>> i'm laura garcia. let's get straight to the forecast with kari. >> it's going to be warmer and feel warmer due to a lot more humidity in the air. here's the live look outside at that beautiful sunrise and a very shallow layer of fog in the foothills. as we start out this morning, we will have the temperatures in campbell in the upper 60s through 9:00. and even though it starts out in the 60s, we'll still make it back into the 80s today. a little warmer than normal. go to another hot spot, martinez will be in the mid 80s by 2:00 today. you'll see a few more clouds, but really feel more stickiness in the air, and i'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. mike, you're checking in at the bay bridge. >> folks will be sticking around the bay bridge toll plaza for a few more minutes as we finally have all lanes filled in. i say finally because it's taken about a half hour. the metering lights were turned on at 5:30, but it's been an

easy build through the maze. look how light. all green through the walnut creek interchange. a crash in eastbound interstate 8, right past highway four, that's countercommute and on the shoulder there. no other crashes. the other ones i had in the last report have cleared from the lanes. that's good stuff. down through the south, either side, the east bay and peninsula side, looking great. no major problems for the south bay. a little build for the 101 commute. starting once again. you see how smooth and light it is. we'll watch as silicon valley starts to kick in in the next half hour. for now, back to you. >> 6:01 for you now. president trump is in london this morning after wrapping up his second day of nato meetings in brussels. this is a live picture from london where air force one just landed. the president faces a rough welcome in the uk where demonstrations have already been under way for days now. today in the bay's tracie potts is live in washington, d.c. this morning with what we're expecting while the president is in london as well as what

happened during the president's nato meeting. good morning. >> good morning. let's start with london where he just landed, as you said. the president kind of facing an interesting juxtaposition of demonstrations going on for days and the pomp and circumstance of a presidential arrival with military bands and a big dinner tonight, but most importantly, a meeting with the prime minister. they are not always on the same page. and brexit, which is a big issue there, the president said this morning, isn't really his concern. it's up to the uk. he is leaving this contentious nato meeting where the president said this morning that in an emergency session, he pushed countries to pay more towards nato's defense. here's what he said about that. >> we have had a very amazing two-day period in brussels. and we really accomplished a lot with respect to nato. for years, presidents have been coming to these meetings and

talked about the expense, the tremendous expense for the united states. and tremendous progress has been made. you'll be seeing that. i guess you'll be hearing that a little later. >> now, the president said that these countries, some of them agreed to go beyond their required 2% contribution, but then french president emanuel macron said he was in the room and that's not what he said. no one agreed to go beyond that. some discrepancies on what the numbers are and the timeline for the bigger contributions that the president talked about this morning. we're expecting to hear from the u.n. secretary-general who may clarify that. >> we'll continue to follow that. thank you. >> some hope for families separated at the southern border. the white house is promising the remaining children under 5 will be reunited with their parents by this morning. >> bob redell live to explain what this means for families

including those with kids over the age of 5. >> good morning. we have brand-new information that came to us in the past 30 minutes. first off, there are 103 migrant children under the age of 5 who have been separated. the department of justice just informed us that 57 of them have been reunited with their families this morning. that means there are 46 who are still separated from their parents for a number of reasons. some of the reasons, the government, the u.s. government has safety concerns about their parents. parents who have a serious criminal history, for example. in other instances, the parents have already been deported out of the united states. the government is in the process of trying to reach those people so they can be reunited with their children. a federal judge ordered that children younger than 5 be reunited with their families by yesterday, but the trump administration missed that deadline. nbc news did speak with a father from honduras who was separated from his 4-year-old son when they sought asylum at the u.s.

border back in february. the father has been so distraught over the past several months, over the separation, that he cut himself and threatened suicide. they're now reunited. he said they don't want to let each other go. he's talking about his son and him. he gives thanks to god. a judge has ordered that the rest of the nearly 3,000 children who have been separated from their parents, these are kids over the age of 5, they must be reunited by july 26th. bob redell, today in the bay. >> thank you. continuing coverage now. overnight, thai navy s.e.a.l.s left the area near a flooded cave which captured the world's attention. this morning, the 12 boys and their soccer coach rescued from the cave are still recovering in the hospital. listen to new reaction from the school where half the boys go. >> did you jump up and down? >> yeah. i ran around the house. >> you can imagine how excited

