bilateral meeting went so long. it is the fact that when president trump made his sort of opening remarks to the summit he raised a number of issues they were going to discuss everything from the issue in china what he didn't talk about, you crane, crimea and election meddling. he was going to raise the issue heading in. it called for him to do that. what did he do at the start of the day before he even arrived at this summit. he tweeted. the russian investigation was a rigged. it comes on the heels of 12 russian intelligence officials. there will be abl lot of people concerned about the president's tweets today.

>> yeah. he didn't seem to mention anything that might cause discomfort or awkwardness. let's bring in richard. he is looking at how they are seeing it in moscow right now. what's the level of interest there what we are all watching? >> well, the interest is quite high. people feel russia is in a very strong position. this company hosted the world cup. now they are having the this meeting between president putin and president trump. saying this whole inquiry and we have a very specific indictment listing the names of the 12 russian military intelligence

officers that they say we are responsible for hacking the dnc and effectively carrying out water gate on the 2016 election. the russian government also saying it is something that gets in the way. so what we are seeing now is president trump trying to put what they are dismissing as petty issues while they can focus on the issues of global peace and they don't want to be bothered by these pesky things like meddling in the u.s. election. >> yeah. and the question of what's at stake is a broad one since they came into here with no agenda. i'll turn to you on this. the president left behind

bewilderment that the eu is a foe. they will be watching very carefully to see if this president has cozied up. it is treating him in a way he is not treating them any longer. >> you're right. it was stunning to be at the nato summit with president trump last week. he went to britain and criticized her on her home turf. he went into this summit with that tone, really sort of looking like he wasn't unified with some of the closest allies. the president of the european council says anyone who refer to them as a foe is fake news. you have the prime minister saying it is kril cat he be unified. i asked the president during a

press conference last week if he is effectively giving putinthe upper hand. he said bottom line he never answered the question. so that is going to be critical heading into the summit. he is just finishing the world cup. president trump today said it's one of the best world cups in history, really praising president putin. there are a lot on capitol hill that the president is looking some of those alliances. is it clear who has the upper hand here. putin would like to see some of those sanctions. >> it is very clear to me putin has the upper hand and the

fact that the president went in praising him saying how important better relations were. no one would argue about that. he had just on twitter blamed the worsening relationships on patched stupidity. he has handed a propaganda victory. that is such a damaging tweet. it was retweeted and they wrote we agree in retweeting it. they have now taken up president trump going into the summit. the one on one meeting went more than two hours with no official record, praising putin for the success of the world cup.

the east bay approaching the bay bridge. a little slowing. nothing major. over here it's technically the tri valley. slow through pleasanton. >> thanks so much. it is a quart toer to 7:00. a shooting in concord. we have just learned three people are in custody. it happened near san miguel. the victim did not need to go to the hospital. no other details on how it started. the lines at the dmv keep getting worse. it could change. starting today offices opening an hour early to deal with higher demand. pete is live for us in san jose to explain these clangs.

-- changes. it seems like it should be getting busier and business seer, why? >> the reason is a lot of folks are applying for the real id. it is contributing to the long lines. one of two offices we are standing in front of, they are opening up in about 15 minutes to hopefully fix this problem. the line is growing by the minute. maybe a couple of dozen people waiting to get in line early. the two places, the two places right here and it will be open four days a week with the exception of wednesday when doors open at 9:00 a.m. on top of these two offices opening earlier dmv is going to have 14 bay area offices from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

temperatures spreading out. as we take a live look outside you can see the clouds as you get ready for that morning commute. it will be mostly cloudy. grab a jacket. we were in the upper 50s. it will be warming up with all of that sunshine by 2:00 today. around the oakland area we'll be at 70 degrees, heading up to 73 degrees today.

san jose will be at 78 degrees and still hotter temperatures down to the south county with 90s expected today. we'll have 90s in santa rosa. it will be hot later today. it will be comfortable but with the hot sunshine and warm breeze it will make it one that makes it hard to stay active. you do need to stay hydrated for the inland valleys. for the end of the week not much cooling and a hot weekend ahead. morning fog and afternoon
