inland valleys. concord 99 degrees. it is 93 in napa. you want to make sure you're prepared and mike, you have a look at what's happening out there on the roads. >> unfortunately a very light volume of traffic. behind me one new incident. i'll give it a couple of seconds. it just popped up a couple of seconds ago. this is all the way down to the south bay. the valley no issues. coming out we have seen a slower drive start to improve. this is coming off of 205 and showing that slower section. they have picked up the cones now. in the south county a nice smooth drive. northbound 101 right here. no problems through there. it will start slowing later in the commute. no problems for highway 17 and the summit. i want to point out as we'll take a live camera north of 101

we do have a crash reported and sounds like everything is moving to the shoulder quickly. we can see the live traffic moving smoothly. back to you guys. >> all right. we need to follow breaking news out of thailand. it is exciting news. we learned all members of the boys soccer team out of the cave. the thai navy seals brought that information to us. their soccer coach was also taken out of the cave. rescuers went in to remove the last of the five trapped team members. no doubt they will be taken to the hospital. 5:02 right now. we want to go with the pick for the supreme court. he chose kavanaugh. this is one of the important decisions a president can make. this morning the nation is

reacting. we have a chance that he actually has with reaching the high chance. this will be a tough confirmation hearing here. >> reporter: definitely. this is going to be a top one. the big question now, can he be confirmed? protests in washington turned tense after president trump announced his choice for supreme court justice. >> i will nominate judge brett kavanaugh to the united states supreme court. >> he serves on the dc circuit court and would make this conservative. >> it is confirmed by the senate. i will keep an open mind in every case and i will always strive to provide the institution of the united

states. >> top republicans cheered the pick. >> he will be confirmed. he will get bipartisan support. >> democrats worry a right leaning court could cripple existing law on health care, lgbt rights and more. >> this must not become the next justice on the supreme court. >> we won't back down. we won't give up. we won't go back. >> some believe kavanaugh was that should not be investigated while in office. >> now he has this get out of jail free card. >> his confirmation is anything but certain with a slim one vote senate republican majority every vote will count. and conservative groups are already launching ad campaigns to win votes, marcus. >> we'll be watching this. >> we'll continue to monitor all

of the service. scott will have the onanalysis d we'll be twreeeting updates. today is supposed to be the deadline for the trump administration. we learn that will not be happening as planned. today in the bay joins us live with how it will impact hundreds of families impacted at the border. >> good morning to you. today's deadline is really just about as confusing ad. today instead of the deadline it is about getting more information to the judge who ordered that quick reunion for those tender aged children. an attorney for the justice department estimated that 54 of the 102 children would be united that same attorney said that the difficulty with that is that

some of the children, their parents cannot be located. nine were deported and nine others released. some have criminal records that preclude them from being reunited with their children. today they will face a federal judge to answer more questions. before the judge's order the children didn't automatically include mentions of family separation. the department of health and human services had to conduct a case by case review of more than 11,000 different records. the judge told the government to be efficient and quick but without losing sight of the information of the child. the rest of the children were to be reunited with their parents by july 26th. we don't know yet whether that deadline that has been pushed back. we know the judge is expecting serious answers today. >> all right. thanks for the latest there. it turned deadly for a san

francisco couple. they were celebrating their first wedding anniversary. investigators say the 21-year-old was killed when a man on a motorcycle pulled up to the restaurant she was eating at and started shooting at the bouncer who worked near by. the bouncer and her husband survived but she did not. this morning her family in chicago is grieving as they ask for prayers. >> a heartbreaking story.

>> that's heartbreaking. >> services scheduled for this weekend in chicago. >> what a heartbreaking story. a disabled boy left on his own at the los angeles train station and this morning his bay area mother is facing charges. she appeared in court yesterday charged with a felony count of child endangerment. a security guard found the boy but he couldn't communicate. >> she was like i don't know why i have to have a child. there is a lot of stress on her. >> he is being cared for by family members. we are learning details of a woman accused of sparking fires

before 10:00 p.m. we wake up to clear skies and fairly mild temperatures. we are from 55 in santa rosa so 65 in san francisco. it is 64 in san jose. so kind of a warm start. as we go through the morning commute no need for a jacket. we are going to have nice cool weather to start and then it heats up fast as we go through the day in fremont. we start with letting the windows open and later it will be air-conditioning. if you're going out to some of the hiking trails it will be at about 63 degrees. clear and cool, 74 degrees at 10:00. it will heat up fast. it will be a bit hot during the middle of the day. want to make sure you stay hydrated. you're updating the crash. >> yeah. this is northbound 101. it is only effecting the off

stay hydrated. parts of the bay area will be hitting the 90s. i'll have a look at that coming up in less than five minutes. and from right to left it looks like one or two people are hitting their brakes. traffic has a memory. we'll see if it remembers how to get back on north of 680. a good morning to you. investors seem to decide that the trade war -- and it is a trade war, wasn't worth worrying about. i can't tell you why they think that. the market does what the market does. look at twitter. twitter had a really rough day after reports that the expect suspended 70 million accounts.

