yesterday. i'll have a look at what's ahead as tomorrow we reach the peak of that heat and then it comes down. mike, you're already tracking a crash in san rafael. >> it just cleared from the roadway, i had an icon 101 southbound before the 580 split. that's great. for north bay moves at speed now. over here coming across the carquinez bridge, smooth through contra costa county. couple of cones after overnight construction work. i'll track the report on chp. this also reported 680 at king road, no slowing on the sensors but i did see flashing lights heading across this area towards 680 and king where there's a roadside fire reported. we're tracking newsroom. on this live camera as i swept it around. back to you. >> we have breaking news to tell you about. this is out of orlando, florida, where four children are being held hostage. this is inside of an apartment complex you see right here. this all started late last night and continues at this hour.

we're being told that the kids . also, an officer was shot. investigators say that this all started as a domestic disturbance and police say that injured officer just got out of surgery and those injuries are serious and significant and being told that that is the hospital that you see right there, that building. the negotiations with that shooter are underway. we will continue to follow this breaking news and bring you the latest as soon as it comes in right here on "today in the bay." 4:32, breaking news here at home as well. you just have to hear the story. san jose police officer is in the hospital after a series of odd events. the air wn't even in a car crash. >> bob redell is live in san jose at the police headquarters there and bob, actually involved in the crash ks correct? >> reporter: correct.

it appears there was some sort of malfunction. this happened while the officer was par in her squad car at the san jose state north garage. if you're not familiar this is the downtown area, san fernando and 9th completing paperwork when it appears that two air bags deployed. you can see in the video it appears it was the passenger and driver's side air bags, the ones who are actually on the side over the windows that went off. it does not appear the one in the steering wheel or dashboard. but there were no cars park the nearby or any indication that the car collided with another v. she was taken to the hospital and our understanding she was taken to the hospital as reporting live outside san jose police headquarters bob redell, "today in the bay." >> good news she's going to be okay. thanks for the update, bob. >> a live look in singapore where in just a little more than 12 hours, the long talked about summit between president trump and north korean leerd kim jong-un is supposed to get under

way. president trump arrived in singapore yesterday and last night met with singapore's prime minister. kim jong-un is already there as well and just about two hours ago secretary of state mike pompeo talked about what's at stake here. >> north korea has preef husbvi confirmed the williness to denuclearize and we're eager to see if the words prove sincere. the fact the two leaders are sitting down face to face is a sign of enormous potential to accomplish something that will immensely benefit both of the peoples and entire world. >> looking live at singapore, it is a little after 7:30 on monday night. blain alexander is there. we'll have a live report coming up in a half hour. >> it's a story you have to hear. this is a violentidnapping that leads to a chase across the bay bridge and ends with fiery deadly crash. >> san francisco police are still trying to piece together the details in this wild story which unfolded yesterday afternoon.

"today in the bay's" sergio quintana wraps up what we know at this point. >> reporter: this is cell phone video shot from across the street. you can see the san francisco police officer run overo fire . he heard the crash then started shooting video from his window. >> when the car was burning more, she said you know what, we need to take the people out and help them out then started panicking and yelled help, bystanders to help her out. >> you can hear the officer yelling as she tries to extinguish the fire. >> oh, my god! >> you can see bystanders and other arriving officers pulling the driver from the car. on the ground, more arriving officers trying to put out the fire but emergency crews were not able to get to the passenger scene. pulled from the car was quickly handcuffed and police say he and the woman who did not survive the crash tried kidnapping someone in san francisco.