they were to know their friends were okay. we also now know the soccer coach wrote a letter apologizing to the boys' parents. as for their health, once blood tests are clear, doctors will let them go home. >> this morning, investigators say their rur working on a new lead in the search for a mission woman. angela hernandez has not been seen for more than a week. she was on her way to southern california from oregon. and she told her sister last thursday night that she was going to stop at half moon bay for sleep. this was in a safeway parking lot. the next day, hernandez told her family she was back on the road. no one has heard from her since. she was driving a white 2011 jeep patriot. the family is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to her whereabouts and newly released video shows the deadly aftermath of a suspected street race in heyward. a 21-year-old driver of a chevy camaro was arrested after hitting 59-year-old esther

conceptious. she was a longtime employee of alameda county. county supervisors are remembering her. >> an innocent caring life was killed over stupidity, and you know, people need to think about what they do when they get behind the wheel of a car, whether they're racing or whether they're drunk driving or whatever it is. >> the woman was walking home when she was hit by that car. >> 6:07. state public utilities leaders are expected to close the book today on the penalties handed out to b.a.r.t. in connection to an accident where two workers were killed. five years ago, a train struck two maintenance workers on the track between walnut creek and pleasant hill. last year, a judge fined b.a.r.t. about $650,000 and put it on three years probation. the puc allowed b.a.r.t. to only pay part of that fine. >> today is the last day for small businesses in the north bay to apply for a federal

disaster loan. this is tied to last year's deadly wildfires. the government handed out about $21 million, this is to 173 north bay businesses impacted by the fires. >> right now at 6:08, we start out with coastal clouds and fog, and clear for the inland areas. as we lack at palo alto, it already feels quite muggy out there, and some low 60s will turn into some upper 60s by 10:00 this morning. partly cloudy skies and we'll feel more humidity today, even as the day goes on and the temperatures go up. as we get a look at your temperatures as you get ready to head out the door to the fruitvale b.a.r.t. station, 61 in oakland, and low 70s by noon. a little nicer there. and as we check out all of the high temperatures, we're spread out all over the place, from 64 in half moon bay, to 100 in ukiah, and 91 degrees in concord. 86 in san jose.

we'll break it down for san jose in three minutes, and mike gets you out the door with a look at the morning commute. >> a great time to hit one of those areas where you showed does not have 100 or 90 or even an 80. mostly in the 60s as your driving speeds are concerned. a little slow for san jose and heyward. just starting to see the commute kick in. toward the bay bridge, still just 17 minutes. from highway 4 off the car keens bridge. the bay bridge itself does have a backup at the toll plaza, but we have the approach through the maze just fine, and the earlier backup we had at the richmond san rafael bridge, that's cleared up because they open all of the cash lanes. there's no wait for anybody, just a pause to pay. >> always have to pause to pay. 6:09 right now. coming up next, finding a solution to the housing crisis. east bay city trying to help people feeling the crunch and

john's commercial? he's the founder. he's given barack obama a hard time. he's given nfl players a hard time. he's lost his job as ceo. that was last january. now he's lost his job as chairman of the board after admitting to using a racial slur. novartis says it will lay off workers in the east bay and in san francisco, uber says it will cut the number of drivers of its automated cars. its been scaling back its automated car program. now they want to professionalize the remaining driver core. this comes after an uber automated car driver in arizona hit a pedestrian. while the software in the car played a big part and the pedestrian, the uber driver at the time was watching hulu on her phone. we talked about how twitter is suspending millions of accounts because they're fake or they have never been used. now, twitter warns it's probably going to count against you on your follower count. so watch popular twitter accounts. you'll probably see the number of followers go down over the

next 24 hours. >> here's a neat story. a couple days ago, this fellow tweeted to elon musk. elon musk, i promise, no one will beat you to the punch if you try to help the people of flint, michigan. he was referring to musk's plan to use a kid-sized submarine to rescue the boys in thailand. he got beaten to the punch. while they were working on the sub, the divers got to kids out. musk has accepted that flint challenge and said he will pay for clean water for anybody in flint who needs it. >> now, michigan ended its clean bottled water program. they were handing out clean bottled water. ended it last april when the state of michigan said flint was all clear and you could use the water again. people in flint, understandably, are very cautious about that because they have been lied to so many times. i'm sure they'll welcome mr. musk's free water. >> interesting interview with elon musk's mother coming up on the "today" show. interesting to see the