twitter is barely growing. if the company is cutting tens of millions of accounts it is not at all. the chief financial officer said most accounts are not included in our reported metrics as they have not been active for 30 days or more or we catch them as they sign up and they are never counted. twitter may still be growing. members of congress sent a letter to google after report that is google powered android phones may track them even if location services are off. the surface go tablet. prices at $399 a little bit more expensive than an ipad but it gives the first real competition ever. it has been very well reviewed

warmer. at first pitch we'll be at 67 degrees. breezy winds and mostly clear skies. let's get a look at sky that is will range from 63 degrees to 99 degrees in concord. livermore will be hot. it is 90 in san jose. 95 in morgan hill. low 90s for the north bay. if you're able to go to the beach today head to the coast where it will be nice and much cooler. we start out at 55 in santa cruz and seeing high temperatures reaching into the low 70s by early afternoon. i'm at kari hall weather on twitter and instagram. a lot of pictures on there. you can find out more about me and the forecast. i'll keep you updated on what's happening. temperatures stay in the low 90s and higher humidity by friday. that moisture moving into the bay area. it does clear out for the

weekend but it will be pretty warm. upper 80s inland and mid-60s for san francisco. >> we sea saw far period of tim that it ripples back far few dozen yards. this is north of 680. here we are looking at this continuing over the last few minutes. it looks like someone hit their brakes hard and it caused the ripple back and north. be aware there may be minor disruptions to flow. we do see that slowing. there is also a crash and there may be more flashing lights that may contribute to folks building as the commute just starts to build through the south bay. we see that kicking in right about now so it will be a factor as well. the rest of the bay shows a nice easy drive.

the tri valley you can see more traffic building and start to see slowing in pleasanton in the next half hour. we also see evidence right here, slow are times 16 minutes to the toll plaza with barely any back up. here is an easy drive all the way down to the golden gate bridge. thanks so much, mike. what police say you need to watch out before heading out the door this morning. but the story ends well. it )s body-camera video .. showing a newark new jersey some video that may be a little hard to watch but the story ends well. it's body camera video showing a new jersey police officer arriving at a home where a two-year-old girl was not breathing. she was found under water in the family pool on sunday. officers started to resuscitate her. they did end up saving her and the family calling the officers heros. can never be too careful around swimming pools. some people in palo alto on edge. it happened minutes apart. here is where it happened. the victim says the man with his face covered told him to give up his wallet. the victim refused and the suspect left. police say 12 minutes later someone reported another

attempted robbery a mile away. that person gave the same suspect description. neither victim was hurt. a woman posted this on her facebook page. it shows a man smoking something on her ride home sunday. she tells us she and other commuters have to deal with things like this all of the time. >> i honestly think that the city should do something about it but there's no way for them to do anything about it really. so i guess have security guards on the trains or something. >> well, bart officials responded to that saying in part smoking in any kind is not allowed within the bart system and what is shown in that video is unacceptable. we encourage riders to report it to bart police. coming up next on today in the bay, breaking news from thailand, mission accomplished. all of the boys and the coach

with us. >> let's get things going. things are going to heat up once again. >> yes. i have another vantage point. this clear sunrise this morning. this is from san bruno mountain. we know when there's no fog on the bay that it will heat up for the inland area. take a look at concord's temperature trend for today. we'll be in the mid-70s by 9:00 and reaching into the low 90s today. it continues to go up from there. concord will be hitting 99 degrees. be ready for the high heat for the inland valleys. you have been following what's hapg. >> it's time for that change and it's only the fast track lanes that are backing up over the

last seven minutes i would say. it indicates overall a lighter volume of traffic right now. we tend to see that during the summer months. the metering lights are likely on there because of that pattern. we are looking at a slower drive here. no other problems for this. north bay all moving pretty much at pace. one note over here, i heard about a brush fire. we are tracking that and i'll let you know if it effects any of the roadways. this is north of 580. we have another crash. a tow truck did arrive. we saw more build up. i'll have more coming up. back to you. all right. 5:31 right now at thailand. what we learned is all of the members of the boys soccer team

trapped in a cave under water have been rescued. a tohai -- no update on the condition of the boys and coach. again, all 13 team members are now out of that cave and rescued. new this morning a piece of san francisco history. this is from overnight. that fire burned the popular bar. this is in north beach a few hours ago. today pete joins us live with a closer look at the damage. even people live above it. >> good morning to you. an iconic irish pub here. it is one of the few buildings that survived a 1906 earthquake.

