police say a man, mohammad nayl school th , stole that puppy so he could give it to his estranged girlfriend. he call nayl as he walked into his business in san jose, grabbed the dog and left. the camera paid off for the dog's owner. >> i'm actually really happen she's back. that's all i wanted. my mom, she said she had a dream of her playing when she was big, the day we lost her, which was monday night. you know, i'm glad she's back. >> it is a cute dog. nayl was arrested. the estranged girl friend was unaware the puppy was stolen and was not involved in that crime. >> not a good way to get your girlfriend back. coming up next on "today in the bay," instagram users are up giving a big boost for its newest app. we'll show you what it will feature and who is likely to use it. >> plus can you tell me how to get to apple street? the silicon valley apple teaming

good morning, i'm courtney reagan live at cnbc yesterday. the nasdaq closing at a record high again helped by facebook and amazon. the market rose on deal news, disney increasing its offer for seventh straight day. it's the longest losing streak dropped 42 points and the nasdaq rose 55 points to

7781. instagram now has more than 1 billion users worldwide up from 800 million last year. the app owned by facebook is adding a section to long form video expanding beyond photo sharing. ig tv will feature videos from rising internet artists. it will initially be part of the instagram app but will also be available as a stand alone app. apple teaming up with sesame workshop, award winning studio behind "sesame street" to develop several live action animated children shows. area is experiencing a housing crisis. a new report by san mateo leadership council finds san mateo county alone added 72,000 new jobs over a five-year period ending in 2015. so not even the full boom. during the same period the county added fewer than 4,000 new homes. that amounts to 19 new jobs for every one home. the report concludes more housing would likely lead to a lot less commuter trm. coming up on "today in the bay" for us. >> warm but nice in spots like palo alto where 50s and l 60s during the morning. and we'll be in the low 70s for the afternoon. now, we will see some breezy winds and sunshine and much hotter temperatures for the wee. i'll have a look at that coming up next. through san jose, traffic is light but lots of room.

weather in the forecast for the weekend. as you step out, now nice and cool with low- to mid-50s all around the bay area. we're looking at low 50s for napa, 50 there, 56 in san francisco and palo alto and san jose we're stepping out the door with 55 degrees as we go through the morning commute through fremont we'll have mid-50s as we go through at least the 8:00 hour. you'll still see those clouds overhead until about 9:00 there. after that we're all clearor the rest of the day with warming temperatures in 60 to start but 85 already by 2:00 today. it's going to get a little hotter than that as head up to 90 for an afternoon high. in livermore, expect a high of 86, santa ross today 84 degrees. as we get dressed this morning, good day to break out all the summer gear.

lightweight, light colored clothing. something short sleeved to keep you comfortable and shorts, of course, help stay cool and then sunglasses and sandals. maybe a good beach day, good day for that and the next several days. as we through the forecast making plans, heading to the alameda county fair, it's going to reach into mid-80s by early afternoon. you might want to go early in the afternoon or go later on this evening because in the middle of the day it's not going to be all that e a light northwesterly wind but it's not coming straight onshore. that's what usually helps keep us cool. but today with a slight shift in the wind direction, we will be much warmer and then much warmer for saturday as the winds actually blow offshore and there won't be much of a wind, 10 to 15 miles an hour for much of the bay area. but then as the wind shifts back onshore by monday, we are going hot for me big cooling. today, up to 90 degrees for the

interior valleys and 98 degrees for tomorrow. the most dangerous heat will be on saturday. it does come down several degrees on sunday but the nicest day in the forecast will be monday and then again on wednesday of next week. heading over to mike you're showing a little slowing for the longer commute. >> a little longer for the longer commute. that's unfortunate. not unexpected way over here on this side. over here on this side dry for the peninsula. that used to be either side of the water looking great. for folks out of the altamont pass, altamont corner, usual this time of the morning. construction crews clearing on time, clearing up, speeds passed grant line road. drive through contra costa, harp 4, walnut creek getting toward the maze. mass transit a great option as well. bart out of the tri-valley, capital corridor no problems, no delays out of the central valley. a live look at toll bridge plaza

attract new customers. sometimes those money back promises aren't kept. this woman traded in two iphones in 2016 and expect aed a credit for them. over the next year and a half she called verizon six times to get her money. when verizon didn't come through she called us. we asked verizon to take another look. a week later she received the credit just under $500. they resolved the issue but declined to comment further. amy told us versus op never provided a reason this happened. i plan to contact them directly to find this why. we can't stress this enough. if you turn in old phones for credit, save those receipts like a amy did. you should never give phones to an employee without written proof. if you send your old phone in by mail, ask for delivery