background of maybe how this man became -- exactly. she's a supermodel herself. it will be good to see. watch that on the "today" show after today in the bay. >> at 6:15 right now, happening today, the housing crisis is up for discussion in concord. it starts at 9:30 at the concord senior center. some are calling for stronger tenant protections to try to keep low-income folks from being pushed out. >> and we have more details now nationwide analysts say the housing market may start cooling because there are more homes on the market. there's a more than 12% increase in the inventory in the second quarter, but so far, the bay area's market is not cooling off. >> this may be one reason for this story. if you're looking to retire in the new feature, you may want to look at heading out of the state. not necessarily my thoughts, but hey, this is what the new study says. fakerate releases its newest survey of the best states to

retire and found south dakota is the best staut. they looked at the cost of living which here is high, taxes, health care quality, weather, crime, and senior well being. utah, idaho, new hampshire, and florida rounded out the top five. california, on the other hand, ranked 45th. no surprise there. we're on dock because of the high cost of living and taxes, but we're not the highest new york actually placed the worst place to live. i according to the video, we're all going to be playing cards and bingo and golfing when we're retired. >> all right. that was just an image of what we can see throughout the bay area. what you can't see on the images, the heat. >> heat really cranking up over the next few days. not so much the temperatures but what it feels like outside. as we start out this morning, this is a look at that low clouds and the fog, that marine layer that's returned to san francisco. and it's even producing a little

bit of mist of drizzle as you get ready to head out. temperature there at 57 degrees. 61 in palo alto, and 61 as you head out the door in san jose. the seven-day forecast is already up at the bottom of the skreep. i like to get you out to the door to head to the station on your way to work for that commute, at 61 degrees at 7:00. maybe some long sleeves or a light jacket, but i think with the higher humidity, it doesn't feel that cool and heats up fast with low 80s for later today. as we look at concord, it's going to be slightly warmer there as well. but we're coming down from the upper 90s that we started the work week with, and it's going to be quite uncomfortable still even though it won't be quite as hot. as we look at all of the high temperatures, mid 80s for cupertino. 89 for gilroy. parts of the east bay with low 90s this afternoon. heyward at 80 degrees, and 64 in half moon bay. redwood city, 83 degrees. mostly some 60s in san

francisco. in the north bay, mid 80s. let's talk about this humidity because we're getting a surge of monsoonal moisture, and this is something that typically happens in the desert southwest. but this will be stretching into the bay area as we go through the day. we're already seeing that humidity moving in by the yellows and orange. it shows that we're seeing the higher humidity moving into parts of the bay area and the central valley, and that could spark off a few lightning strikes and possibly a few showers just to the east of the bay area. so i'll be tracking that throughout the day. as we head over to mike, you have been tracking the morning commute and a couple things to talk about. >> a couple things to talk about. because even though the commute is moving smoothly, we want to point out some slowing and also what may be unexpectedly slow in the future. the south bay is looking great right now, but over the last week, we have seen things kick in 7:30, 8:00. by egg:30, the northbound routes have been stigging in morning

commute. do note, right now is a good time to get to where you're going. i did find slowing here, northbound 101. a typical pattern, and by the time you get to morgan hill, you're fine. back up to speed to tanner's bay. fremont, low clouds in the area. visibility is great all around. humidity in the air, going to feel warmer as well, but no problems right there. let's takia to the waze system. contra costa county does move smoothly. we have typical slowing, down to the walnut creek interchange. a lot of folks travel that route. i can save you ten minutes because there's slowing along highway 4. this will be a great avenue, and a lot of folks take that, but it's moving very well. you join here, nbc bay area wazers. join that team and we'll share all of our information around the bay. >> help each other out. thanks, mike. >> coming up here on today in the bay, countdown to the emmys.

welcome back, everyone. it is 6:24 now. nbc bay area responds to a san jose area man who left a hospital with a bill after heart problems struck him in south america. >> we helped the viewer straighten things out with his insurance provider. chris chmura shows us how. >> good morning. dave smith was on vacation at one of the most remarkable places on earth, right there in machu picchu in peru. but he felt sick and went to a doctor. the situation saw so serious, he ended up being flown to a heart hospital in lima, where life-saving treatment was given. he learned health care is much less expensive. his hospital bill came to just $456, which he paid out of pocket. his health insurance provider, kaiser permanente, agreed to cover the bill. dave said kaiser told him it

would mail him his reimbursement check. this was back in february, but he never got the check. after weeks of getting nowhere, he turned to us. we reached out to kaiser and dave got the $456.49 check, just a few days later. kaiser permanente told us it strives to process all claims within 45 days after all documentation is received and with this specific case, a delay occurred. it said we're sorry for any inconvenience this may have happened. dave is fortunate, his kaiser policy does cover most emergencies when covering abroad. before you leave the u.s. for any reason, check with your health insurance provider to see if you have coverage too. you want to know before you go. and also, know who to call when you're over there in case anyone suffers a medical emergency overseas. call us any time, 888-996-tips or visit

