afternoon. nearly 22 structures have been destroyed. >> a shooting has left one person dead and two others injured. witnesses say they heard gunshots just before 9:00 last night on the 2000 block of mission street. two survivors were taken to a near by hospital. one is in critical condition. it's the latest against president donald trump's immigration policies. hundreds gathered yesterday. several marches were held in cities right here in the bay area. we have the details. they are families united to help families divide at the u.s.

along the immediate coast right now we have nice clouds rolling in. this is also going to set us up for a cooler afternoon compared to what we saw yesterday afternoon. we are still expecting warm interior temperatures. we are expecting to keep tell vated fire dangers. it was extended until 3:00 p.m. today for lake county, yolo

county. i'll have more details how long it is expected to last in just a bit. >> smoke into parts of the bay area. the fire broke out around 2:15 yesterday arn. as of this morning it has now burned about 8,000 acres. it is burning on highway 16 evacuation orders are now in place. all of this will come back. >> strong winds are driving that fire. at least one firefighters has been injured. it isn't just yolo county.

high winds caused winds to jump flames. several roads are shut down. the fire remains about 73% contained. nearly 14 now acres have burned. 22 acres have been destroyed. you can get updates on the fire and weather conditions witnesses heard gunshots. one victim died there at the scene. two survivors were taken to a near by hospital. one of them is in critical condition. now to a day of action across the bay area and across the country.

under the banner "keep families together," they hundreds of thousands of people gatt under the banner keep families together. they protested separating more then 2,000 immigrant children from their parents. it is happening between may 2nd and june 20th. larry joins us this morning. let's go over the time line since may 2nd. what's happened? >> start at the beginning. on may 2nd that's when jeff sessions announced that moving forward border officials would separate the children of families entering the u.s. through the southern borders.

sessions described this as a new policy -- as a deterrent to illegal immigration. more than 2,000 children were taken from their parents and housed in different locations throughout the country. in all cases they had no idea where their children were. give people a sense of were we not covering the way we are covering it? >> it is different. up until now only a few children have been united with their parents in this situation.

that's what is so different here. government authorities don't even know which children are at which locations. we have 2,000 kids making reunions difficult. it has been acting in violation of a 1997 court order that says minors may not be separated from their parents for more than 20 days. there have been instances where it ended in discussion like that. >> okay. so now we know the president has

expressed this and he wants the families back together. on the one hand the trump administration has agreed to reunite the immigrant children with their parents. you saw that as they await appearances. at the same time the trump administrati administration lawyers have asked them to end the 20 day limit which the administration had violated. that's why we don't know what's going on here. 800 cities demanded action on gun control.

san francisco 56. what are we owing the cooling trend to? we have also got a nice marine layer. you'll notice a little foggy and cloudy along the coast. here is a welcome at ocean beach using our weather underground cameras. further inland and the high elevation areas still expect to see high fire danger. we are dppting wednesdays to start kicking up. if you notice the temperatures climb into the upper 90s. they are expecting to see triple digit heat once again.
