>> reporter: president trump and kim jong-un are at respective hotels tuesday's summit. they arrived here in singapore within a few hours of one another. kim jong-un went after a couple of hours at his hotel to meet singapore's prime minister. he thanked him and said the world is watching this summit. president trump will leave his hotel just for a short period tomorrow also to meet singapore's proime minister. apart from that, we think they will be in their hotels preparing for the summ w preparn the plane from canada. they are just a few blocks from one another, a three-minute drive. they have never been so close literally and they have in a way never been so close politically. they are both hoping this summit will be a success and will lead to a deal. perhaps on nuclear weapons.

>> reporter: that tribute is under way here at this buddhist church in san jose. people arriving here late this afternoon told me they will always remember jimmie's contribution to preserving history in our area. he was a car ppentecarpenter. he spent time in a japanese internment camp during world war ii and was committed to sharing his experience with students. especially what went through at the internmentheart. any time anybody needed something, they would ask him if he could help out. he would, of course, help out. he touched a lot of people. that's the reason why he's got so many people here. >> reporter: the emperor of japan honored jimmie for his service to the japan town community of san jose. he was also known for his work helping eagle scouts. he died last month at the age of

95. late this afternoon, people are paying tribute to him with many speeches and also a few performances. his granddaughter will deliver the eulogy. >> thank you so much. tonight marks the 17th anniversary of a young woman's killing in palo alto. police are reminding everyone about the cold case. the department tweeted this video today and urged anyone who knows the truth about that night to come forward. she was celebrating her 21st birthday when someone shot her in the head. dozens of people witnessed the shooting. 17 years later, police have yet to arrest a suspect. a $100,000 reward is still being offered for information that leads to an arrest. still ahead, it's becoming more and more common at the border, immigration activists taking a stand against family

warmer. now let's flip this towards tuesday. the high temperatures tomorrow will pass that at noon on tuesday. keep in mind, warriors victory parade in those hours. look at the 3:00 temperatures. 90s inland. the parade forecast, we will see temperatures into the 80s. take extra water and, again, th oakland. here is the culprit for the big warm-up. high pressure reaching peak intensity now it looks like tuesday into wednesday. it looks like monday, tuesday and wednesday, three days where we could see 90s inland. tuesday and wednesday are the hottest days. then we get relief. low pressure drops in. that will trigger the sea breeze. the pattern, the ridge of high pressure to the west and low pressure to the east, similar to what we are seeing now. we will get 80s next weekend as things shape up. not too hot as we get into next weekend. keep an eye on this high pressure. models out to ten days, try to

first place since tuesday. we aret the department of elections tonight with the latest. how many ballots left to go? >> reporter: there's still probably a little more than 25,000 ballots left to be counted. as of the batch released this afternoon, right now, london is ahead of mark byntioned, there 25,000 votes to be counted. that includes some provisional ballots that are going to take some more time to get through. that's because the elections workers have to get into those little packets and they have to verify things like signatures to make sure they match the signature cards. they have to go through and manually sort these. it will take longer to get through this last batch of ballots. judging by how close the race has been, there's a chance this office will not be decided for