nbcbayarea.com/responds. well, new details out of vegas. the city already known for those high rollers, but when it comes to the raiders season ticket holders, the team has to attract at least a few more of them. the raiders plan, as we know, to start the 2020 season in their new vegas stadium. a team source tells the review journal, personal seat licenses will run between $20,000 and $75,000. that just gives you the right to buy the season tickets. psls could generate more than $1 gi 50 million for the team. >> we'll watch them on tv. >> exactly. have you been watching a lot of tv lately? like myself and you too a little bit, right? sometimes. we'll find out which of our favorite shows will get emmy nominations. >> i do watch some of these nbc favorites. will netflix be a big winner again? with shows like "stranger things" and "the crown."

expecting some humidity today. right now at 6:30, off to another cool and foggy start. look at that for fog. we are expecting that humidity today. taking a live look outside. this from san francisco. right? welcome to summer in the city by the bay. dpoom to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. we want to get to care kari hal. >> you can see the gray sky july over san francisco, but inland areas are starting out with sunshine. right now, it's 60 degrees. a little warmer than where we normally start. here's a look at three oour microclimates from the south bay to the peninsula to the tri-valley where we're now in the low 60s, but we have 50s in parts of the east bay and in san francisco as well as patchy fog in the north bay. what are you going to do this afternoon? how about music in the park to lead into the weekend? it's going to be a still fairly

warm afternoon with low 80s in downtown san jose. and we'll see a few clouds moving by. higher humidity and a gradual cooldown into the evening. we'll talk about some things going on around the bay area for the weekend in about six minutes, and mike gets us out the door with a look at the commute. >> just starting to ease into the commute. 6:31, but this is summertime and we're coming off vacation week last week. easing into a later commute pattern as we typically see in july and part of august. just starting the south bay build. northbound would be the push. over here, southbound for 880 and 680 coming through heyward and pleasanton. a typical pattern heading down across the two areas i told you off 580, no drama. moving across san mateo and dumbarton bridge. westbound is your trend. this is west, toward the san mateo bridge and the san mateo side is the high ride. you can see it, but low clouds

hovering around. low clouds around the city, and might impact the north side of the golden gate bridge as well. north of there, a clear look at the backup forming at the richmond-san rafael bridge. the toll plaza side heading to the north bay. back to you. >> thank you. 6:32 right now. new this morning, a 3-year-old is in the hospital after a shooting in oakland. it happened late last night off 80th avenue and holly street. not far from 880. today in the bay's pete suratos joins us live from oakland children's hospital where the child is. do we know more about what happened and how the child is? >> yeah, good morning to you, laura. truly a heartbreaking story with this 3-year-old in oakland, but i can tell you, i just spoke to oakland police in the past hour, and the good news is they're confirming the 3-year-old is in stable condition here at children's hospital. that's new information we're getting in the past hour. going to show you two new pieces of video we're getting as i explain exactly what took place

here. you can see the markers down in that video, and also some bullet casings not too far from the shooting. according to oakland police, they're saying the 3-year-old was shot in a car just before 11:00 p.m. last night near 80th and holly. now, the driver of that car called oakland police as she was driving the 3-year-old to highland officer. let's show our viewers video from highland hospital. that's where police eventually met this driver. you can see there, that's the car and it has a bullet hole in it. the 3-year-old was eventually transported from highland to where we're standing here at children's hospital. the child appears to be the only victim in this. no word from police as far as if they're looking for a suspect connected to the crime. in oakland, pete suratos. >> good update there. the child in stable condition. thanks, pete. >> also developing right now, stormy daniels' attorney blasting her arrest last night

calling it a setup and politically motivated. nbc obtained her booking photo, and this is video from overnight showing officers putting the adult film actry in handcuffs and escorting her to a police station. she was at a strip club where she's performing. she's facing misdemeanor charges. charging documents say she was seminude and allegedly touched patrons inappropriately and allowed hem to touch her prior to her arrest at that strip club. police released daniels overnight. she's supposed to be arraigned tomorrow morning. >> 6:34. in affecting your vote, california's republican party is turning its shoulder on a republican candidate running for congress in the east bay. some say the candidate john fitzgerald is racist and an anti-semitic robocall backing his campaign causing concern this morning. in an e-mail, fitzgerald said he did not authorize the calls and does not support the message. but the chair of the contra

