laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. let's get straight to the traffic, vianey has been tracking that. two signature alerts. >> in the tri-valley. if that's your morning commute, you need to listen up, we're dealing with heavy delays. i want to get to the first crash right now and this is along 580 at eden and this is right along over -- eden canyon road. there was an overturned semi that had all lanes blocked and now it appears all lanes are open except for the left lane. they were working to clear out that debris but even though we are still seeing heavy delays backed up and unfortunately your alternate route which is typically southbound 680, that's where we're seeing the second sigalert. this is along sheridan road. lanes do remain blocked. this is a multivehicle accident involving four vehicles. one spun out and another one is fully engulfed in flames. we do have some shots from the scene. first i do want to take you to 580 where you can see the heavy
6:01 am
delays still from the ground. this is the earlier crash involving that semi. they did clear that out but you can see how heavy the delays are. chp was going back and forth for a while and said all lanes were open except for one. then they kind of went back and said now only two lanes were open. judging about this picture, it looks like they are not really moving at this hour. so we're going to check out and see what's going on there. they seem to be opening some lanes then close them out. i did see they were working to clear some debris. i want to take you to 680, a shot from the chopper, that is a rough scene. you can see the car fire pullfu engulf. we're not sure if there are any injuries and we're making a phone call to find out if everybody is okay. we have several lanes closed and appears to be one lane. couple of lanes merging back up through here. look at the heavy delays. at this point your only option from the tri-valley.
6:02 am
580 out of the question. maybe take 680 down to 84 and avoid heading in this direction general near sheridan. look at that heavy backup. wow, if you're not looking at the screen, i don't mean to scare you but you may want to pay attention, we're only seeing one lane open. we have several cars merging in that direction. this is a live picture using our sky ranger. i'll keep you updated on that but right now expect heavy delays along 580 and 680. westbound 580 and 680. back to you. >> looks so rough trying to get out of the tri-valley. it's going to be at least a nice weather day. we're starting out with clear skies and as you head out the door, we're feeling temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, the a's game will be happening this evening and it's going to be really nice for that, low 60s and sunshine. all of the bay area will enjoy some cooler temperatures compared to the way we started this week, 82 in antioch and 63 in san francisco. san jose will be in the upper

course they also had to tepd to that victim. back in may the police chief told sf chronicle there was a downward trend in crime but increase in aggravated assaults. now still unclear exactly what motivated the five fight but may have started in either orinda or lafayette. pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> thanks for that update there. >> it is 6:04. we're working to find out more about a busy crime scene in the south bay. this is video just into the newsroom. a car crashed at almaden and floyd. look how several people handcuffeded and put into police cars. neighbors describe a chaotic ending. >> i heard a big crash. and so we go over to the window and i don't know, first we go outside. >> we go outside. >> they are going, get back inside. get back inside. >> so we went back inside. >> we went back to the window, which is stupid because there was a gun so --
6:05 am
>> one of the menu can see here handcuffed to a stretcher was taken to the hospital, not badly hurt. neighbors did tell us they see crashes in that area all the time. >> developing this morning, a child is dead and a suspect is in custody after shooting at a dentist office in colorado. that shooting happened yesterday afternoon at a busy office park. two adults and two kids were hospitalized. one of those kids later died. the suspect left the scene but police later found a car matching the description of the one at the shooting. police surrounded the car and then took that driver into custody. police are calling the driver a person of interest. no word on whether there are any other suspects. >> frightening. it's 6:05. fallout this morning after the justice department's watchlog group slams former director james comey's actions ahead of the 2016 presidential election. the inspector general's report says comey used bad judgment in how he handled the hillary clinton e-mail investigation. the report also suggests comey
6:06 am
was insub order nature for going public without telling his bosses first. at the same time, it is not believed comey and agents meant to influence the election. >> this report did not find any evidence of political bias or improper considerations actually impacting the investigation under review. >> the report also accuses comey of a serious error in judgment for reopening that investigation days before the election. the fbi is already talking about using this report to train employees on what not to do. hillary clinton did not talk about the fbi report last night in san francisco. she was here honored for her work pushing gun control legislation. former congresswoman gabby giffords, after an assassination attempt present the award. clinton says her position made her a target of the gun lobby during the 2016 presidential campaign. the gun lobby spent $30 million against me.

now, they never had the guts to take on any specific policy proposal. in fact the ads they ran had nothing to do with guns. they were just out right lies. >> on a separate note, bill clinton will be in san jose at the sap center in a couple of weeks. he and author james patterson promoting their new book. you may remember the contentious video on the "today" show earlier this month. if you can't wait for san francisco's pride parade next weekend, spend time on the peninsula this weekend. the san mateo county pride celebration is tomorrow. it is at san mateo central park and it is free and that fun starts at 11:00 a.m. >> you may know sterling k. brown, the award winning actor from nbc's "this is us." he's going to be here in the bay area on sunday for this year's graduates of stanford. brown is delivering the key note address and graduated from stanford 20 years ago with a bachelor's degree in drama. >> right now taking a live look in pleasanton, is funnel cake

your thing? i know i love it. how about deep fried twinkies don't know about that. how about pig races or fair ride to make your head start spinning? if that is something you like, the alameda county fair starts tomorrow. the bay area's large eflt fair kicks off with the annual cattle drive to the fairgrounds and you're looking at video of that event we shot last year. the fair runs through july 8th and kari, certainly a great weekend to get out there and enjoy a fair. >> yeah, lots of sunshine and cooler temperatures. you want the cowboy hat to give you some shade and protect you from the sun. that will be beaming down all weekend long. here's a live look outside in san jose as you get ready to head out on this friday morning. we'll have low 60s to start and not as hot as it's been as we trends in the upper 70s by 2:00 today and looking at concord where it's been scorching hot all weekend long but look at our trend for today. low 60s at 8:00.

6:10 am
you can see how slow the traffic is moving i can't really tell by this cara if there's a lane open -- i'm not sure how far back the shot is. chp is reporting there is a lane open but it seems like they keep going back and forth. it might be because they are trying to clear debri and make sure the roads are safe. i want to take you to a chopper shot at southbound 680. you can see that car. look at this picture. the car right there was completely engulfed in flames and this was a crash involving four vehicles. managed to clear out a lot of that debris but now they got what looks tore two lanes earlier it was june one. i did look at your drive times and tweet that out. you're looking at delays upwards of 75 minutes. your best bet is going to be to just take 84 and try to avoid 580 if you're going to drive down 680. take 84 and don't bother going down to sheridan because you'll get caught in this mess. >> that's tough. watch 84 get backed up now.
