>> a large portion of evacuation has been lifted. there are still some areas under evacuation. some of the things that have been done now is the power company. they are trying to repair lines that were damaged in the fire. i also want to show you we are actually parked amongst southern california. you can see they are dousing down this home that was damaged. that's basically what they're doing. the homes themselves are some of the hot spots in this area. as of 5:00 this evening. people who live in the evacuated neighborhood have been allowed to return home. >> this is called the holiday fire. it exploded lastz night and continued to range early into the morning.

the flames moving so fast and doing so much damage, the governor declared a state of emergency. started out as structure fire. moved to nearby brush and other homes because of high winds. calmer winds today helps crews get a better handle on things. during an afternoon news conference, the santa barbara sheriff reminded people the fire is still active. >> we will reduce the main evacuation zone to an area that surrounds the actual fire perimeter. >> a lot of le sourresources ha deployed and seems to have paid off. about 80% contained and kept to 100 acre burn area. >> the sheriff reminds people that are in the voluntary evacuation hear, they still need to be prepared to leave. there are still hot spots in this area. the mandatory evacuation area