costa republican party who is jewish says that the california republican party does not endorse fitzgerald because of his views, racist views, they say. a check of the candidate's website and social media pages reveals he's a holocaust denying. while republicans do not endorse fitzgerald, 36,000 people voted for him in the june prime air, and he will be on the ballot in november. >> it's really, really unfortunate this happened. our party is going to take action in the general election to see it doesn't happen again. >> the republican party says it's sending fitzgerald a letter saying he's not welcome with their organization. also working on a strategy to inform voters about his views before the november election. >> happening today, london breed attends her first public event as the first black woman mayor of san francisco. hundreds of supporters gathered outside city hall to take the oath to become the city's first

ever black female mayor. this afternoon, she's attends an emergency preparedness meeting with first responders. >> happening tomorrow night, a stretch of vta track near downtown san jose will be shut down after a deadly crash near the race street station last sunday. crews need to make more repairs to the tracks and support poles. it will be closed tomorrow night at 11:30. this will go on until monday morning. vta plans to run bus bruj through the area over the weekend. >> 6:36. today we could learn more about major service cuts for early morning b.a.r.t. riders. we told you about this yesterday on today in the bay. the board of directors, however, meads today. trains will start running at 5:00 a.m. instead of 4:00 a.m. crews are retrofitting the transbay tube so it's safe in an earthquake. b.a.r.t. says the tube itself is seismically sound, but they're worried an outer shell and concrete liner could crack in a major quake.

b.a.r.t. will replace early morning train service with new bus routes. >> happening right now, i don't know if i should say be quiet or wake up. the field of dreams literally at at&t park. talk about a nice slumber party there. so fans yesterday, they set up tenlts in the fields. last night, they were watching movies. saw saw star wars the last jedi as well as a leg of their own on the big screen. they also got to munch on pizza and snacks and play all sorts of games. take a look there. this thrill was something parents and kids both enjoyed. >> i'm grateful for this as a unique opportunity for our family to have a special memory together. >> i love sleeping here. >> i love sleeping too. the only thing i heard i love sleeping and giants. there were giants in there somewhere. this is the giants 16th annual sleepover. the team says it's the oldest stadium slumber party in the

country. as mike said, next year we should go and wake everyone up early with today in the bay. >> the last jedi, a league of their own. they have the jumbotron. we're the broadcast partners. they should be watching today in the bay right now. >> larger than life size. for much larger than life. >> again over here, looking at a nice backup. this is lighter than we often see. these lanes off to the left, look, they're clear. coming over off the berkeley conserve, we have a slower drive here, and a build off 880, but these lanes off to the left are looking great at the bay bridge toll plaza. this is lighter than we have seen for the past half hour. slowing on the upper east shore freeway, but the maze is great. no problems for contra costa county. just a little slowing into concord. a smooth flow for the rest of the south bay. 101 looks great. look at that, as the sun comes up on this shot, it looks beautiful.

>> kari, you probably look at the sky. i'm looking at the sky and a few clouds. we're going to see a warm weekend for some of us in the bay area. these temperatures are spreadute from the coast to the inland areas. for the coast, up to 66 degrees. 84 at the bay, and inland, making it into the upper 80s. we really won't see much of a change heading into the end of the weekend, so we can enjoy some time outside. and all depending on your location, we'll have warmer weather. if you're going to the festival in san jose, this is where mike will be on saturday, and our highs reaching into the low 80s with mostly sunny skies. a good day to get out there. also, if you're going to oakland for the 40th street summer block party, we'll have some upper 70s, sunshine, and also some nice temperatures if you're going to enjoy some time out in the sun. if you're going to the tri-valley this weekend, sipping

on some cool wine, it will be in the upper 80s and low 90s with mostly sunny skies and humidity will be gradually decreasing. if your plans are in the sierra this weekend, maybe going to kirkwood, we will have a slight chance of lightning tomorrow, but other than that, the weekend is shaping up to be a nice one with some mid to upper 70s for the rest of the weekend. how about some beach plans? monterey will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. just a few clouds here and there, but a nice and more comfortable weekend for the beaches. if you're going a little farther south for a beach weekend, it will be warmer. santa barbara reaching the mid to upper 70s for saturday and sunday. are you following me on facebook? i'm meteorologist kari hall. i know a lot of people will be watching the world cup this weekend. let me know what your plans are and i'll a look at today's day planner for the south bay. >> thanks a lot.

