions. i'll talk more about what we're expecting coming up in the next 15 minutes. >> stay tuned for that. we have new details this morning in the case of the alleged golden state killer. court documents now reveal how investigators tracked down joseph deangelo. sacramento county sheriff's

california where a plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a city street. did you see that? this is surveillance video of the plane coming down and narrowly avoiding crashing into a pickup truck. this is in huntington beach. the truckdriver swerved out of the away just in time. police say the pilot reported engine problems five miles short of john wayne airport in santa ana. well, she managed to land her cessna 172 without hitting power lines or any traffic. isn't that incredible. no one was hurt and the plane was not damaged. back here in san francisco, the city is ready to party with some of the best and brightest in the world of comedy. cluster fest as it's called 2018 kicked off with standup music and satire. but all of this is unfolding while two big name comedians including roseanne are under fire for comments many say crossed the line. today in the bay's sam brock spoke to some comedians and asked them what they thought about this controversy.
7:35 am
>> while crews laid the groundwork for a colossal comedy event, it's not a bad time to take measure between the meaning of the art behind this outlet. >> comedy is this great mirror that we hold up to ourselves. and it's a reflection of what's going on in the world. >> and right now in the world, there's plenty of satire. >> why would he delete that? that's a solid tweet. >> and political division. as evidenced by this homage to the president's tweets. but recent racist comments from roseanne barr and misogynistic words from samantha bee ratcheted up the stakes. we asked a who's who for their take on crossing the line. >> i think it's hard to know where the line is and it's up to each person to try and figure that out. >> it's easy for people to say the line is the line and you're going to never cross the line. but the line is dictated by the level of outrage by the public and the sponsors. >> roy wood jr. is one with that
7:36 am
says context is everything. >> it's a tough argument with sam bee because that is a woman using a word traditionally used to slander women against another woman. so maybe that will make the line different for sam bee than it does roseanne. >> sam brock, nbc bay area news. still ahead on today in the bay, the odd reason a giants star had to leave last night's game early. and the latest on the warriors and klay thompson's injury heading into game two.
