it's a mostly clear start. we've seen clouds near the coast. it will be at times partly to mostly cloudy. heading out 55 san jose, palo alto and livermore. 54 in oakland and 57 now in san francisco. heading out to some of those hiking trails in the east bay, going to the park, we will have clouds to start and it's going to be 53 at 7:00. by 10:00 it's going to start to feel much nicer. skies will be clearing and it will be comfortably warm today with a high reaching into the mid-70s in parts of the east bay. as we go to the south bay, it will be that warm. gilroy up to 74, 68 in milpitas, also 65 in hayward. in concord look for a high of 72 degrees and some upper 60s and 67 today in palo alto. san francisco is still going to be cool and windy but we will get some clearing today. check out those winds coming from the west at 20 miles per

hour and in sonoma today a very nice 73 degrees. now it's going to be windy once again. let's check out the wind speed forecast coming in from the west to northwest. in san francisco in the middle of the day, the time line at 5:00, winds coming in at about 21 miles per hour. it will also be windy through the delta and parts of east bay with wind speeds at 15 to 20 miles an hour. as you make plans for the weekend, the san mateo county fair kicks off this saturday and it will be in the upper 60s during the middle of the afternoon dropping back into the upper 50s late at night. so let me know what you're doing this weekend. i'm on facebook and twitter and we'll talk about that whole weekend forecast coming up in less than 20 minutes if you can stick around. here is a look at that weekend forecast for inland areas. it is still going to be nice and warm but turning hot early next week. upper 90s by tuesday. san francisco in the low 70s. mike, you're showing only a couple of spots. >> that's right, kari. i'm concerned about one spot 580

eastbound over there out of piedmont hills area. we do have a crash reported and it may have a car in the lane. i'll track that. it's away from the bay bridge. all the other sensors look green except for here in palo alto. southbound 101 continues. the reason i didn't catch that truck when i moved the cameras because the truck stopped there. look at that on the southbound side flashing lights, two lanes blocked as you pass by university. see that truck here, the one i'm pointing to, slowly moving back picking up cones. south of that lanes loosen up and they all open. should be back up to willow over the next 10 minutes. we will track that that's the only slow spot on the peninsula 101 there. across golden gate bridge easy drive as the sun comes up. look at that beautiful view if you're headed to the north bay you have that to greet you as well. over here in oakland nice smooth drive southbound a good volume past coliseum but so does the northbound side. i think it's finally died down over oracle arena.

5:25 right now, to this bizarre story of road rage. this is happening, something a lot of people are talking about this morning. take a look at it. cell phone video showing the driver of the white chevy trail blazer jose alvarez repeatedly ramming into the parked honda suv eventually pushing that into the intersection. you see him jumping on top of that car. the thing about it is no one was in t in there, he didn't stop with crv. he was jumping on it, kicking out windows. witnesses say it looked like something out of a movie. >> seemed really upset. there's a couple of moments where he bends over and started hitting his head.

"today in the bay's" bob redell live, to be clear, that threat is over. >> reporter: that's right, marcus. still smell the fire in the air but fog to be worried about. within the past hour or so, fire in contra costa county lift thad health advisory saying it's okay to breathe normally. come back outside, reopen windows and doors after a fire burned through cars there at the a-1 auto recyclers along pittsburgh antioch highway. the fire started around 5:30 last night possibly with a candle in a tent in a nearby homeless encampment according to

new this morning, newark police are looking for this woman here. she was carrying a bottle, a molotov cocktail or some kind of explosive. she tried to set a preschool on fire over the weekend. molotov cocktail failed to light, then she threw the bottle through the glass front door. investigators think she may be connected to a fire at a union city preschool that same weekend. new gruesome details emerging in a murder case in the mission district. police identified the woman whose body was found dismembered. her name is 61-year-old margaret rose mamer. officers found her body parts early this week in a storage bin under the apartment apartment where she rented a room from 47-year-old lisa gonzalez. prosecutors claim gonzalez used a hacksaw in the crime. neighbors say the two women kept mostly to themselves. >> it's unbelievable. you don't think of these things

the driver left the van running so the dogs could have air conditioning. when he came out, the van was gone. they are looking for this man, the surveillance camera captured him. the dogs belong to differ people. as you can imagine, they are very worried. a transit driver arrested for bringing a loaded gun on his route. he's expected in court. he told investigators he carried a pistol because he feared for his safety. elves arrested at b.a.r.t. in san leandro. he e-mailed his supervisors telling them he was bringing the gun to work. our investigative unreported before about bus drivers being attacked behind the wheel. watch those stories on nbcbayarea.com. we could get an update on plans to electrify caltrain track. we've covered this story for years now and the bay area portion is part of what leaders say will eventually be the

bullet train linking san francisco to l.a. live look at the dumb bart bridge, one impacted by regional measure 3 just passed by voters. the measure approved in seven out of nine bay area counties on tuesday. the measure raises bridge tolls by $3 over the next two years. today water transportation leaders will discuss that measure in san francisco. happening today, house republicans will work on an immigration compromise. that meeting comes as illegal border crossings are going up. more than 50,000 people arrested last month. the third month in a row arrests have topped 50,000. president trump not happy about it. he has criticized homeland security secretary. quarter to 6:00, meantime federal judge said tearing families apart at the borders are in his words brutal. >> scott mcgrew, he's leading an appeal to go forward in court. >> reporter: yes it is.

in concord 72, napa 75. it's still going to be cool and windy in san francisco but some clearing will happen later today. not so much half moon bay. 72 the high, palo alto up to 67. san jose reaching 71 degrees. as you're starting out this morning, you get a look out the window, it is cloudy in the south bay. grab a hat, especially if you have to deal with those gusty winds, light long sleeves will keep you comfortable today as we reach into the upper 60s. then the rodeo will be kicking off this weekend. tonight you'll be able to get a preview at robertson park and it will be in the upper 60s. sunshine and cooling down nicely as we head into tonight. our forecast over the next several days, we go from 74 today to 84 tomorrow and we'll come back down a few degrees on saturday before those temperatures really ramp up. it will be hot next week, highs in the mid to upper 90s inland and san francisco.