national insurance crime bureau puts 21 california cities in the 100 worst spots. here's a look at the list. san francisco, oakland, heyward area, 12th worst. san jose, sunnyvale, santa clara, 13th. redding is the worst city in our state with that fourth overall rating. albuquerque, new mexico, takes the top spot. >> the white house says the remaining migrant children under the age of 5 will be reunited with their parents by this morning. that's according to a white house official. a federal judge had ordered the children be reunited with their families by yesterday, but the trump administration missed the deadline. the rest of the separated children over the age of 5 must be reunited by july 26th. >> and the president has landed in england. >> this after a contentious meeting on the continent with nato. scott mcgrew, the president calls england a hot spot. >> he says he thinks his visit to england will be much tougher than his upcoming meeting with

russian president putin. the atmosphere getting pretty tough in great britain. they just lost a soccer game, right? the prime minister's government all but falling apart this week, and into that mix comes president trump. british officials are expecting record-breaking protests against trump. this visit has been long planned and canceled at least once. the president will meet with prime minister may and the queen of england before heading to his golf properties in scotland later this week. just hours ago, the predwas in belgium at the nato summit where he gave a rare press conference. >> but this was a fantastic two days. this was a really fantastic -- it all came together at the end, and yes, it was a little tough. for a little while. but ultimately, you can ask anybody at that meeting. they're really liking what happened over the last two days. there's a great, great spirit leaving the room.

>> the great spirit quite a change from wednesday when the president publicly hurled accusations at germany during this breakfast meeting. white house chief of staff john kelly was at the meeting. reporters there said kelly looked alarmed and concerned as the president spoke. the white house acknowledges the chief of staff was uncomfortable. sarah huckabee sanders said general kelly was disappointed in the breakfast. it was only pastries and he was hoping for something more. it was that and not the president's accusations against the close ally that had general kelly worked up. kelly is an expressive fellow. here he is back when he the president had both sides were to blame for the violence in charlottesville. here he is in the united nations as the president called kim jong-un rocket man. we're watching the trip from england to scotland and then to finland to meet with president putin. you can follow me at scott mcgrew. >> sounds good, thanks, scott.

really feel that cool. i don't think you really need a jacket, but as we go through the day, it's going to feel much warmer. and you'll need short sleeves. hoe 80s. if you're going out hiking or enjoying time at the parks in the south bay, 61 degrees with mostly clear skies. already starting to warm up at 10:00, 76 degrees. at 2:00 with the humidity and temperatures in the mid 80s, make sure you're drinking lots of water. we'll see a lot of sunshine, too. looking at our high temperatures today, we range from 64 at half moon bay to 100 in ukiah. you can see these temperatures are spread out all over the map today. you'll need to be prepared if you're driving around the bay area for changing temperatures. as you're getting dressed this morning, good day to have a t-shirt and shorts. if you're along the coast, you'll also need a jacket too. higher humidity surging in from the desert southwest region. and normally, it doesn't reach the bay area, but this time it will. we'll feel that mugginess creeping in today. that can also fire up some

lightning over the sierra. we'll be watching out for that and a slight chance we can see that over the central valley as well. heading over to mike, you have something new for the tri-valley? >> there are very few crashes reported right now, thank goodness, and that also means very little obstruction. the south bay is showing a little build through silicon valley. building out of san jose in the northbound direction. we'll call that out. yes, we're looking at the tri-valley with northbound 680, that's typically an easy drive right now there's a crash reported just past washington. as you come around the bend, the washington irvington district, that's where you may find the crash on the shoulder and a little slowing. it might be sticking out into the slow lane. we'll continue to track updates, and the southbound commute out of sunol shows slowing as well. maybe flashing lights caused a bit of a distraction. an easy drive through contra costa county.

drove the victim to the hospital. police don't have any information on a suspect this morning. >> overnight, thai navy s.e.a.l.s left the area near a flooded cave which captured the world's attention. we have learned just after the last boy was pulled out of the cave, the main water pump failed and flooded that cave again. thankfully, rescue workers managed to escape. 12 boys and their soccer coach who were rescued are still recovering in the hospital this morning. once blood tests are clear, they'll be able to go home. the soccer coach wrote a letter apologizing to the boys' parents. >> today is the last day for small businesses to apply for federal disaster loans. if they were impacted by last year's deadly north bay wildfires. back in may, the business yearnal reported the government gave out about $21 million to assist 173 businesses. and the applications are tapering off. >> some lessons learned after last month's vote by mail experiment during the primary.