>> you're seeing this three story boilding caught on fire just before midnight. a lot of heavy smoke and fire on the top floor and attic areas of the building. the crews are forced to take a more aggressive approach to contain that fire. people inside of the pub were able to evacuate on their own. interestingly enough you the supervisor coming out to the scene and applauding the work by the fire crews. >> i'm just really so proutd of our fire department tonight. they contained this fire within an hour. there were no injuries.

you know, they really worked hard. >> some great work done. you're looking at the roof area, that top floor area where most of that damage and smoke was coming from. i want to point out they say one firefighter had a minor injury. it appears to be but that firefighter is doing okay. >> all right. thanks for the latest. it is 5:34 right now. investigators say she was driving from the portland area when she disappeared.

the last cell phone signal was nier santa cruz. they searched but had no luck finding her. her family says she was looking forward to seeing her sister get married. >> it is scary when you don't know what's happening. your mind starts doing stuff to you. >> they say angela was driving a white jeep. they don't know if foul play was involved. 5:35 right now. it is up for a vote today. today in the bay is live at pleasant hill bart station with what could be involved. there could be a lot of privacy concerns when we are dealing with these areas. >> yes. there have been a number of cities and counties.

they try to implement license plate leaders. not clear if there's any resistance being considered through the board of supervisors. later today they will vote on whether or not to authorize surveillance cameras and license plate readers here at the pleasant state area. take a look at your tv screen. these are the kind of license plate readers that have been involved here. this is a 125 acre complex that includes the bart station. the association will pay for the equipment at no cost to the county. no clear what prompted this to install license plate readers

here. the police wanted to install and concerned the city would have license plate data and charge enforcing the country's immigration laws. they said it would not happen. they already have license plate leaders on squad cars and they don't share that info with ice. today in the bay. >> all right. we will be paying attention to this one of course. thank you. when it kocomes to pocket leaders leaders are expected to replacement plan along with equipment. if approved it will cost about a million dollars. most stay in marin county. this is a live look at the s curve right now. they report that research stayed within county lines. only 84% were counties passing through.

we look at noon. it is already 87 degrees. lunch inside today. low 90s for the afternoon. we'll continue to heat up from there. if you're enjoying the time on the hiking trails it will be the best time to do anything. at 10:00 we are at 74. by 2:00 it is a bit hot to be outside hiking. it is 85 degrees. you'll want to stay hydrated throughout the day. highs in san jose up to 90 degrees. concord at 99 degrees and 92 in santa rosa. it will be cool and comfortable for the coast. getting dressed this morning good day to wear something lightweight, light colored, something that will keep you cool today. we see a lot of moisture being pushed. you can see showers starting to develop.

we'll see the same heading towards the end of the week. a little more cloud cover but still low rain as we go through the forecast looking at upper 80s by the end of the week into the weekend and for the coastal areas in san francisco. some 60s throughout the forecast. you're checking in on a car fire? >> i am. we saw this and i showed folks just before a commercial there. overall the bay looks great. that is great as we approach 6:00. southbound shows flowing. that is out of fremont which moves very smoothly. it is likely distracted by the smoke. this is on the northbound side. that is where it landed there just off of the freeway. so you will see smoke through the area. flames reported also one person standing outside. it sounds like everybody should be okay. i'll double check on that and follow this as flames get put

information. welcome back. a new phone scam. someone is asking people to call and confirm their kred cart information. it goes the a computer that requests credit and debit card numbers. police say it's a scam. if you get any information like this don't give any information out. let your bank know right away. >> this is video into our news room showing a waitress getting attacked bay stranger in a restaurant kitchen right there. a man walked into the kitchen, punched a waitress in the face and another pulled out a gun and made that employee -- take a look at that. that owner says a woman is allowed to carry that weapon while on duty specifically for moments like this. police are searching for the man in the video. >> that is pretty frightening. 5:56. tomorrow we'll get an update.

it suddenly closed last week. some came down with some sort of gast gastrointestinal illness. they don't know exactly which one. they have been working on cleaning up the camp and adding new health measures. tomorrow they will decide whether it can reopen in time for the weekend. it is 5:57. it had been almost a month after an employee died. he became unhitched an hit her. >> a very tragic accident. we have new information on the towing company. family and friends are still mourning the loss. a carrolled off the back of a tow truck into the ditch where she was working. we learned that the company never should have been on the road. irvine towing has a history of safety violations. at the time of the incident the
