good tuesday morning to you. i'm frances rivera. >> and i'm richard lui. hope you're having a great day. after ten days trapped in darkness, all 12 missing boys and their soccer coach have been found alive. but rescuers cannot declare mission accomplished, not as of yet. following a marathon search operation stretching over a week and involving over 1,000 people, more challenges still ahead. >> rising waters and mud are still blocking access to exits, and now the issue is getting all 13 out safely. the thai army says the group may have to wait in the cave up to four months for floods to recede. another option is to have the boys learn how to dive, but it's taken even highly trained divers several hours to get to the trapped group. more from london with this latest hurdle. >> good morning, frances. really incredible news that they located them. it was a race against time to find them. now it could be a long time before rescuers are even able to get them out of that cave

safely. the governor of the province saying if it's not 100%, they will not bring the kids out, and they can't at this point confirm how many days it may take. but as you said, estimates range from days to even months. u.s. air force captain jessica tate, a spokeswoman for the 353rd special operations group on the ground there, says all options are being explored, and they are there to support the thai-led rescue effort in a multinational partnership operation. these include alternate extraction points. the long game is said to be waiting it out for the floodwaters to recede, which some reports say could last until the rainy season ends, which is normally around october. there's also ideas to teach those trapped how to breathe with scuba but experts say that comes with risk. it's taken professional divers days to navigate the extremely murky water through narrow passages. to teach the kids that could prove dangerous to them and the

rescuers. one priority is to provide medical assistance and food and water for these trapped. the provincial governor saying using a three tiered system, they all seem to be in the green zone. no one in the danger zone. it seems at this point they're safe and ready to find a way to beractedrom that cave. >> at least they can get food and water to them. as americans make their holiday plans, the fbi says it has foiled a chilling terror plot. this to attack the july 4th celebration in cleveland. the suspect has been charged with attempting to provide support to a terrorist group. he faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. nbc justice correspondent pete williams tells us how the feds caught him. >> reporter: richard, this man came to the attention of the fbi and cleveland police because of his social media postings. they say he repeatedly expressed a desire to see terror attacks in the u.s. that would kill large numbers of people. his target federal investigators say was cleveland's july 4th parade and fireworks show.

relief at night either. temperatures in the 70s just aren't enough, and it's going to be another hot one. frances, back to you. >> we know that all too well. stephanie, thanks. we're just a week from the president's announcement, his pick to replace justice anthony kennedy on the supreme court. this morning a new snapshot on where americans stand on that issue. 87% say the nomination of a new justice is very or somewhat important according to a new nbc news/survey monkey poll. 44% of respondents say they want the next justice to be moderate. another 32% want a conservative. but it's one stat in particular that could help the president sell lawmakers on a speedy confi confirmation vote. let's go to nshs's chris pollone for more. orte someen the president's nominee but it turns out that might not be a winning strategy. nearly two-thirds of those surveyed, 62%, say the senate should vote to confirm or reject trump's nominee before the