largely shrugging off news from the g-7 summit this weekend where president trump raised fresh fears of a trade war with allies. investors are focusing on the summit with kim jong-un later today in singapore. the dow rose to 25,316 and had the best week in three months. nasdaq closing up. air bnb let's hosts provide emergency housing after a disaster. homeowners can let evacuees find a place to stay on short notice for free. now they'll be allowed to lift properes ahead of a disaster and help streamline the response those in need don't have to wait for a host to come forward in an emergency situation. if you still haven't filed your federal income taxes and owe money, a big taxpayers who missed the deadline face a higher penalty after june 14th of 210. even if you can't pay what you owe, filing return by the 14th will eliminate penalty but keep in mind the charge for filing

it's going to be like in the upper 60s low 7 in time for the parade and i'll have a look at that forecast. let's get out the door this morning. if i was watching the zipper truck looking at the golden gate bridge. it's a nice clear and also breezy start this morning. it's 57 degrees and that's what you were talking about, kris, we can notice a couple of degrees difference starting out early in the morning. it's 53 now in livermore. it's 50 in napa and 53 degrees in santa rosa as you head out the door now. martinez starts out at 64 degrees at 8:00 and 73 degrees at 10:00 and today will be much. we'll already bafrnoon as we igh in to the upper 80s there antioch and napa 87 degrees and san francisco reaching 72 degrees while in palo alto. we'll see the high there up to 82 degrees and mid-80s for the south bay. as you're getting dressed this

morning, nice clear skies and do need short sleeves and shorts and it will once again heat up fast. we're breaking out the summer gear, sandals and sunglasses if you have the day off or kids are out of school, good day to head to the beach. it's going to be much more comfortable there. but also a high amount of grass pollen still floating through the air. everything else is local w as w check out the pollen count. this is for you marcus, at about 11:00, we'll be at 68 degrees and then some low 70s for the next couple of hours. not so bad, breezy but a lot of sunshine. and our weather really nice there while the inland areas make it up to 95 degrees 93 still hot on wednesday and then cooler weather in the forecast for the rest of the week. low 80s which is still going to be slightly warmer than normal and it will be warm in san francisco with some mid-70s for the high tomorrow. mike, tracking a fire inan jose? >> i am it's a small roadside

fire, first it was 680 and king, what i said last time. there was another location 101 at story which would be farther down the road and now it's reported that there's actually in the area and has to be shut down 280 on to 101 southbound, the transition ramp. i do see traffic still flowing there and see flashing lights as they travel across the area. i'll continue to track that and shawn over at the news desk is letting us know in we have anything serious to worry about. sounds like a small brush fire that will be taken care of quickly. no slowing on any routes where i have the icon. that's good news for the south bay. we'll continue to follow that, the rest of the bay shows a nice drive, here's contra costa, not kicking in yet for antioch and pitsburg, a smooth drive towards the bay bridge toll plaza down 880 to fremont. smooth flow of traffic. truck scales just as much traffic as it does on the nimitz right there. back to you. >> thanks, mike. 4:49. a natural disaster to tell you about. this in colorado a wildfire

there growing. it's actually spans 16,000 acres in southwestern parts of the stay near new mexico. more than 1300 have been evacuated. another 1,000 are on stand by. >> from antonio villa raigosa t john cox, a charter school group says it may throw their support to the republican candidate for governor. california charlter schools association advocates spent nearly $23 million supporting antonio villaraigosa in the primary but now the group says it may support cox who is endorsed by president trump. gavin newsom is on the record supporting traditional public schools and calling for more charter school accountability. broadway honored its best last night with the tony awards but robert deniro is stealing the spotlight with a harsh assessment of president trump. >> it's no longer down with trump, it's [ bleep ] trump.

milpitas woman who says she got a rental car run-around from 4:54, nbc bay area responds to a milpitas woman who says she got i car rental runaround from a dealership. >> chris chmura tells us how he helped her get her money back. >> good morning. shari bought a new hyundai sonata in 2016 and a year and a half later it started shaking badly when she srted the

engine. she took it to a dealer in fremont where mechanics told her she needed a new transmission. the factory warranty covered it. here's the dispute. the dealer said it didn't have lone e loaner cars to spare. she spent $438 on a rental while waiting for repairs and then followed the dealer's instructions to get paid back put she spent four months making calls and sending e-mails and got zero payback. that's when she called us. the dealer didn't respond to us directly but shari says a few days after we asked the dealer to review her case, she got the full $438 owed to her. schaar ri learned an important lesson, wherever a business makes you a verbal promise, no, that's not good enough, you have to get it in writing. a written reimbursement agreement can save a lot of time and a lot of trouble.
